Catawba Valley 2A Early Outlook

I bet you guys throw some crappy surprise birthday parties. Can't let nobody have any surprises 🤣🤣. Still a few y'all have it gave up yet 🤣🤣

West Lincoln RB per sources in Lincoln country
I heard Ponder has a lot of friends in Catawba County including the Super and is readying to open a Big Ol’ Can if they don’t back off his RB. I can’t say as I blame him and I think once it starts other coaches are going to join in. It could get real ugly in the Catawba Valley.

U talking about the super who's son is QB1 at the moment in maiden. The son who would benefit from this. If the rumors are true. Once again this is rumors. 2nd it don't matter who is mad or butt hurt if the kid actually makes a physical move into maiden and is living in the school district it's legal and not much can be done about it.

If he has evidence "they" are trying to scalp any of his players, why not pony up now? Why wait until IF the kid leaves?

If there's been any evidence at all, why hasn't any coach, or parent, or school/county officials brought it forward?

Seems to me that Big Ol' Can is holding nothing but desperately grasped straws.

If kids and their parents think another school is better for their future, who is ANYONE to stop them?

People move every day in this country in this state in this County. There is no rules or laws or punishment for people moving to community that they feel like is a better place to live for them. If we start telling people where they can live and that they can't move that gets pretty communist.

I don't really care who does what. Lincolnton has benefitted in the past and I expect they will again real soon.

This is my comment. If the RB is a legit stud then I would want to be toting the rock in that West Lincoln run-oriented offense. Checks Mason Avery's 2022 stats. Then again as they say you never want to be the man that follows the MAN. I think the only time that really worked out was Jimmy Johnson following Tom Landry.

I guess you could add Pittsburgh and Shelby.

Mason Avery is a beast I would love to have him as a running back or linebacker. But let's be honest with the numbers he put up in accolades that he accomplished he should have had a lot of D1 offers. And not taking anything from the Lenoir rhyne it's a great institution with a good football team and has proven to send people to NFL. But that offense just kind of showing that it will get you big numbers but it won't get you recognition and attention from the big schools.

If he had D1 talent he'd have D1 offers. I've seen alot of great high school running backs but very few D1 running backs. Kids from down east run wing-t, flexbone, straight-t, etc... and they produce D1 backs.

I really don't see him playing running back in college I figured they move him to defense

Ain't many D1 linebackers running around either. I can think of 4 in the past 20 years in the Hickory Unifour area. Alec Hall is going the same place as Avery🤷‍♂️.

I'm not dissing LR but also alec Hall tore his Achilles and missed most of his senior year. And still wasn't playing at 100% when he came back. So not really able to compare the two situations in my opinion.

My point is you act like Avery would have went D1 had he not been at West Lincoln which I doubt.

Avery is a fantastic high school football player, and one of the best I have seen. However, Division 1 programs tend to value upside and physical traits rather than stats. I have seen numerous record setting players who end up at Division 2, or Division 3 because they lack the upside and physical traits. Again, great high school football player and there is absolutely nothing wrong with heading to a top tier Division 2 program like Lenoir Rhyne!

You never know different coach different offensive style. He could have had different skills showcased at different School could have had different eyes looking at them because of that school. If you had an offense that utilized him in the passing game you could have schools that might have thought he could have been a tight end. Or other positions. It's a would've could've situation we will never know

The seven classification realignment would split our conference in half. Maiden and Newton Conover East Burke and West Caldwell would all go to 4a and the rest of the conference would be 3A. I'm sure they would probably create a new conference at that point because pretty Ford and North Lincoln would be in 4A with us

Would Culiver went to college for football had he stayed at bandys, probably so. Would it have been a power 5 school like UNC, who knows maybe not with their offense the past couple of years but who knows. He made a smart business decision. The school he went to threw the ball and they threw it a lot. Obviously he is a big big talent but he made a good move looking back.

In the end we all say it's about the kids and that we want what's best for the kids and we want them to succeed and prosper. Especially coaches who claim it's all about doing what's best for the kids. But if this was really true in the end would they be throwing a fit when that kid and his family makes a decision that is in the best interest for them

If it was best for the kids would they be recruiting? It was best for the kids they would work with what they had to make them better. It about the coach building name for himself

We don't know anything about recruiting in Maiden we are just lucky we have a nice community that people want to move to. But let's say you have a kid who is very talented at football but you live in West Caldwell football district. Do you continue your kid going there to play football and Hope the coach can make the best of it. And hope the coach can make him a better overall player that maximizes his talent. Or do you do what's necessary for your kid to end up at a program that will increase his skills and maximize the talent to give him a better chance of succeeding further in life.

Basketball season is over so time for the guys to hit the weight room and get ready for football season

First no one mention Maiden. If a coach starts a line of communication with a student from another program himself, it is recruiting. If it is parent started communication for the betterment of student and is willing to make the move to school district that is also fine. If you're going to send student to live with 3rd cousins once remove, I don't agree with either that. These are just my thoughts. I heard one statement everyone else is doing it doesn't make it right.
