Asheville 27 Pisgah 9 and other MAC scores

Asheville beats Pisgah at home 27-9. Asheville moves to 3-0. Pisgah drops to 2-1. I'm not sure about the other MAC scores but yall can post them here.

As for our game. I feel the same way after this one as I did after the first 2. Its very hard to watch us play this year through 3 games. It is hard to watch that many talented players on one team and everything look like a struggle. Pisgah had some fight in them and they are no slouch of a team, but we should have blown that team off the field. We were in complete control of the game the entire way, but for whatever reason we are just terrible with the lead. Its like we just put it in cruise control once we go up 14 and become the most predictable high school team in the country. For the life of me I still cannot understand we do not try to get the ball in Makaus Brewer and Isaiah Drummonds hands more. We threw to those guys maybe 3-4 times total and they caught everything for about 150 yards. There are dozens of plays where a single smaller corner is one on one with these guys and we don't even ATTEMPT to throw one up to them. Its frustrating to watch this team, its like watching a Ferrari go around a race track going 35 mph. I am not impressed so far with this team if we are really a top 5-6 team in 3a.

The midgets from Belmont.

  • The little town of Smellmont where midgets go to breed. We are short and weak and don't have any speed. We went to the Ranch thinking we might have a chance, but didn't take long till we messed in our pants.Coach these guys are to big and fast as can be, none of them buckled when we chopped at their knee.Coach they keep coming and coming knocking us down, running right through us and passing all around.Up on the scoreboard its not what we thought we would see. It's the end of the game and Crest is taking a knee. We run to the bus as fast as we can, please driver get us back to smellmont as fast as you can back to little people land.

bishop 34 alleghany 22

Alleghany gave it there best effort and could have won the game if it wasnt for a few missed errors. 23 has got to learn to hold on to the football. Sure he had almost 200yrds rushing but the kidd fumbles every game. Fumbled against north stokes killed opening drive of game, fumbled on kick return last week and fumbled inside the 10 yrd line when it was tied at 22 and bishops defense was wore out. The kidd fumbled alot last year too sheesh. Few ?s for coach sessoms 1. what is the deal with having your qbs run a marathon to u on the sidelines so u can whisper the plays in their ear. I meen it would be one thing if we had a complicated playbook but we only have like a total of 7 plays at most in our playbook their has got to be a better way to get play to qb. Alleghany fumbles the opening kickoff of the game, big boy picks up the squib kick and tries to run and fumbles. 2. Coach shouldnt u teach lineman to just falldown if they get the kickoff not try and be heros? hell we even had the qb line up under the guard on accident one play. 3. #3 was hurt tonight but coach y let him be the workhorse last week all the way down the field in 1st half getting u down to 1st and goal at the 8 and then never give him the ball again on that drive and start throwing passes? 4. take the reverse play out of our 7 page play book, it hasnt worked all year long and is a huge drive killer when we lose 5 yrds everytime its run. 5. I understand u throw the ball at the end and get down to the 15 but why not try to run it in from there. Sure there was only 3 and half minutes left but why not do what was done all night and hammer that thing in. When the field is short like that go ahead and run it in because the whole world knows the ball is goin to avery hash if u throw it. 6. Last ? why not call ur 3 timeouts and get the ball back at the end of the game. I understand there was slightly less than 3 minutes left but hey u never know what can happen.

I wasnt goin to post about alleghany this year because when we r outmatched and take a buttwhippin, bitchin about the coach doesnt really matter, but tonight was a different story and we should have won that game.

Proud of alleghanys effort tonight they played with alot of heart and 23 u r a very good runner just put some stick em on those gloves. Much improved team over the last 2 weeks, hopefully we get 1st win vs south stokes next week and build off that.

Ninja

Just wondering how that 3 headed monster backfield is doing stat wise now??? Ya know, after the Panther defense shut them down.

Like I've said all along, if the offense can move the ball, we will be fine my friend. Defensively, we are quick all over the field. It was just a matter of time until the offense started clicking.

Mooresville 44 Hopewell 20

This one got started after a one hour lightning delay. When it began though, the Hopwell Titans came out throwing, as in a deep slant across the middle that went for 70 yards and a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage. Mooresville answered back and both teams traded scores thereafter. Hopewell got another deep ball connection and led 20-14 at the half. But the Blue Devils scored in the third to take a one point lead despite a multitude of penalties. The fourth quarter was all Mooresville as they appeared to hit their stride. This game was MUCH closer than the final score. Hats off to the Titans for their efforts. Their passing game shows promise. Mooresville prepares for a trip to Kannapolis next week.

fresh off the jdnews press! East Duplin beats the best team in Onslow County! (according to ninja)

according to ninja WO would beat us 33-14 and WO has a hellacious backfield. well we ran on WO at will and shut their vaunted backfield down for the most part. they scored on our subs with 2 min left in the game. i guess we dont have to worry about anything from Onslow County then huh? you really hit the mark on that one ninja.

Andrews at Mitchell

Wow, what a ride. Hats off to a very strong Mitchell team. In my opinion, they might be the strongest line we will face. Their defense is as solid as they come and they swarm to the ball. Linebackers and corners are not going to let you run. Andrews started the game out moving the ball past mid field and our defense was tough throughout the first Qtr and didn't give up a score till the 5:50 mark of the 2nd Qtr. On that drive we gave up a 3rd down completion when 2 defenders totally misjudged the ball. From that point on it was a long night. that drive was Mitchell's first score, then their defense blocked 2 punts deep around our 20 and scored 2 more times before half. To me that was the game changer. Our QB got banged up on the 2nd play of game and played hurt through the first half. Having said all this do not take that in anyway Im making excuses and Im not taking anything away from Mitchell who I think can play with the best of the SMC and the state. But I do believe our defense could have been more competitive. Good luck to Mitchell in their journey to the 1AA title

Rosman 37 Madison County 7!

The Rosman Tiger offense roared once again tonight, and ended a 6 game losing streak to the 2A Patriots....Tigers threw for 2 scores to Tanner Green and Gage Orr, and both Orr and Green rushed for 2 TDs apiece as Rosman piled-up over 500yds of total offense, while the defense had a stellar night, allowing a single TD for the 3rd consecutive game with No score allowed by the 1st team Defense....Tanner Green was sensational tonight with 5 Sacks.....Also Kudos to Jr. QB Tesnow who continues to do an amazing job under center for the Tigers, and had a 6yd TD pass tonight to Orr....

Tigers move to 3-0 for the first time since the 2001 season, and will host a good Mountain Heritage Cougar team next friday at Silversteen Memorial Stadium probably and likely to a packed house in Tigertown....

Keep er' going boys!

On a side note, I could not make the game tonight, but did enjoy listening to Mike and Matt for the first time, and must say they did a great job with the broadcast!

Roar Tigers Roar!

Mid State Week 3

Good week for the conference, going 6-3 with no big surprises.

Eastern Alamance 41 Southern Alamance 7: Eagles only led 7-0 at the half, but turned on the jets after the break cruising to a 41-7 victory. Never know what you're gonna get in a rivalry game, and it appears Southern came to play in the opening frame. EA defense again looks good limiting the Patriots to under 150 yards of offense, while racking up over 500 of their own.

Northern Guilford 21 Northwest Guilford 13: The rumors of the Nighthawks demise have been greatly exaggerated. Northern's defense proved solid against a NW team that had put up lots of points the previous two weeks. With CJ Freeman, and especially with Johnny Roscoe at the helm, you can't rule out Northern's chances to reclaim the conference crown.

Butler 45 Western Alamance 0: As expected, a one sided affair. Never a bad thing to try and challenge yourself, but I think the best case scenario in this game was that the Warriors walked away with no one injured. As long as that is the case, WA can be happy keeping the game under 50 and move onto conference play next week.

Eastern Guilford 17 Broughton 13: Wildcats go to Raleigh and get a victory over a winless Broughton team. Wildcats will have the week off next week before playing host to NE Guilford.

Reidsville 31 Morehead 21: Maybe the best chance for the Panthers to get a victory over Reidsville for the first time in years does not come to fruition. Sounds like the Rams forced several turnovers and Morehead could never mount a serious challenge in this one.

Williams 24 Cummings 21: Battle of Burlington came down to the wire with Williams scoring a touchdown with about two minutes left to secure the victory. Bulldogs seemed to be in good shape but two Cavs TD's in about two minutes in the fourth quarter forced Williams into comeback mode. Gets considerably harder the next three weeks with the Bulldogs playing the three kings of the conference, Nothern, Western and Eastern back to back to back.

McMichael 43 Martinsville 36: Two wins in a row for the Phoenix. For a team that only won one game over the last two years that is a good sign. They will have to play Eastern Alamance next week so the celebration might be short lived, but there are positive signs for the program.

Rockingham County 41 Eastern Randolph 24: After suffering close losses the last two weeks, the Cougars used a 20 point fourth quarter to finally break through in the win column. Three winnable games coming up for RC, who will try and get back in the playoffs this year. First up is NE Guilford next week.

Ragsdale 48 NE Guilford 42 OT: Rams came close to notching their first victory of the season, battling it out with 4A Ragsdale, but could not pull it out in the end. NE will try and carry that momentum over into conference play next week.

Jacksonville vs Northside

How bad does Northside beat up on the Cards? Since two weeks ago all the Onslow County football gurus said they were real deal and the average Jacksonville team would get blown out by 30. I say they beat Jacksonville by 21 that will put them back in the conversation as great because they beat a 3a school....or if the Cards win by 40 and I did say if.. then hey they are supposed to because they are 3a.
