JV Game needed for 10/18 or 10/19

North Surry is looking for a JV game the week of October 16th-October 20th. Our week 2 game was delayed and eventually canceled by weather, and we would love to have a full schedule of JV games for the season. We will be fine with a home or away game on either Wednesday the 18th or Thursday the 19th.

Opponent must be either a 1A or 2A school.

If interested contact our head coach Jackson Smith at:

Thank you!

Overhauling the NCHSAA

Good morning from Raleigh. For those who may not be aware late last night the House voted not only to (finally) pass a state budget, but also on a bill that will strip the NCHSAA of much of it's governing authority over high school athletics and place that power in the hands of superintendent of public instruction and members of the NC Board of Education. The Senate just a few minutes ago voted in favor of the bill and it will now go to the Governor.

Here is the final version of the bill: https://webservices.ncleg.gov/ViewBillDocument/2023/7356/0/S452-PCCS45372-TU-2

CCC 1A/2A Week 2 Conference Action

Biggest game of the week features Thomasville vs. N Rowan. This one has been the battle for the #1 1A seed the last two seasons in the split 1A/2A CCC. Thomasville 3-2 is coming off a close 12-6 loss to 2A powerhouse Salisbury. NR 4-1 scored late in the game in the last minute on a long pass to beat S Davidson 20-14. This one features two athletic and traditionally strong teams with a higher playoff seed on the line. Both teams will be in the playoffs with the winner likely being a 4-5 seed and the loser a 10-12. Thomasville gets the win behind a very strong defensive effort and the offensive combo of #1 and #2 making big plays.

S Davidson-Lexington: Both teams are off to a 3-2 record halfway through the regular season. SD is looking to add another upset over the Yellow Jackets to improve their odds of a 5-5 season as they still have a date with W Davidson later in the season. Lexington has improved and has beaten a few teams this year that had been beating them including a win over E Davidson last week. The Jackets have a very fast QB and TB combo that have reeled off several 50+ yard runs this year and that is South's cryptonite. The Yellow Jackets overcome a surging Wildcats effort to go to 4-2 and improve their odds of a 2A wildcard berth from the CCC.

Salisbury-W Davidson: This one is as lopsided as a game can get. Salisbury is 5-0 and faces the winless Dragons. The Hornets win this one 60+ points later running away.

East Davidson 2-3 survives against "bye" this week to remain 2-3 on the season.

Norfolk State head coach and former Crest alum Coach Dawson Odums stated when he took the Norfolk State job that he wanted to recruit Charlotte metro and especially Cleveland County really hard. Robert will be the fourth Mountaineer to make his way to Norfolk in the last three years. Congratulations young man!

Games of interest in Charlotte area 9/29

I’ve decided to name it as games of interest in Charlotte area instead of making different posts of different games. Easier to keep up with.

Not many games of interest for me that I can see for this next week. If anyone has a game in Charlotte area. Go ahead and list it.
One game I see is 2-3 Mallard Creek vs 2-3 North Meck. Could get interesting.
Also Providence at Mooresville. But this game most likely will be posted by Bluedevil fan in another thread.

Any thoughts on Mallard Creek vs North Meck game.

Mooresville at Hickory Ridge

The Game that many have had circled for a while now… Mooresville makes the trip down to Harrisburg to take on Hickory Ridge.

Records are a bit deceiving if you look at them… HR has played a gauntlet of a schedule… i wouldn’t say we played a cup cake schedule but it definitely does not compare to theirs.

Both teams come in still with their struggles. HR still looking to get the defense to be more consistent… and Mooresville doing the same, but on the other side of the ball.

I think you could genuinely call this a 50/50 game… but I still lean HR here. At home for them, they have more play makers on offense, if they get themselves into a shootout, I think it favors HR. Now of the Mooresville defense can assert itself, and they are very good on that side of the ball, and turn this into the slow, smash mouth pace of play Mooresville wants… then it could go the other way. I just don’t think either team will be able to stop one other consistently, and in a shoot out I favor HR.

Live ,,,,Play by Play Thread Tonight .....WRH @ SWO

Of what intrest yor might ask ....After all its a general consensus Not a real game at all. Notice the concern on the WRH fans, there is still a thread about the Havelock/WRH GAME GOING STRONG. No mention of the puny team in Jacksonville. The weakest perdiction is WRH by a bunch. One even said we get the breaks beat off. Both come in at 1-3, only one gets the W. No use to start a poll as the answer is clear, The Stallions will need a trip to the body shop Saturday. I can only think of one response ...... Only Pay attention to the brakes and you could get run over by the rest of the bus. No matter the outcome I and the rest of the Stallion faithful will continue to be cheering. The Bulldogs will be welcomed to Phil Padgett Stadium along with all the great fans from Teachy. I would think a lot will be at the ED/JK game to witness a more even matchup. Where ever you go tonight have a great Friday Night under the lights. Check in ever so often and monitor the lopsided match up.

Pre-game show with Coach Charlie Dempsey at 6:30
Kickoff at 7

Western Foothills 3A 9/15

Well it’s that time of year for conference play. Already looking forward to some games.

3-0 Hickory vs 3-0 East Lincoln
This game most likely will decide the conference. Would have to be conference game of week. My predictions. I’m leaving it as a tossup

1-2 Statesville vs 2-1 North Lincoln
Hard game to decide. Since I’m not sure what N, Lincoln has. But going with Statesville in a tight game

3-0 West Iredell vs 0-3 St Stephens.
West Iredell has improved but St Stephens seems to have fallen off some. Going with West Iredell in a close game.

1-2 North Iredell vs 0-3 Foard
North Iredell pulled out a good win against Alexander Central last week. I think North Iredell picks up another win.

Any thoughts or predictions with these games

South Piedmont Conference 9/22

JMR 4-0 (2-0)
NW Cabarrus 4-0 (1-0)
West Rowan 1-3 ( 1-0)
Concord 3-1 ( 1-1)
Central Cabarrus 1-3 ( 0-1)
Carson 1-3 ( 0-1)
South Rowan 1-3 ( 0-1)
East Rowan 0-4 ( 0-1)

JM Robinson vs Carson
NW Cabarrus vs East Rowan
West Rowan vs South Rowan
Concord vs Central Cabarrus

My picks
JM Robinson
NW Cabarrus
West Rowan
Concord

I would say best game in this conference for this week would be Concord n CC game.
