New NCHSAA Commissioner

Que Tucker has been named the new commissioner of the NCHSAA.

Also tabled but not approved is a men's basketball proposal to place teams by how each is ranked by Maxpreps within their respective seeds. This means a two seed would get positioned after the one seeds by taking the rankings produced by Maxpreps instead of won/loss or draws. This could be an improvement for football as well giving value to strength of schedule.

Also schools who have games on Time Warner will receive a small stipend. Not sure the amount but I think it was $500.

New Forest Hills Coach announced.......

Cory Smith has been named new head football coach at Forest Hills. Former All Conference QB at Sun Valley High School and Pembroke University. As QB at Pembroke he threw for over 5000 yards, 50 touchdowns and a record of 24-9 in 3 years as starter. He has been QB coach under John Lowery 3 years and Baseball coach 2011-2014. Good Luck coach Smith as head coach of the Yellow Jackets!!!

Cherokee Boys & Girls

The Braves look great again this year. I was thinking the Lady Braves might slip a little after losing 2 key players but I actually think they are as good as last years team. The boys are the same. Their speed is awesome and they can go 12 deep and not lose a step. Even though both teams lost big time players I feel like they are playing team ball which is hard to beat

James Kenan

I am in shock that James Kenan's fans showed such a lack of respect for Head Coach Ken Avent Jr and his staff. The fans chanted at times to change QB's and there was even a call on Facebook over the weekend for a coaching change. Suddenly four 4th round appearances in a row and a 2013 State Championship aren't good enough for a head coach that has won half of the school's total State Titles. Total lack of respect for a good coach. I hope Coach Avent has thicker skin than this poster does. Because I'd hate to see the Tigers in the state they were in before Coach Mott...

Basketball Cherokee 92 - A.C. Reynolds 89

What a game! Braves are the real deal. Not much height, but hustle, hustle, hustle!!! And score, score, score!!! Reynolds played one heckuva game. They can shoot the lights out of it from beyond the 3 pt. line!

Braves are relentless. They can run 15 players in and out and the quality of play is about the same! On to Andrews tomorrow night.

Go Braves!!!
