Shelby vs Lincolnton

I am making the assumption based on the fact that they have a team that can play with anyone when they are healthy and in tact. You don't. Please, you want no part of Crest, I'll not even go there. You're wanting greatness to be handed to you by mentioning Lincolnton in the same sentence as the Mighty Crest Chargers, winners of 30 games in a row, The Five Time State Champions,. It's easy to type it, when you know there isn't a chance of it happening. We already play plenty of Lincolnton's in Burke County.

Shelby should beat the piss out of you. They're better, even if they won't type it. I will. They have a great football team this year. Type your schedule then type theirs. It's easy to see.

I hope this guy does
My take......Lincolnton has to mistake free. We can't turn the ball over. Similar to the East Lincoln game. We made to many mistakes. Our defense has improved but Shelby will puts point up on us. We need to control the clock with our run game and score on almost every drive.
While I agree 100% ………for us to be in this game and have a chance since most seem to think the unstoppable can't be stopped....You are right we have to play almost a near perfect game....unlike the 4 turnovers against East that they turned into points every time by RUNNING the ball in a monsoon or yet trying to force the issue of getting the ball to players that have been with very limited offensive production all season which have cause unnecessary turnovers.... but Shelby on film airs it out without question and yes it will pose a serious question for our secondary as it has for EVERY other opponent they've faced this year....but note....like another poster said previously....the team with the least turnovers, penalties and best clock management should be victorious in the end....I don't forsee an out of control scoring game due to this rain factor unless their field drains well...then things could get ugly quick either way....our run first pass when needed approach versus their air it out attack and run when needed approach will be great to witness......

Shelby's field has really good drainage plus there is no chance of rain after Wednesday afternoon.Perfect football weather Friday.

2 questions: One serious, the other not.

1) Has anybody here actually witnessed BOTH of these teams play this year? (I accept on face value that Shelby is great. And that they should, as the favorite, win. Not sure how 'expert' analysis is, if you never saw one of the teams, and likely only saw the other only once)
2) Do y'all Shelby posters desire / appreciate Crestrulz' support? lol...(He wore y'all out pretty good this year!)

I'll also settle for winning by 1, and because of luck or happenstance.

As for the coaching staff? The new staff has the Wolves in the 4th round, is averaging 40 and GETS TO PLAY SHELBY for the right to go to the 'Ship!
Seems like they just might be doing OK!? And none are 'new' anyway. I am a great fan of this offense, though. If we get behind, we actually have a shot to catch up!

(We might put 40 on Shelby!) And it might not be enough!

'Rulz...I enjoy your posts! Keep 'em coming! :)

Wait... Crest only has 5 State Championships? I coulda sworn it had to be more! What's Shelby got?

I may be wrong and if so feel free to correct me, wasn't there was one year that Lincolnton was trying to tear up our field after they won by taking it as a souvenir?

I've seen Lincolnton play all but 1 game this year, and I saw Shelby play at Kings Mountain. That was a hard game to gauge Shelby on because the weather was awful and it had a pretty negative impact on Shelby's passing game. I thought Shelby's running game was underrated and I wondered why they didn't run the ball more.

The one thing that concerns me most, as I'm sure it does every team that plays Shelby, is our ability to cover 4-5 really good receivers at a time. #5 and #6 are as explosive as anyone I've seen all year. I think the obvious key is for us to not turn the ball over and to have long drives that end in touchdowns and make extra points. Another huge key will be how much pressure we can get on the QB and not let him stand still until a receiver comes open. I think we're capable of pulling off the upset but it will take the best game we've played all year and maybe a break or two somewhere along the line.

Gosh. I've never heard that, but I hope it's true!

I've been on it a lot of times, and its a great field...but I never thought of appropriating a keepsake!

lol I hear ya. I just remember someone at the game telling me that, but I had already left. May not have been true. I think it was that 2001 game.

A great story either way! If we win Friday, I'm headed in for a pinch of Bermuda.

QB Lee doesn't come out of the pocket. He has excellent pass blocking this season. Even when the field is wide open he rarely ever puts the wheels down. Shelby hasn't played conservative. If the get out fast they step on the throat.

L-Town QB has a tendency to stare down his receivers I noticed, and that's good.

Lol.....never heard of stare but he does tend to hold the ball a tad bit longer than needed at times which irratates the beejeezus out of me....especially when trying to get the ball down field....but I think he'll be fine come Friday...

I was there and do not remember that happening!

The story about the field is very true. I remember it like it was yesterday. A thick fog rolled in at half time. You could barley see the players on the field from the stands.Difference in the game shelby missed a extra point we won 28-27. Almost everyone in the stands stormed the field.people was pulling up turf and cramming it in their pockets. I still got mine in a sandwich bag at the house!!!!!

There you have it.

It was 2001... We won in LTown 45-31 earlier in the season, then yall beat us at home in playoffs.... Didn't know that about the turf.... Seemed like that was the first time you all had beaten us in a long time.. 1967 was last time I believe until 2001

All I. An remember it was 30 plus years prior to that game. But after that game we seem to have gotten a monkey off our back and won a couple more times through the years. But that 01 game was sweet

Correct

Won again in

2003: 20-14
2008: 14-10
2010: 21-0
2011: 42-14

Been some battles over the years

One thing that has impressed me about L-Town on some of your hudl highlights is the size and physical play of your oline.

Lincolnton folks will get a chance to see #44 Dax Hollifield at linebacker. Kid is everywhere. Only a sophomore he will get a lot of offers as a senior. Kid will light someone up. Hollifield doesn't wait to make a tackle- he goes and delivers the blow.

Sounds like Mr. Hollifield and Mr.Dameron might see each other in the hole Friday night,he won't dodge a hit either

Dax, already has a lot of offers.

The one thing that impresses me with Both programs is that they both seem to get stronger as the year goes on. And in the playoffs they both seem to turn it up a notch.I guess we will have to wait till Friday to see who turns their dial up the most!!!

It's gonna be a good one!!!

I hope Mr Lincolnton gets to go! Good friend and I can already imagine him pacing back and forth on the back row ....

Of course I want the lions to win but if the wolves do beat us I'll pull for them to win it all ....with that said GO LIONS ha
