Is Roughtrader4444 the NC football guru?

He knows about football in NC from the mountains to the coast and every in between. He knows coaches and history of those who have been retired for some time from numerous areas within the state. He knows who are the best teams, the best coaches, the best players, hiring searches, and any other thing you want to know about when it comes to high school football. Is he the high school football equivalent of Mel Kiper?

My Breakdown of what 8 Classes Could be if they'd quit playing around

8 classes is here...and for the better if done right.

Charter schools (including the 4 added last week) = 58
Everyone else = 382
Total schools = 440

While it would be nice for an even 55 split all the way down - we have 58 schools who do not play football (46 charter and 12 public) - so I propose a breakdown like such:

**Not enough football playing charter schools to create their own classification
**Too many non-football schools in the lower classifications
**East/West split in football couldn't be done until playoffs in 1A - heavy PO travel

NonFB SplitSCHOOLSEASTWESTPLAYOFFS
1A - No FB58312732
2A60303032
3A60303032
4A54243032
5A54243032
6A54282632
7A50262432
8A50302032
440223217256

NonFB Split**Separate NFB schools allows for smooth 2A-8A class breakdown and E/W split (per class) pre-playoff
1A - No FB**Only 5 of the non-FB schools are above 600 ADM (91% within 542 ADM)
2A**422 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 396 (21 under - 39 above (within 18 - not ideal)) lower end extreme
3A**194 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 681 (29 under - 31 above (within 2 - excellent))
4A**148 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 856 (24 under - 30 above (within 6 - great))
5A**239 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 1059 (27 under - 27 above (even - perfect outcome))
6A**376 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 1344 (27 under - 27 above (even- perfect outcome))
7A**404 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 1708 (27 under - 23 above (within 4 - great))
8A**1712 ADM Diff - Mean ADM 2314 (29 under - 21 above (within 8 - good))

CVAC 2024 - Spring/Summer

With spring ball around the corner and summer workouts/camps/7on7s on the horizon - I thought it fitting to start to look at the season incoming...sorry @flyrod5518 , not to pull away from your big thread of the 2023 season...but this was going to happen sooner or later.

Looking at what's returning for the upcoming season:

1. Bunker Hill - Returning 42% of their offensive yardage production and 54% of their defensive production (including 35% sack production and 44% turnover production)
T2. Lincolnton - Returning 14% of their offensive yardage production and 37% of their defensive production (including 26% sack production and 30% turnover production)
T2. Maiden - Returning 87% of their offensive yardage production and 67% of their defensive production (including 81% sack production and 83% turnover production)
T2. West Lincoln - Returning 68% of their offensive yardage production and 57% of their defensive production (including 45% sack production and 79% turnover production)
5. Bandys - Returning 60% of their offensive yardage production and 48% of their defensive production (including 38% sack production and 38% turnover production)
6. Newton - Returning 55% of their offensive yardage production and 32% of their defensive production (including 36% sack production and 50% turnover production)
7. East Burke - Returning 42% of their offensive yardage production and 48% of their defensive production (including 39% sack production and 22% turnover production)
8. West Caldwell - Returning 88% of their offensive yardage production - no defensive stats were entered into MaxPreps

Biggest Offensive Production Returning:
1. West Caldwell (88%)
2. Maiden (87%)
3. West Lincoln (68%)

Biggest Defensive Production Returning:
1. Maiden (67%)
2. West Lincoln (57%)
3. Bunker Hill (54%)

We have new head coaches at Newton and West Caldwell - good luck to these gentleman and welcome to the CVAC.

Realignment - My proposed conferences

I am taking a stab at what the conferences could look like for 2025-2029. I tried to use no more than 3 classifications in split leagues. Also tried to get 6 football schools in each league, but it didn't always happen. I did 58 schools in 8A-2A and 38 in 1A, including public schools opening in 2025 and 2026. Allows for schools 306 and smaller to have their own championships except in football (2A/1A combined.)

I know not everyone will agree on these, but wanted to know what you think (feedback please).

Cleveland County

Just a thread to discuss happenings around the County with regards to the football programs. There will most likely be comments from the peanut gallery (SPRaiders78) but we can all agree to pray that his fingers fall off.

I can’t speak much to KM or Burns or Shelby so if any of you guys feel froggy jump on in.

Crest,

A lot of interesting things going on at Crest. First thing I notice is that unlike the XL pipeline, the pipeline to Crest is wide open and that that isn’t a joke. The excitement is palpable around the program and a lot of let’s say folks want to join in on the party. Some of these cats from across town know exactly what I speak of. But, even they don’t know it all. Big changes in operations have stoked other changes around the 7 mile radius between Grandpaw and Daddy. The flow of traffic has changed. No one can blame anyone for a directional change from that way but traffic is inbound from multiple directions.

I pondered why. There are a few reasons not just the obvious. The obvious would be a wide open offense, A fantastic coach and staff, and resources are becoming much more abundant. Those are good but by themselves are not enough. I thought about it and I have a few more reasons.

That video taping last year exposed something we refer to as Barney Fifeing. I enjoyed the show every week. It gave an inside look to things that should have been kept inside.

The schedule specifically the conference schedule for Burns and Shelby is a complete farce. Which gets exacerbated if 2A Sate Titles aren’t flowing into Shelby. Burns is on a whole other planet than the rest of us.

Let’s look at it. Kids playing at Crest will play.

Burns

Shelby

Ashbrook

Cramer

South Point

NG

FV

Kings Mountain

South Meck (I guess) (one of those schools)

Crest

Highland Tech

Bessemer City

East Gaston

Burns

I’m looking at things through green glasses but it’s pretty clear to me .There is a lot of buzz about this and that about middle schools and all that. Middle schools… LOL… I remember as few years ago when Crest had a QB down there at CMS and he transferred to Shelby as soon as he hit high school age. It was understandable his dad was a Golden Lion. Well let’s forward a few years Word on the street is that the same thing is happening just in reverse directions. The exact same thing is taking place if what I hear is correct. I might just be hearing bull-crap, but what if what I heard is true? LOLOLOLOLOLOL…………….

I know nothing about KM. I don’t even care. They’ll be around at least until that casino turns that whole place into dung-pile. They need to be teaching a Heimlich maneuver class as mandatory learning over there.

Burns has another decent year left and they’ll be glad to be in that conference after that. That’s my opinion.

Anyway, just ramblings of an old man waiting on football season to come back around. Feel free to take shots I promise I do not care. I simply typed the truth. Times are changing….. Times are a changing…

Happy New Year.

2024 Reidsville Rams

With March Madness about to be underway, how about a little Ram Madness? Any news and updates does the 2024 season can be posted here.

With the likes of Kendre, Diontae, J9, Jones and Cobb returning, the Rams are poised for a repeat. We also have 4 of 5 OL coming back. We are also losing some valuable veterans at key positions. J9 should be starting QB with plenty of aforementioned talent at the skill positions. Defense should also be strong with a good returning core of guys.

Any news floating around about incoming freshmen and transfers? Reidsville is in a very beneficial situation with scouts everywhere coming to see the Rams!

Go Rams!
