There's another name probably not too many from around here know about. I know of him from my time living in Western Maryland, about 20 minutes from Martinsburg, WV. That name is David Walker. Martinsburg plays at the AAA level, the highest classification in West Virginia.
Until his arrival at Martinsburg in the early 2000s, the Bulldogs had had limited success. That has totally changed since his arrival. In West Virginia his name is as highly regarded as Tom Knotts at Dutch Fork and formerly Independence and Mike Palmieri at Mallard Creek.
Under his leadership, the Bulldogs have been state runner ups four times. Between 2001 and 2006 Martinsburg lost in the state title game four times. Since that time, Martinsburg has reeled off 6 state titles in 8 years. They’re currently on a 40 game winning streak and have won two straight state championships. This season, the Bulldogs are trying to become the first team in West Virginia history to win three straight state titles with an undefeated season. Since 2010, Martinsburg has gone 102-7.
