i have noticed an unusually high number of successful coaches making changes across the state. . Now I heard Shelby head coach is in running for TL Hannah job in SC. Any insight as to why the big shake up?

Simple pay in NC is terrible , how teachers are treated terrible, the sport of football is treated terribly by the NCHSAA so coaches go to much more greener pastures

+1 you are correct. As a coach and teacher the only reason I'm still in NC is because of family.

By no means was I trying to be political but if you look at the states that surround us Virginia, Tennesee, and South Carolina all pay their teachers better and all like their football more and all have no problem hiring NC teachers and coaches

Draw pension from North Carolina and salary from Virginia or South Carolina. Significant financial incentive. If you live near the border of either state, you don't even have to move.

SC...retire, one day, return to work. NC, retire...six months, return to work for half pay max or less than 20 hours per week OR YOU LOSE YOUR RETIREMENT INSURANCE FOR Obamacareless coverage. NC encourages veterans to retire.

Especially if you got started right out of college. Retire from NC at still a young age, move onto another state and still get in their retirement system. Put in 10 and you can retire from there and still not be old.

If a person will work until they are at least 62 and started right out of college you can get 30 in NC. Take the monthly retirement, work in SC for ten years and be in their retirement system.

Smart thing to do is not touch if financially feasible is not touch the NC retirement money and invest that. When you hit ten in SC your NC retirement principal will be there plus the investment profits. NC and SC retirement plus the investment monies should make for a nice life.

Lets pay coaches and teachers in NC better!!!

Hahahaha Lance Is a great Coach I would be scared to lose him I still don't see him leaving Shelby

Crest people are the only ones saying this.....why?

Sounds like Crestrulz has first hand knowledge of the situation. I have read Rulz on here for years and he will spew a ton of crap but when he makes a point he never lies. Always to the point. If Rulz says its happening, it must be happening.

True indeed. Rulz knows his stuff. I believe him without a shadow of a doubt. Ware is still a young man, and though many, including myself, would be greatly disappointed, it would be actually a great move for him, career wise and for his family. The man can flat out coach, and the players and the community will love him wherever he's at. Again, he's still a young man, and at this stage of his career, you can't really knock him for looking into an opportunity like this, if that's indeed the case.

One thing that I've learned in life, though, things just don't come out of thin air, where there's smoke, there's fire. He nor Emery were in school today. Makes you wonder, but regardless, Rulz is highly credible, despite how some may feel about him.

Lance has done an outstanding job at Shelby and his stock is high....but I wouldn't bet the house on him not being back at Shelby next year.

Hey 9496,it looks like you guys got a good hire over there. You pretty happy with it?

He applied, but was not offered the job. I'm betting that you knew this, though.
I never once said Lance was leaving. I said he applied and was being considered. That was the absolute truth. I have no reason to lie, go ask Lance. I don't care what anyone thinks about me as LA said. I simply told you something I learned. Why would anyone judge how they feel about me off a message board anyway? Anyone that knows me personally, understands crestrulz, is not indicative of John on an everyday basis. This is a freaking message board. I like to talk trash, so what. What I wouldn't do is spread a lie about Lance Ware. Lastly, if he ever does leave, you Shelby fans were all over us about how Clark supposedly got done. He's available, hire him, and make it right.

Yes sir.....we got a good one and we're fortunate. He's a high character guy that can flat out coach according to those that have coached with him or against him. He understands big time football.....coached at RC for 9 yrs and played at ECU.

Sounds good, just hope your fans can be patient with him. This community with Shelby and Crest is so spoiled.

You'll always have some that'll never be happy and yes spoiled is an understatement

Actually, Ware is still in the running for that job, it hasn't been offered yet. Former Crest Coach, Matt Barnes, applied for the job, too, but is not among the final 4 who are still in the running.

His record speaks loudly. Good luck to him either way. Great guy.

How many years does he currently have in NC system.

I've been saying for a while the NCHSAA and the state got to start treating the teachers and coaches better in the classroom and better pay. These people got to support their family and you cannot blame them. While a top coach in some states like Ga. and Sc. can make from $75,000 to $100,000 dollars or better coaching plus some even get a free vehicle from the booster club or school.

Coach Herron from Georgia got the TL Hanna job.... Ware and Barnes were in the final four

Herron spent the last season at Grayson GA leading them to the big school state title. Impressive. Has won state titles at three or four schools in GA.

Is that the school that the Lincolnton QB recently transferred to?

I am gonna guess Ware was sending out feelers. He was probably given the best offer of the 4 and walked away. Hanna has had like 1 winning season in the last 10 years. Would be tough to walk away from a possible 5-peat for a team that struggles to have a winning season. Yeah it would be a challenge but that would be tough to walk into....even if the money is what it is.

LOL! If they would have offered him the job. He was outta here Jack! $106,000 dollars a year. He did not put out feelers. He APPLIED for the job. He did not apply for the heck of it. He's done all he needs to do at Shelby, quit kidding yourself.

Ties rules....ties. Crest isn't too familiar with that. Only 5 head coaches in 100 years and 4 of the 5 came from Shelby. He has a lot of ties here. You can't buy ties. You apply and get leverage....maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

You can buy a lot of ties for %106,000 dollars a year my man. Ties don't pay the bills, that's what money does.

May be but right at $50k a year is a big jump in pay when it is basically doubling your current pay. The guy that got the job has a pretty impressive resume, also. Think he is about 278-52 in 27 seasons. He took Camden County from a little better than average to national prominence. Took Oconee from 2-8 to a state title. Cedar Shoals won one game the season before he arrived. They won nine and ten games in subsequent seasons. Won big at small privates to the largest classification in the state including last season. Lance would have been a great choice but it appears they have an impressive one lined up. Glad he is still in NC but if he wanted the job wish he would have got it.
