Worst I’ve ever done in a standings. Throw in a bonus game like when Draughn actually plays somebody or something lol.

Ehhhhh ahhhh emmmm yawn. Here’s my picks:

Bandys: these boys have let me down in some picks and I blame them for my loserness. Could go either way if Newton plays solid defense

Bunker Hill: seems like every time something big happens that’s negative in the world close to or right after it happens when they play Maiden, they win which this time it’s the Israel mess. Last time it was Hugo. Game of the week, packed house, Willis on the move, maiden young. BH has this this time. If not it’s a curse

Lincolnton: as much as I hate to say it. EB could get an upset here. Vue at QB for first time and a soph, we on to something. Just gonna take time. Still without weapons and that being said nobody is giving EB a shot in this one. But keep in mind, coulda made a fully equipped BH a MUCH closer game if just a few things went right. Even limited weapons, stills challenge.

West Lincoln: backups needs reps and a passing game needs to be practiced in this one to prep for playoffs. Just saying

Week like this I wish coach brown was still around. There isn't a man around that could give a speech and rile up the troops like him. The man would have us convinced by the end of the week we would beat Bunker Hill by 50 and he'd be pissed if they scored. Boys it's time to man up and show everyone the conference runs through us.

West Caldwell at West Lincoln: If I could repeat something said last year, to anyone who is a West Caldwell Warrior, player of devoted fan, It is a painful experience to lose, and I couldn't imagine anyone getting used to it. So, for what little it's worth, you have my respect and congratulations for sticking with your team. Being loyal is a special characteristic. WL by 35.

Newton-Conover at Bandys: Both, I believe are good teams. Feel like the Trojans might have a little better running game to go along with the pass. Bandys by 6.

East Burke at Lincolnton: The Cavaliers almost got us, this past season. They had us down in the first quarter 10-0, and led 10-7 at the half. At last years game in Icard while I was talking with Burkeforreal, Lincolnton scored pretty late, think 4 minutes left, to take a 14-10 lead . At that point I told him I was concerned we would let EB come right back and score, which they did, and had the lead until the 2 minute mark when we were able to score on a pass, then intercept them to win. They held us to 95 yards rushing. Hope we can do better. I feel like our passing game and running game have improved, some, from a year ago, and if we don't get too down in the score I feel like we can win. Lincolnton by 10.

Maiden at Bunker Hill: This is Flyrod's game of the week, and rightfully so. I'd think the Bears might tell themselves, "We'll take each game separately, and a week at a time, and handle each team as we get to them", so far, they have; but still, In this conference the Blue Devils wear a target and it would be special for any of us to beat them... Maiden, reminds me of the Green Bay Packers from the middle 1960's, they seem to find a way to win, but this time it's really going to be hard. BH has a solid running and passing game with the people on the line to take care of business. I believe the Devils will be ready as will the Bears. The crowd might exceed the BH-West Lincoln game and should be a great atmosphere. With all things considered, I'll have to pick the Bears by 6... Just out of curiosity, should Maiden win, you reckon AMD will post a message asking "Who runs this valley"? Frankly, I don't think he could resist it, and if the Devils manage to pull it off, He's earned it.

Postscript: Favored teams are in bold.

Postscript: In the Maiden-Bunker Hill prediction, I'd mentioned that Maiden reminded me of the Green Bay Packers of the mid-1960's in finding a way to win. The game I had in mind was the Packers game against the Dallas Cowboys which was played on Sunday December 31st, 1967 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. It was informally called the Ice Bowl. The Temperature range during the game was between -12 and -14 degrees, with a with a wind chill of -30 because of high winds. It was and still is the coldest NFL game on record.
with 16 seconds remaining from inside the one yard line, no time outs, and the Cowboys leading 17-14, quarterback Bart Starr kept the ball going straight ahead behind Guard, Jerry Kramer and Center, Ken Bowman who wedge blocked Dallas defensive tackle Jethro Pugh (Pugh was from Windsor, NC in Bertie County, and played college ball at Elizabeth City State) to enable Starr to fall over the goal line for the score. This gave Green Bay the NFL Championship who would go on to defeat the AFL Champs Oakland Raiders.
*In spite of the very cold weather, attendance was over 50,000. One fan died from exposure, and several players, including Starr, suffered frost bite. Remember watching it on Channel 3 Charlotte (CBS), A long time ago.:)

Illl have to pull that one up on YouTube

Just for fun I’d have to explain the what coulda beens with EB with some of the missing key players we lost either to injury or just quitting. I’m telling ya it makes a difference and here’s why:

Buff- scrappy RB, small but strong, fast, shifty and tough as nails. Hurt at Patton game, out for season. He’d a got 2 of those barley missed TDs against BH.

KJ Byrd- going on to an ACC school for track. Not 100% sure but pretty good idea. Hopefully healed up by December for indoor. Very fast in open space, badly needed DB/MLB presence to get those runs and run downs on defense. He mighta got Willis on the 105 yard run and no telling how many passes he’d deflected against Bandys and Newton.

Fraley- he out ran Willis in track. Who is to say he would this year after that injury. If that best explains his speed. Can get good runs and separation at WR when you need a guy more open and open fast. Badly missed speed guy on D and O. Also getting several looks from who knows how many colleges for track. Him and KJ are once in a lifetime athletes at this school and wishing them the best.

2 Olinemen I believe hurt and one quit that could create nice holes in those 4th and short plays

Coble- does play but just defense to give shoulder a break. When HE’S got the rock….He’s getting that extra yard or 2 in close situations when wrapped by 2 or 3 guys. Would make a great TE too. He’s no Shatley but when healthy he’s been one of the closer ones to him in recent history as far as ball carrying.

I could be wrong but I think Franklin is out. Soild tackler. Folks these are difference makers on our team that we’ve paid the price for not having them. Lincolnton game is winnable if they play mistake free ball and guys get open and open quick for Vue. The kid is getting better. And we at least have Dellinger still in the mix that will give us hope. Can’t afford that guy to get hurt best believe that.

Yall EB fans make more excuses then anyone I have ever seen
Excuses is one thing I get that but telling it like it is is another. Next man up, I get that too, everybody needs to be ready to play whether they’re the 3rd man deep in a position or not. That we both can agree on. We make “excuses” cause we’re disheartened and frustrated. So I guess we take it out on the boards. We’ve came a long way from we’re we were. I’m sure we can agree on that one as well. BH has come a long way from we’re you guys were, I remembered how y’all struggled for years before some athletes and coaches came together and got things rolling so I’m impressed, I really am. Pulling for you guys to beat Maiden for the first time since the troops were getting together for Deseet Storm, Saddam hadn’t even invaded Kuwait yet when BH last beat Maiden so a shot at history is in y’all’s hands.

We finally got the pieces in place to make this CVAC chess game nice and winnable. We overhyped our team with n preseason talk only to have more injuries to key players than anyone in the conference as far as I know. So all that being said there’s the reasoning behind our excuses. During our stink years which was a lot I rarely said anything bout EB cause there really wasn’t much of anything to say.

This is the best team they've had in forever, and a handful of their best players have been hurt all year...let them grieve...this is a slow death on a really promising season
Appreciate that Grizz fist bump to you and everyone else that understands. For years we were what West Caldwell is now. Getting thumped by 42 to 50 pts a game and by the time we’d play Draughn it’d be a sissy fight close game cause we both sucked ha ha. We were just notches away from the level of typical North Iredell, Patton, Cherryville and Highland Tech. I need to look at maxpreps I can’t remember if those boys have even scored a point this year and could easily lose by 100+ against a couple teams.

But yeah slow death, you’re right. It’s beyond bad right now. I’d say we beat Freedom cause KJ and Coble(on offense) was in the game along with our usuals and Freedom didn’t play well and it was early in season. Cool to see them beat South in a thriller this past Friday.

NC goes to 3-2 and positions themselves for playoffs. Bandys is thinking basketball may be their sport, or wrestling, or baseball, or track, or...well, always next year.
Bunker Hill as this one could be a blowout.
Lincolnton as they are prepping for a playoff run
WL...just hoping for no injuries at this point.

As always, stay healthy and good luck

Question for anyone: Not that it's likely, but I do think it's possible, if Maiden would defeat Bunker Hill, then Maiden, Bunker Hill and West Lincoln would go on to win their remaining games in regular season, creating a three way tie, how would this be resolved (How would the tie be broken) ? In the CVAC, this is the only possible scenario I could think of for a three-way-tie that couldn't be resolved by head-to-head wins.

Tried to read it in the NCHSAA rules but my eyes weren't up to it, so forgive me for taking the lazy way out (Asking somebody). At one time a three way tie was resolved by a vote of conference coaches, e.g. in 1979, Statesville beat Lincolnton, Newton-Conover beat Statesville and Lincolnton beat Newton-Conover, creating a three way tie. Seems like the name of that conference was the Western Piedmont. All conference coaches voted and Newton-Conover got the most.
Not sure if particulars like non-conference records or yards rushing and points allowed head to head, or what if any criteria they used, so if somebody could school me on how this is resolved in the modern era, I'd appreciate it.

I believe the tie will be broken using RPI rank

I always thought a three-way tie ended with everyone involved as co-champions of the conference and seeding done by RPI but I could be wrong
I believe this is right…RPI determines the seeding in conference after all the other tie breaker criteria’s have been met….like head to head, etc.

If there is a tie in RPI (extremely rare chance)….then it’s a draw.

Well, actually, there is still a process in the very rare event of a tie in the RPI, and this would only apply to the CVAC... What they would do is send a personal car with a police escort to pick up AMD...First they ask him to name any fine, high dollar food he would like, which would be a Half & Half, then take him to a neutral location like Newton and ask him to give careful consideration to who the CVAC conference champ should be... The decision would be made in a relatively short period of time, can you say nanosecond (one billionth of a second, that's about ten minutes ago) before Maiden would be declared conference champs...They would explain to him that negative publicity was pouring in from all across the state denouncing him and this process for being completely unfair, to which he would respond "So".

I'm smarter than that I'd spin it into Lincolnton fault maiden was the choice.. and the neutral side would probably be Ruth Chris's steakhouse

Yeah, you probably would and they’d be wanting to put my aged, wrinkled posterior in the nursing home. My cousin, up the street, would be saying “what about that ? Him cheating that other team like that. They need to take his backside on over there before he cheats somebody else”.

Something like this maybe 🤔 this decision was very difficult I had many sleepless nights over this choice. But there is this feller who lives in Lincolnton who has always been a closed blue devil, but it's not his fault living in wolf country can be dangerous and they wouldn't be very tolerant of his true passion and love of blue 💙. But this great gentleman is in declining health with his advanced age. And he asked me to grant an elderly man's last wish since his time is near and possibly not being around for the next season. He asked to see his secret blue devils to be granted the overall seed from the cvac so he can see them locally as long as possible. So as a God loving, respectful southern gentleman I decided to honor his wish after many sleepless and soul searching nights. 😂😂😂😂 I think that's the way I would angle it. 😂
