The Main Question for 2020 Football

The ACC is playing football.....now tell me that politics have nothing to do with the decision whether or not to play high school football again....I'll sit back and wait for the liberals to gather their talking points from MSM before they respond. Football should be played across the state. If parents do not feel comfortable then don't let their kids play.
Will there be fans? TV only? Fifty percent capacity? Twenty-five? Will it vary by state?

Good article on college football and coronavirus on espn.com. Answering twenty questions for a 2020 season. Apply those same questions to high school, particularly on testing and revenue. ACC is still six weeks away. May happen. What it will look like is anybody’s guess.

People don’t seem to understand the resources needed. Pro and some colleges have them. High Schools do not.

As mentioned, the ACC, and college football has resources high school doesn't have. High school can't test weekly, they can't play without fans, and probably not even half capacity.

With as nasty as people are, do you want someone having to sit at a gate and turn people away when a stadium gets to a certain capacity?

Critical thinking strikes again.

Reckon most Walmart’s will have as many people in them as one side of a football stadium. If you’ve been to the store, gas station, restaurant or anywhere else that people go you’ve already been exposed. Going to watch your kid play sports isn’t any different. If you’re at risk stay home. Common sense goes a long way. Most players on the marlins were asymptomatic, they didn’t even know they had the virus. People should wake up

Think about that a minute. A grocery store where people pass each other and aren't in close contact for more than a minute or 2 while being spread out with only a few hundred people in the store, compared to a stadium where people are on top of each other for 2 hours.

Common sense says this is a highly contagious virus. When have you ever had the flu in the summer? Or seen so many people sick in the summer?

You should start a thread here and see what the country thinks. Take your platform nation wide. You can post in this rivals forum.

All I am trying to do is to get some of you to think critically instead of spouting some of the things you do. It's not hard to do once you step back and think about things.

We all hate this, but comparing a football game to Wal-mart or high school sports to the ACC just isn't going to cut it once you dig into it.

I refer to it as “what about-ism”. As a society, when someone calls out a political leader (or an idea), rather than address the issue, the response is “well, what about?”. Fill in the appropriate name. Don’t like something Trump says or does. “Well, what about what Obama......”. Don’t like Cooper’s action? “Well, what about McCrory?”
Don’t like how this virus has disrupted our lives? Well, what about liquor stores, Wal-Mart or cancer or car wrecks? It’s a terrible, insidious disease that has killed a whole bunch of people, whether you believe it’s 150,000 or not. Unless you’re over 100, none of us have ever experienced anything like it. It calls for drastic measures. We learn more every day. Mistakes will be made and we’ll adjust.
I probably like change (at 67) less than many people. But I’ll do what I have to do to protect me, my family....and you, no matter how old or healthy you are.
People like to talk about whining. Well, quit whining and follow the three W’s. What the heck can it hurt? If it’s your choice, and it is, then choose to do it.

You know, people say stay home if you're at risk. That's easy to say. Not everyone has that option.

What about my friend that has a husband with an auto immune disorder. He is lucky to work from home but she is not. So what if you give it to her, she takes it home to him, he gets it and dies at 40 years old.

The problem is people spout what they are told and don't think things through. Stop being selfish.

Time to get real about this pandemic. One of the Marlins that tested positive now has heart damage because he played. He made a choice and it cost him. Do we want to risk our children playing football this fall with so many unknowns?

Who are you to tell me how to think. Its a damn high school football thread here. You have absolutely flooded these threads with more replies than I've ever seen in all my years on here. We all have ideas, opinions, etc. You are pushing extremism to the brink. Wanna talk football, cool. If not, please take it elsewhere. I'm over it.....

So it was a Boston Red Sox player and it something they have seen in Covid patients that don’t play sports. The player is going to keep playing and not opt out.

Heard it on ESPN Radio. Got the player wrong. While he is not opting out, he is also not playing. He hopes to continue sometime this season. According to a quote, he has concerns about playing even though he plans to later.

Why would he opt out? Goes on reserved list and still draws full salary.

I'm simply asking you to think, not telling you what to think. Walk through your 30 minute trip to Walmart and then your 2 and a half hours at a packed stadium and then tell me the differences.

With that said, I've tried to talk football, but some people keep circling back around on this same song and dance.

I've also raised legitimate concerns with starting the season and things that have to be thought about, but no one wants to discuss or answer those.

If you understand viruses, then you'd understand they can enter through the eyes.
Why are we just hearing about this and it’s been 6 months of Covid this and that.
They said after it started that it could enter through the eyes and it has been repeated many times. That is why Doctors & Health Care personal wear masks and face shields. Not trying to be a smart ass about this but with my age of 70 coming up in 5 months I have kept up with it very well because I still work 4 - 4 hour days and wear a different mask every day and keep my distance from anyone with or without a mask. With that said I really don't believe all the deaths reported are COVID-19, may 1/2 or 2/3 but I am not taking that chance. I have seen too many reports with family members saying their family member that died of other causes had no signs of COVID-19. Hospitals get paid a larger sum if reported death by COVID-19 . They are ripping off the government which is us, the taxpayers, and insurance companies. Thank goodness if what I think is true it all will go away in November or drag out to December and be all kind of cures for it that are ready now ! Just my personal opinion from things I have read and all I hear on many different TV News channels.

well she’s got as much a chance getting the virus at work or the store as at the football game. I’m fixing to give a startling ratio 1:1 persons in the USA die.

More than 800,000 people in the United States die from cardiovascular disease each year—that's 1 in every 3 deaths, and about 160,000 of them occur in people under age 65. Let’s shut the country down everyone’s going to die of heart disease

How Many People Die of Cancer Each Year? In 2020, an estimated 606,520 people will die of cancer in the United States. Lung and bronchus cancer is responsible for the most deaths with 135,720 people expected to die from this disease.

Shut it down we’re all going to get cancer

The ILO estimates that some 2.3 million women and men around the world succumb to work-related accidents or diseases every year; this corresponds to over 6000 deaths every single day. Worldwide, there are around 340 million occupational accidents and 160 million victims of work-relatedillnesses annually.

Don’t go to work you’re all going to die

I post this for informational purposes. Do with it what you wish. Data Below is from the 07/30/2020 Report from the NCDHHS (numbers in parenthesis are from 06/25/2020; +/- in brackets [ ] indicates change from previous report).

Total Population of NC (07/01/2019 est.): 10,490,000 [rounded up from 10,488,084]*

It should also be noted from the NCDHHS: "Reporting positive laboratory tests to NCDHHS is mandatory. However, reporting the total number of tests conducted, including negative tests, is not required. Therefore, total tests come from labs that voluntarily reporting them."***

Completed Covid-19 Tests: 1,724,924 (811,278) [+913,646] **
Percent of Population Tested: .1644 (.0773) [+.0871]

Lab Confirmed Positive Cases: 120,194 (57,183) [+63,011] **
Percent of Positive Tests from Completed Tests: .0696 (.0704) [-.0008]
Percent of Total Population with Positive Tests: .0114 (.0054) [+.006]

Current Hospitalizations: 1,239 (891) [348] **

For context, the NCDHHS data begins on 03/02/2020. However, on 03/16/2020 calculation of total tests begin to be documented. On 04/10/2020 NC reported a day's testing of 10,000+ for the first time. This means there are roughly 136 days’ worth of solid data (using 03/16/2020-07/30/2020).

@Thunder_struck8712
What do you propose as a viable solution to the present situation?

giphy.gif

His solution is pray that Biden wins. If, God help us if he does, he wins then he and the socialist party will miraculously forget about Covid 19, it is something they will tell us "we all need to learn to live with it" and move on to destroying capitalism and freedoms we now enjoy. If, and when he does, President Trump wins they will continue to clamor to shutdown the Government and that the big bad orange man is killing people. They could care less about Covid patients...if they did why did four democrat governors send elderly to nursing homes instead of hospitals? They just want power. Bottom line.

A real life dilemma faced by many. My suggestion would be that they handle the situation just as they did with SARS, H1N1, or any other of the major viral outbreaks we’ve had in recent years.....

He had Stage 4 colon cancer for the last four years......get a grip man.
The information I posted came directly from Cain’s Twitter feed and Newsmax. Fox News just reported the same diagnosis. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2006 and has been cancer free since 2007. All of that according to his representatives. Believe what you want.
