I have no doubt it will be shut down for all if it's shut down unless there are adjustments made to try and get it all in somehow.
I can see schools in our area following WSFCS in high school athletics voluntary workouts in August.WSPrep & Bishop from the Northwest Conference are in Forsyth Co.

Bishop is actually private so not sure what they are doing.
Still NCHSAA member. They usually follow what WSFCS does.
You are right, I am really basing my comment on snow days and stuff like that.
As of this morning, 49 of the 117 public school districts have decided to start the school year virtually.
Should be easier to win a state title this year then.
Let me just state the obvious here. If it is your time to die, you are going to die. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Whether it’s a heart attack, cancer, covid, or getting run over by a train. You don’t have the day so in when you die. I’m not saying not to wash your hands or sanitize by any means. Being extra clean is always a good thing no matter what kind of crud is going around. I work in the public each and every day. In Swain County, Macon County, Jackson County and I live in Graham County. I come in contact with thousands of people every day. If I have had COVID, I sure don’t know it. My guess is that I probably have but I’m not sitting here freaking out about it.
We'll let you be the spokesperson for the state then. You can inform any family that loses a child, teacher, coach, or check any other loved one for that matter that.
It doesn't matter if 10 plays or 100 plays..Baring any injuries ,the stage is already set. 2 schools are all that have a chance of winning the 1A State Championship this year..Both from the SMC
Here's the question? Providing there is a season, no doubt some teams will not play..So where will the cutoff be this year for 1A-1AA?
If there is a season and some teams don't play, I think there would be 2 scenarios, either there is just 1 state championship per classification so no cut line or the number of teams that get into the playoffs are reduced. I'd say the state would want to have 8 championships for the money but what if there are only 50 teams playing?
Heck in 4A its highly likely no one from Mecklenburg, Wake, Guilford, or Forsyth County plays this year.

Some schools may opt out, but that shouldn’t impact playoffs too much. The NCHSAA could start the regular season either Sept.25 or Oct.2 and still get 7 regular season games in and playoffs. They may need to reduce all classifications down 1 round, 32 total teams and still have state championships on December 11-12.
I don't see any school doing virtual having sports. With that said over 50 districts are going that direction, so there would be a lot of schools not playing.
Football may start for a short-lived period. As soon as COVID-19 starts hitting a few schools, then it will be canceled, maybe to next spring and maybe not at all for 2020-2021

Cooper is allowing bars to stay open to 11 p.m., "protests" can still go on but not church services. This is going to be with us like the flu, pneumonia etc.... take precautions and deal with it like it's part of everyday life. Take precautions if you are high risk. Watch and see after Nov. 3rd.....it will fade away like the swine flu did when Obama mandated that testing stop. Guess that's one way to defeat a pandemic.

I think they should at least start the season and see how it goes. No doubt there will be some outbreaks and some games will get forfeits but I think you have to try. If its all or nothing then there will be no sports this entire year. Maybe sports will help. I could see communities, parents, coaches, players, etc., really taking hygiene to the next level trying to keep teams safe so they get to play. It could be exactly what we need as a whole to get more people focused on stopping the virus.

Right now its 1 kid per seat on school buses. So usually 20-26 kids depending on bus size.

The ACC is playing football.....now tell me that politics have nothing to do with the decision whether or not to play high school football again....I'll sit back and wait for the liberals to gather their talking points from MSM before they respond. Football should be played across the state. If parents do not feel comfortable then don't let their kids play.
