For the brackets sake, I am taking Draughn and Robbinsville to win. Based on reading through the forums that seems to be the most popular picks. As far as ER, they'll get seeded with the champions regardless of beating/losing to Randleman, as they meet the criteria and are top placed 1A team in that conference. I did not try to figure out who would win this Friday on all the games and update the RPIs accordingly.

Sorry it was a dumb question I see what you're doing just using what they are now and not possibilities of what could happen because it would take the outcome of other games then just one match up.
I was just thinking if ER win there's a possibility that they be ranked higher than Mt Airy there's only a 0.02525 difference between them now and ER is playing a 9-0 team while Mt Airy is playing a 4-5 team which make enough change in the owp but that gets far into the weeds and except for a couple championship games your dealing with the known.

If in Maxpreps RPI , Mt Airy is 2nd to Tarboro, why would they not be Seeded #1 in the West? Just asking because I do not Know the RPI system as well as others do.

Right if nchsaa was still using maxpreps and this was the last rankings Mt Airy would be the #1 seed in West.
If you were to combine East & West Nchsaa RPI Tarboro has the highest so would be ranked #1 in the whole 1A in it as well

The NCHSAA's RPI. They reduced it to a simple formula 30% teams winning percentage+40% opponents winning percentage+ 30% opponents opponents winning percentage= RPI total.

Okay owp supposed to be the combined record of the team's opponents minus the outcome of the game with that team. Like ES is 7-2 they lost to Robville so that gives you 7-1.
Well the combined winning percentage of their opponents is 49-24 that's 73 games so 49/73= .67123 not .66667

What happens to numbers if you put game they played opponent back in? That should reduce it but don’t know if that would be enough?

I can make a real arguement about which should be 2 or 3, but 1.

Just depends there's not a lot of difference between the them and Mt Airy but like was mentioned their oowp might improve.

I always respect your opinion but like I told BK I don’t agree with it at all. RPI doesn’t care about points put up or allowed. Just wins and losses+opponents wins/losses + their opponents wins/losses. The schedule you play has a lot to do with points allowed and scored. While I do agree Mt Airy is the best team in west until some other team bests them, the success of the teams they are accomplishing these things against are not stellar. Don’t like the term SOS but RPI is a good measure of that.
In my opinion of course, which you sir can disagree with and I won’t think any less of you.

Thing is just trying to get an educated guess on one team's last owp (forget the oowp) seeing that it depends on the out come of 9 other games that night (unless a team has already played their last game) that's 512 possible combinations of different outcomes if I'm doing right.
2^9=512

I’m sorry I just am a numbers guy, not as good as @Old Mountaineer, but fair enough back in the day to get accepted at a couple of fairly large public universities (private one in Durham wanted me to raise SAT score 25 points 🙄) even got my children’s batting averages figured from each rec ball season…

An example I found was answering the same question only with 10 games instead of 9.
