SEC Week 6

Last week of non conference

Scotland @ Panther Creek Scots 41-20
Richmond @ Dudley Raiders 24 - 23
Q Foundation @ Pinecrest Pinecrest 48 - 14
Triton @ Lumberton Lumberton 27 - 14
New Hanover @ Purnell Swett New Hanover 41 - 14
Hoke @ Rocky Mount Rocky Mount 28 - 13

MAC week 5 picks...

North Buncombe at Mitchell
Hendersonville at Reynolds
Brevard at Enka
Mcdowell at Owen
Roberson at Crest
Franklin at Erwin

My picks..

Mitchell 42 NB 35...Mitchell has been killing people but they have played a very weak schedule. NB may be without their qb. If that is the case it will be a lot worse.

Reynolds 55 Hendo 14.... Hendersonville just got waxed by North Henderson. This will be a game for Reynolds to rest Rico and get ready for the Warriors next week.

Enka 28 Brevard 14... There is no excuse for Enka losing to Hayesville, but this week they have a very easy home game.

Owen 35 Mcdowell 14.....I really thought Mcdowell might be improved but after they got killed by a 1A team on their field I think they are in real trouble this season.

Crest 48 TCR 0...Ugly...That is all I have.

Erwin 35 Franklin 28...Erwin's brutal non-conference schedule continues. Franklin will feel like playing a middle school team compared to the competition the Warriors have seen the last two weeks, and that is not a shot at Franklin because they are a very good team. I think the Panthers will have a hard time containing Erwin's receivers.

Robert Washington

Is the kid going to sit out the season because of transcript issues and are those transcript issues bad enough that the ncaa isn't going to like his transcript either.

Seems like there is something going on with him and its hard to believe that they would force this kid to miss part of the season because they just haven't gotten around to reviewing his transcript or worried about where exactly he is living.

Lake Taylor (VA)/Northeastern

Tough task this Friday night for the Eagles as powerhouse Lake Taylor makes the hour and half drive down to Elizabeth City. Northeastern coming off a crushing one point lost to Wilson-Hunt while Lake Taylor had a bye. Lake Taylor won the 4A State Championship last year and is ranked #2 in VA and #25 in the nation. Definitely will be a tough task for Northeastern and don't see them stopping the Titans. Lake Taylor's defense is led by 4* Ohio State commit Wayne Davis and 3* Temple commit Keyvone Bruton. The titans will be running behind 3* recruit Michael Carney, who is 6'3 310. Easily the biggest team NHS has seen awhile. I'm going Lake Taylor over Northeastern 49-7

Northeastern/Lake Taylor

I was at that game and to all you guys who think the conference is weak there are a few teams that could play with any team in the state but the teams from the Raleigh area aren't willing to travel to northeastern NC because they are afraid if they don't win they will look bad in the polls but I give the teams from VA. a lot of respect because they are willing to play Edenton,Northeastern,Currituck, and first Flight even some VA. teams have even played Camden County but the Raleigh teams are afraid to play them unless they are willing to come to Raleigh. Lake Taylor who is ranked #25 in the country and # 2 in the state of VA. were willing to risk their ranking to give Northeastern the opportunity to play them and Northeastern actually out played them although they had three D1 prospect in the secondary on the first play from scrimmage when Northeastern got the ball they lined up in a three stack receiver and Northeastern QB hit # 5 Overton their go to receiver in his hand wild open nothing but day light in front of him but he dropped the ball. Those two blocked punt for td's that Lake Taylor got really hurt Northeastern but still Northeastern was in the game until about 20's second left. What happen was # 8 for Lake Taylor Davis who is committed to Ohio State went out with cramps earlier and when he came back in the secondary for got about him and he was wild open in the back of the end zone. One thing the state of NC should be proud of Northeastern and Edenton Holmes because Holmes have a ton of injuries right now and went to Norfolk and beat Booker T. Washington who's in the same conference as Lake Taylor also Holmes JV beat Booker T. Washington JV on Thursday and Northeastern JV beat Lake Taylor JV on Thursday in Norfolk.

Hoggard 24 Clinton 21

Clinton falls to 4A Hoggard for its first loss of the season.....probably will dropped in the rankings and off most experts list we will fade off peoples radar but this game reminds me Alot of the East Bladen loss last year...we made Alot of mistakes tonight penalties killed what could of been a game winning drive and a final turnover sealed the deal...we know we can be beat now so it's Alot of work that still needs to be done I expect the team to be pissed off by this just like last year and we saw what happened after we lost...I'll say this right now I feel sorry for that Pender team that comes to Dark Horse Stadium next Friday......Congrats to the Hoggard Vikings and their fans they have a solid football team and it showed good game PortcityFB if you're reading this maybe we can get some payback next year.....Skinner was the man tonight 3 TDs 2 rushing one Receiving over 100 yards again.....defense stepped up in the 2nd half after that awful first half...I'm extremely proud of this team tonight they fought back and almost stole victory...keep your heads up fellas long season ahead get ready for next week....A minor setback...get ready for a major comeback GO HORSES!!!!!!!

Wildcats win

Wildcats looked good last night in Hayesville but the officials were flag happy for 3 Qtrs. I have never seen so many in all my life. We came in banged up and Hayesville had a couple out too. This was not a conference game so it will be a different game when everybody is healthy and the field is not covered all night with flags. It was a win we needed after playing 3 2A schools and a undefeated Mitchell team

Lexington vs North Davidson

I know it may sound strange but I think Lexington can beat North Davidson. I realize they have not played the schedule North has , but they are a very good football team in every way.......Offense is very very good. Defense is swarming , Db's have a D1 prospect. I know North are the Big boys and 4A against a 2A , but do not overlook this bunch this year........Might be 33-24 ND but it might be 33-24 Lexington....Hope I'm Right when I say goooooooooooooooooooo Jackets......it's your turn.

Way to go Bartlett Yancey

Anyone who has coached for or against Bartlett Yancey knows that they have always had athletes. They have even had several good lineman. (One great lineman, Michael Brooks who got a Super Bowl ring with the Seahawks) They just never lived up to their potential. They had almost zero community support and had a principal that did everything she could to hurt the program. The weight room is in an aluminum building that floods when it rains. I would like to congratulate the new coach on his success. I always knew the kids there could win games. They just needed support from the administration. Well.....the old principal got arrested for selling school equipment to a local pawn shop and now the football team is 2-1 with their only loss to Person County, by 5. Great job Bartlett Yancey. I hope that the kids there finally get to have a good experience and that the community support explodes. I think the school will finally find out that if football is successful then everything else at the school is better off. Good luck Buccaneers!!

Early surprises...

After the first month...what are your top three surprises? I would list Cherokee as a positive surprise. They seem to be much improved. Second would be East Montgomery. This could be their breakthrough year. My last one might not be what you expect. ( It isn't Albemarle.). My third surprise is Williams at North Stanly. With an offer to Wisconsin, some guys would be happy to coast through the senior year free of injury. He seems set to break our rushing records before he goes off to college. Your thoughts?
