Coach Davis is doing a phenomenal job with the Clinton basketball program. Not only is the talent much lesser than years past, but the kids that are now tasked to pull the weight for this team have basically taken a year off from basketball. Cameron Lawson, Jalen Owens, and Carson Ellis played very minimal basketball last year with the senior talent that Clinton had, and now being seniors themselves, have now basically been thrown into the fire playing big minutes and playing in situations they’ve never seen except from the bench. Saying all that, Coach Davis has a tremendous challenge on his hands, but who better for the job? To add on that, Coach Davis is rebuilding a culture that has been pretty cancerous over the last few years. Instead of building from the ground up, he’s having to tear down and then build back up, which isn’t an overnight process, but you can already see slight changes. I without a doubt know we will see a disciplined and more fundamental basketball team for the future of Clinton basketball. Sit back and watch this team grow this year whether that comes in form of Wins or “Lessons”. Go Horses!
