@Lincolnton This will be the closest Game of the Week I believe ! I’m really hoping your speedy Wolves beat the West Lincoln Rebels but I fear that well oiled running machine will be too much

In the Biggest Little Football Town, our young and improving BLUE DEVILS will prove who the true devils are. This will be a great game for the home crowd! Go BLUE

Funny you said that, first college game I attended was at College Field in Hickory, LR Vs. ASU. If you remember banners along the walls on the home side and end zone wall, one of them said “Go Bears, beat the H€!! Out of the Apps” ! Remember wondering if the students would get into trouble over it.

Lincolnton, my friend, as a season ticket holder at App, I’ll admit that LR might best the Mountaineers this year.

OC, my friend, it's always good to hear from you. I'd heard the Mountaineers were having a tough year but their losses were close games. I haven't been keeping up with Lenoir Rhyne but I'm thinking they're undefeated, or they were a couple of weeks ago. I'll have to ask Cheerduck, he goes to their games.
OC, this game I mentioned between App State and LR was a long time ago, maybe around 1967 or 68. LR had a receiver from one of the Greensboro schools but I can't recall which one, maybe Grimsley or Page. He was Michael Porter. I had seen him play in the shrine bowl. Just wondered if that name rang a bell.

The King and I are doing the JV game at Cushwa Thursday. Going to App on Saturday so the bride may require my presence in Ashe County Friday. We’ll see. Hopefully everyone will return unscathed, including the fans.

I wouldn't be shocked if EB loses to West Caldwell considering all the injuries they have on their team I haven't seen a team with so many kids injured. I think EB can pull it out though but and I hope they do if we let West Caldwell beat us that will be ridiculous. I really hope EB will clean house during the off season with the coaching staff. I don't understand their coach the way he coaches sucks. He doesn't play to win he only plays to stay in the game. He is a good coach that is building a foundation. But y'all go ahead and fire him and I bet y'all set your program back years. Y'all wouldn't be able to pull a better coach to EB

One of the worst opinions I have ever seen on this site. Coach Minor has done a fantastic job with what he had to work with. He has improved that program light years from what it was. I guarantee he works harder than you can imagine and you should be incredibly grateful for what you have. Don't you think he would love to throw the ball in those situations? If you don't have a QB then it is dang near impossible to throw the ball. If he did try to throw it around there would be incomplete passes and pick sixes galore. You would complain about that too. I can hear it now, "You idiot why would you throw the ball it obviously doesn't work" Here's what I suggest. Go to the Walmart. Buy a whistle, and go volunteer your time.

First, You are waaaaaay overrating the talent these coaches have to work. Are they talented, yes. Are they talented enough to run/pass/score like other teams, NO!!! A good coach, which EB coach has, will always access the talent, formulate a plan of success that best suits the talent, and work their tails off to do it. When you are average at best and you have injuries, that is a recipe for disaster no matter who the coach is. I'm never in favor of bashing coaches for the time they put into high school kids. Honestly, I don't think many know the hours of physical labor...now triple that with the mental hours put into these kids. Until you have done that for NO PAY, save your "clean the house" comments for college/professional coaches that get paid $$$$ to do so. The hours away from home (wife, kids, etc) should be respected enough to access the situation and understand ALL the coaches are doing their best to make these kids' lives better now and in the future. Go bash somewhere else, but as for the CVAC board, I don't think you will get any support. My rant...sorry....

I’m with you guys on coach Minor. I believe he was at Foard doing good things and the booster club ran him off. I think. I don’t wanna say this happened or that if I’m wrong so correct me if I’m wrong. I believe Minor would have them pass more if the protection wasn’t injured and speedy receivers was there but their hurt too and Vue is just a soph that’s improving but he ain’t were he needs to be yet but he will get there. Only one more game and no playoffs and loaded with injuries with 2 track stars whose last season to shine is up in the air, Minor is in a position that I would have to have mad respect for cause I couldn’t do it.

Biggest thing is his love for the Lord and teaching his boys how to be real winners in life and to always strive to be the best they can be and always do the right thing. In a woke world that we live in we need a light in a dark place like Minor. The wins will come. Remember Joshua was in prison for years and years before becoming pretty much the prince of Egypt.

What a joke you have no clue what you are taking about they pass 11 times in the west Lincoln game injuries is out of the coaches' hand. This program had won 4 games in three years before Coach Minor got there, They passed passed passed before he starting all the run offense not a great program to take over they are not blessed with the talent other teams have but they have been in every game except West Lincoln They have scored enough to win just defense has let them down. But you can help them coach if you want to!!

This is the same coach that put up 50 to 60 points on EB for two years when he was at Foard with the same offense but had a QB that could throw the ball! This is yet to be found at EB but you know every thing this is a tough program to turn around from what I have seen!!They would be a lot worst if coach left the kids are the strongest they have been weight wise!! But you have your option even if it is not the right one!!

East Burke wins a tough one over West Caldwell.

Maiden wins another thriller. Newton Conover needs this win desperately….so I think this will be a great game.

West Lincoln wins with ball control. They’re sooo hard to stop. If Lincolnton can just hang around early…watch out! This will be a great game that goes to the wire.

These are some classic CVAC games to end the regular season….and I think they’ll all be close games. We’ll see.

Somebody just might surprise us!😉

If you add the hours up Coach is making 2.00and hour for all the days and nights they work trying to get 15 16 year old kid to do their job. Go do that and then come back and talk!!

I agree I like his love for GOD and teaching the kids about that kind of life. But coaching wise he will never turn the program around. I don't think any coach can to be honest. EB football isn't like it used to be and I know adding Draughn hurt them. But still

EB has not had winning program in anything except Girls BB so this is a hard place to win at in any men’s sport I really don’t know why anybody would want this football job, but Coach Minor took it on and we will see if he can get it turned around. This was going to be the best year they had but how can you predict injuries so feel like they have some kids still coming up in the program so we will see what happens next year. In the other conference they was in when he first got there they would probably be in second place, but this conference is loaded.

EB by 2 scores. West is ready to start dribbling and shoot from last to first. EB is at bottom of both unfortunately….and then there’s track season. We will end on a good note this school year in a sport that the football players are a part of. Last year of greatness in that since we losing Fraley and Byrd.

Is KJ Byrd a senior already? I thought he had another year. Anyway, that young man may represent his country in the Olympics as a decathlete one day soon and I'm curious if he has a college scholarship somewhere. For the uninitiated he is two time 2A state champion in the pole vault, but also finished near the top in both the high jump and hurdles last year. I think I read that he won a decathlon championship for his age group in a national meet (this is not something the NCHSAA sanctions at the state level).

You must have 0 clue about Coach Minor and how he operates- He is one of the best rebuilding coaches in the NC. He rebuilt Princeton n Foard and has made EB a respectable program with growth on n off the field!

Minors holds everyone accountable and also EB has had a lot injuries and other bad luck happen! Also Guess what - He runs a Triple Option type offense of course he going to Run run run that’s what that type of offense does! If u don’t like it then go else where

Yup, Senior and prob the top overall Track athlete to walk the halls of EB. He’s a Swiss Army knife out there and can do bout an any event outside of pole vault pretty well. Great RB/WR when healthy. He showed Maiden a trick or 2 last year in a losing effort. His best is Pole Vault obviously but can build up and do other things and will make a college a GREAT Decathlon athlete. No idea we’re he plans on going but my best guess is an ACC school.

He’s a guy like I said before in these forums, you can’t replace a guy like that. Football wise kinda but track, Never. Another Top 5 of all time track athlete at EB would have to go to Avery Fraley. Prayers for his recovery as well as KJs.
