East Surry

I know this is a 1a board but several posters here and teams follow the cards closely. Not much traction for the cards on the 2a boards. Looking at the brackets this morning I think the cards have a real chance to play into the 4th round. I see them beating the community school of Davidson next week. After that looms a match up with randleman or Forrest hills . Looking at each schedules for those teams I believe this is a winnable game for the cards. This coaching staff is more than capable of winning these next two games. A down year and a possible 4th round appearance says volumes about the cardinal program. I am a BEAR fan , a surry county football fan and I do root for the cards when they aren’t playing the Bears. GO CARDS!!!

Food for thought the cards and bears are playing each other in the little league Super Bowl today. Varsity and JV. The future of surry county football looks bright. GO BEARS

SW Edgecombe 8-2 vs Red Springs 5-5

Red Springs makes the long trip up I95 to face the Cougars tonight. I'm in tuned with most of eastern NC football but I have to admit that I know nothing of this team other than stats that I can find online. Those stats suggests that SWE should roll in this one, but we all know that the playoffs can bring out the best or it can bring out the nerves.
The teams that SWE have defeated have a combined record of 39-41. The record of teams we lost to is 17-2. (56-43 total) The combined record of teams Red Springs has defeated is 6-44. The record for teams they lost to is 33-17. (39-61 total) SWE averages 38ppg. Red Springs averages 18ppg. Our offense alone should be enough to overwhelm their defense (27ppg), but those that follow me know that I don't think that we have a good defense ourselves (25ppg). I wouldn't be surprised to see us allow more than their average output. God help us if we do, because Red Springs does not appear to have a threatening offense, at least on the scoreboard. Despite the point total difference, the average yards per game isn't that far apart, with SWE holding a 367-324 advantage. Half of theirs comes through the air, whereas we seldom do that.
I think we should be able to run right through these guys at will. Their results suggest that when facing a team with half a pulse, the games aren't close. I'm hoping it'll be more of the same tonight.
I'm just glad to be hosting a playoff game again!

West Davidson - Surprised to be Winless?!?!

anyone even remotely familiar with West Davidson's sinking ship of a football program had to have seen this coming.

I let my subscription to the online version of The Dispatch lapse a few years back, but I might have to go buy a copy and check out this article. Its written by Carlton Hurt, former standout QB for West when they were a very solid and consistent team. He does a great job of telling a story.

But again, this has been a collapse that has been coming for over a decade now.

#22 Ardrey Kell @ #11 West Forsyth

I know absolutely nothing about Ardrey Kell. I don't think West Forsyth and Ardrey Kell have ever played in football. I'm curious if they mostly run or pass... if they pass, that's a good thing for A. Kell because West has been burnt by 3 QB's so far. Weddington, East Forsyth and Reagan QB's had great success against the Titan secondary.

West Forsyth is pretty much going to run the ball and mix in a few passes with that massive Oline and the running game of Caman Chaplin (32 TD's).
No secret, they will have to win shootouts to advance in each round. I think this game will be high scoring and West pulls out a close game.
