They can apply to move but I wouldn't bet on it happening......in Granville Co. where I live/work, JF Webb saw a huge numbers drop off the last 4 or 5 years....they were 3A in 2011 or 2012 when they did the realignment for 2013, but half way through that cycle, they became one of the smallest 3As in the state, if I heard correctly, they applied to move, and were rejected, appealed that ruling and were rejected again....when I started working at South Granville in 2005, they had just moved up to 3A and were actually one of the largest 3A schools in the state for two years....then Granville Central opened up in Fall 2007 with only 9th & 10th graders...that year Webb was still 3AA in playoffs but SG was small 3A......SG stayed 3A the rest of the realignment cycle with an enrollment smaller than the larger 2A schools....not sure if we ever applied to move....anyway, it's very rare they let you change classifications in the middle of a cycle.......the North Davidson & Ledford going to 2A with huge Jr. & Sr. classes, unaffected by Oak Grove last year, will hopefully never happen again was probably only allowed to happen because Oak Grove was opening in the first year of a new realignment cycle......I expect all three of them to be 3A in 2021McMichael 943

Wonder if there's a chance they will be allowed to re-classify earlier?
Trying to get to that small 2a... Ol D.P must have pulled a string with the nchsaa .Just saw where they have a new updated ADM. Smoky Mtn is at 838 now.
Here's your 2A ADM list, (with the Thursday updates) and I drew a line between my current projected 2A/2AA cut line....note the possibility of a draw between SW Edgecombe and Smoky Mtn. if the cut line moves up one spot

Yes, probably 50/50.....currently the largest small 2A team with most recent projections based on the new numbers and rankingsIs there a chance that south granville moves up to 2aa?
Yes, probably 50/50.....currently the largest small 2A team with most recent projections based on the new numbers and rankings
So is there any movement with the new numbers for the west 2aa/2a?Yes, probably 50/50.....currently the largest small 2A team with most recent projections based on the new numbers and rankings
As always, it will come down to exactly which 64 teams qualify for the playoffs....then that dictates where the cutlines are for 2A/2AA and East/West in both subdivisions....it could be that we get a change based on the final draft of rankings that affects only 1 of the 4 brackets (like last night's game where Roanoke Rapids beat Bunn, puts RR in 2AA East, for the moment bumps Vance Co. out of the playoff projections, but only affects 2AA East because of both of those schools' enrollment and location....we could see changes such as South Granville going up to 2AA (East)....or SW Edgecombe dropping to small 2A (East), or Smoky Mountain dropping to small 2A (West)....I believe that with SWE & SM having identical ADMs, then there could be a draw between those two to see which one goes 2AA and which one goes 2A.......depending on the puzzle pieces fall into place, you could see Randleman, followed by Reidsville go to 2A East or you could see Eastern Randoph, followed by South Columbus go to 2A West....you could see North Davidson, followed by Ledford, pushed to 2AA West or West Stokes, followed by Mount Pleasant, pushed to 2AA East...the teams in the most danger of dropping out altogether are the ones in line for a wild card berth with the lowest adjusted maxpreps rankings, right now the last few in are: Lexington (66), Carrboro (64), East Lincoln (63) Oak Grove (62), Washington (61), East Henderson (60)....those that I have on the outside looking in right now; hoping for a Maxpreps Miracle...are Vance Co. (67), TW Andrews (69), Newton-Conover (70), and doubtfully but possibly Wilkes Central (72), who would be right on the bubble but they announced a forfeit recently that really hurt their ranking, and even longer longshots include West Iredell (73), Trinity (74), Chase (75), and Fairmont (76).....yes North Wilkes was 71 last week, and with that number, they get in after Wilkes Central, ahead of West Iredell, but their loss to Elkin on Thursday is probably going to drop them even lower....also if Fairmont were to leap frog everybody due to their 1 win already this week, and potentially 2 with West Columbus tonight, they could also open the door for Red Springs....I think it's highly unlikely but it is mathematically possibleSo is there any movement with the new numbers for the west 2aa/2a?
