Clinton

First off seniors great career thanks for the hard work and memories it was a pleasure to watch y'all play and grow over the years....For everyone coming back next season starts now weight room conditioning and hit those books stay eligible..... With everything we have coming back we can do something special and be right back in the same position.... Overall great season guys shame it ended the way it did but oh well keep your heads held high brush it off and let's do it next season.....Skinner ,Faison, and Murphy should be on the 2A all state team when the list comes out.Once again great season GO HORSES!!!!!

Murphy and toughness

There has been some comments about the bulldogs not being mean or tough enough personally I don't think that's it at all. Now my knowledge of the bulldogs only goes back 4 seasons but I think it's really about talent. Go back 4 yrs and Murphy is killing Robbinsville. Fairly equal line play but Murphy a lot better at the skill positions. Last year and this year equal at skill positions for the most part but Robbinsville with probably the best line in the state at the 1a level wins out. You can be tough as nail but that won't keep #74 from pushing your around. Just a talented bunch on the line to give credit where it is due.

Catholic 17 Dudley 8

What a game! Catholic finally gets over the Dudley hump, third times the charm I guess. I do want to first start out by thanking Dudley for being such gracious host. They are some of the classiest guys in all of HS FB in this state. Win or lose they do it right, and with class. Count me in as a Dudley fan!
Catholic started out this game hot. After a scoreless first quarter they score on the first play of the 2nd Q on a 5yrd run by Jaret Anderson.
Soon after CC fell on a bad snap by the Dudley punt team and got a FG out of it to make ti 10-0.
Dudley answered to draw within 2 at 10-8 at halftime after a great drive, and 2pt conversion.
After that Catholic shut down Dudley on offense. The Cougars got several stops in the 3rd Q which were key. Including stopping Dudley on 4th down well in Catholic territory I think mid way through the 3rd.
Anderson would rip off a huge about 60 yard run to set up CC's final score. A scoring pass from Walton to Connor Miller.
Ben Brodowicz and Greyson Krone both had INTs in the final 6 minutes to seal the W for the Cougars. Awesome win, but not done yet. One more to go.
GO COUGARS!
Also was great to meet BK#77, and Scotswin. Both class individuals and glad I finally got to meet them. Also talked to two North Davidson players on the sideline during the first half, great kids. Best of luck to them!

Schools with artificial turf

The subject of artificial turfs was just broached in another topic. I certainly understand the pros and cons of it. Pros are safety from muddy fields, a pristine field all year, less maintenance, etc. Cons are costs that many counties can't afford, losing the feel of "real, dirty football, and not being able to dress the field up (lines) for different sports. It seems that artificial turfs are plentiful in the Charlotte area and the mountains area. I am surprised that there aren't many, if any in the Greensboro, Raleigh, and Fayetteville areas, that I know of anyway. My question to you is are there any artificial turfs at schools that AREN'T considered to be Charlotte and mountain area schools? This is mainly for my education, because I don't know of any, but would love to learn if there are.

Congrats South Point. Get bent KM..

Just want to congratulate a team with a huge heart. I'm in LA vacationing but I got updates from the diehards. My room was reserved in Chapel Hill days ago. Let me take you all back a couple years. Some of you KM clowns have been thumping your pigeon chests with gay abandon all week about how Kings MTn would be "bringing it" to Belmont on Friday night along with 8000 plus of your toothless fans. What an overrated joke the Mounties were tonight as we exposed them for what they were. Our eternal door mat. Karma is the great equalizer and this Friday night was no exception. Would have had a better effort from our local Belmont Pop Warner Raiders. Enjoy basketball season chumps..

Question for Brian Simmons, Simmons Ratings

Hey Mr. Simmons. I have enjoyed your site for many years, and respect the work you put into it. And the accuracy of your predictions using your formulas is more than impressive. I have never had a reason to question it until now, and I'm not being biased. I'm genuinely curious.
In the wake of the regional championship games, you have SW Edgecombe ranked and rated one spot ahead of Kinston. The strength of schedule also favors SWE 39 to 52. By all accounts, your system has SWE as being the better team. However, the same system has Kinston winning the teams' meeting by 1. I'm assuming that it has to do with Kinston being at home. First, is that correct? And if it is, how much of an advantage is home field within your system?

Has Crest petitioned the NCHSAA to move game?

It is well documented that the field at Concord high is unsafe and unfit to play on. With all the rain this week, that field will be the worst it has been. The NCHSAA has the authority to move the game to another location such as the AL Brown field. Concord would still enjoy all the profits and local support. I think it would be much better for all parties if the game is moved.

Mark Richt in south Florida

I know this isn't exactly 4A playoff talk, but he did recruit a decent amount out of NC. I know he will have fertile recruiting ground in south Florida, but NC does have some of the best linebackers and defensive ends around that were highly sought after. You think some NC standouts will be lured to south Florida(yeah I know alot of people would like them to stay home but nc players are not known to be committed to any conference or region) based on his recruiting relationship to NC?
