The Main Question for 2020 Football

prayers for your friend. What I mean is this virus has become propagandized for political games. Should never be this. The government is using it as an excuse to gain more control over us.

One of the most ignorant statements I've heard on here. This virus is real. I would hate for you to get it, so you could see this has nothing to do with government. Its a damn pandemic. Smh

SC Governor said yesterday that if surge continues there will be no college or high school football in SC.

didn’t say it wasn’t real. What I’m saying is the measures they are taking and the media feeding us daily is stirring up fear. Our rights are being stripped away in name of keeping us safe. Our forefathers didn’t die for socialism and safety. They died for freedom.

What happened during pandemics of the past? This isn't the first time safety measures have been taken. You haven't lost any of your freedoms guaranteed in the constitution.

You mean the forefathers who formed a government — as in, a social compact whose very nature is (as in “social”ism...you know, like public schools) intent on promising safety, thereby attempting to avert chaos...like the chaos of a pandemic where there aren’t nearly enough hospital beds for the number of people in need of one? And then the very thing you promote is our forefathers’ sacrifice, when you don’t appear to be willing to sacrifice anything (like a high school football fixation) for others‘ safety? Very tired of this idiotic bull that’s repetitively given too much voice. Trust me that you’ll find no greater football fan (with four decades playing, coaching and admiring it) than I...but if, weighed in the balance against perpetuating unnecessary mass death (125k and counting, global leader by far), then maybe, just maybe, I can sacrifice football for a year. Maybe you can’t.

I’ve also worked alongside many of the people in charge of whether or not there will be high school sports, or to what degree we’ll have sports and/or school... and they are sound, principled, insightful and informed judges, who have consulted all stakeholders and will ultimately make the best decision they can with the information they have.

WSFCS have announced that summer workouts will not start until July 20th now due to the spike in Forsyth County. It could be entirely possible that some districts may opt to not play sports at all if sports happen.

According to HS OT, Cabarrus, Granville, Vance, and Cumberland also push back voluntary workouts.

The NCHSAA released new guidelines yesterday. Pretty much other than individual conditioning, it's pointless to do anything right now imo.

Here is a new conspiracy. This virus came from the over consumption of processed cheese. They have been killing us for years and is just now hitting hard. My advice is to stick to cheese in a can!!! Saltine crackers also have virus fighting antibodies. To sum it all up cheese in a can and saltines save lives!!!!

Looks like South Iredell has made a decision to push back until the 20th. I assume other Iredell Schools may follow.

Stanly County schools have also pushed back their start of summer workouts as well.

With the restrictions is almost pointless anyway.

To be honest, I have never been a fan of the summer workouts. I've always thought the whole month of July should be a dead period.

Have a 4 week period over June for summer workouts and limit it. No more than 2 or 3 days a week.

Kids are spending their whole summers at school. Do we want kids to get better? Absolutely. Do we appreciate the hard work they put in? Absolutely. But we are burning these kids out.

I have to agree about the comments about not liking the summer workouts.Back when I played there were no scheduled workouts or practices with any coaches. We couldn’t start any type of practice until August 1st.The gym and weight room was kept open so we could workout on our own.Back then almost all of our players had full time summer jobs and quite a few even played summer baseball too.My how times have changed.

And if you want to leave the weight room open as long as there is supervision then by all means do it. But these 2 and 3 7 on 7s, 2 a days for basketball, kids going to football in the morning, then basketball at lunch, then baseball in the evening needs to stop.

If anything perhaps the lack of workouts this summer will show us it's not needed. Most of these kids are playing travel sports in the summer anyway.

Same here, but I did weight training in a friends basement pretty much year round and started running a month or so before practice started. You could always tell the guys that had not done anything since the previous season, those first couple of weeks almost killed them.

Read the article in the Charlotte Observer “Paul Finebaum interview about college football this fall”. Not looking good!!

I heard East Surry was having workouts Monday - Thursday from 7 am to 12 noon and again from 5:30 pm to 7 pm this week.
No one but coaches and players allowed in the stadium. It was on WXII News tonight at 6 pm. Sorry, I misunderstood the 6 pm news, it is not practice but workouts.

Read the tweet more carefully before posting nonsense - the track and field area are only being closed to the public during those hours. This allows the staff to begin proper setup, clean/sanitize, and conduct screenings before workouts (all to follow the NCHSAA regulations). Workouts aren’t allowed to last that long.

This is the whole Tweet and what I heard on TV. Pay close attention to the bold print from their tweet. Now call that nonsense. I only post it like I hear and see it. By, By

That sounds like they are closing the stadium during those times so the public can’t use it. East Surry’s stadium is used quite a bit by the public for
walking/running/frisbee/etc. Drive by during the evening or early in the morning, you’d be surprised how many elderly are there walking the track.

I also know that those times are long because they have different groups coming In at different times so they don’t have over 15-20 people per workout session.

I figure Que will announce the delay to the start of the season tomorrow.

Somehow I looked over that you had shared that. That's been my argument. We don't want to risk the lives of students and teachers but it's ok to risk athletes and coaches lives?

As I have said, unless students are 100% in the building, we will not have athletics until that happens.
