Yeah I believe both are away which sucks but hickory is close by and I guess will get to see the turf Catawba County schools let them borrow money for. Not sure about going to Central Davidson yet.

Wrestling coach and AD I have heard are 2 guys u had worry about. I seen mixed review about Foard Athletics but I seen most say it’s a very good school n all so
I have had several kids through the Foard athletic programs. Football wasn't bad because of the wrestling coach. One of my kids were in both programs. Never once did he limit what my kid could do in other sports. He always encouraged them to do what they want to do. He resigned to watch his son wrestle in college. Motivated kids gravitated to him because his kids outworked everyone, he loved them, and made things fun even though he was very technical and tough on them. I can't speak high enough what he did with my kid and the rest of the team, and still continues to do for them even after graduation. On top winning 9 state titles in 15 years, he just won the NCHSAA Male Coach of the Year in our state, and that includes every sport.

As far as FTF football, they aren't the hardest of workers and they lack speed and size. When you get outran to the edge, and you are getting beat by 50 plus every game, you get discouraged quickly. My kid played football, but it was a miserable experience. Kids were berated by SOME of the coaches. Most of the kids on the team didn't care, they mostly just wanted to act as if they were someone by wearing a jersey on game day, which isn't a good thing. There is definitely a different culture between the 2 programs.

As far as Minor, they were bad when he was there too. They had 1 "good" year, which, was an anomaly, in which they finished 3rd int he conference, and won a playoff game. We had a great year for Foard, but we had a lot of "football" athletes compared to most years. We had big kids who could run real well.

My kids now have friends on the FTF football team. It's a lot of the same. Not real tough kids who are small, and can't run. I unfortunately imagine that they will continue to be one of the worst football programs in NC regardless of classification. Maybe they can schedule some wins in the future! Coaches sometimes put blame on their lack of success on other coaches to take the heat off of them. Foard is good to great in volleyball and good in softball in the gir's sports. FTF is good in baseball, and great in wrestling. I don't know if they will stay great with Coach Carey leaving, but I hope so. Unfortunately, football and basketball just haven't been competitive with the exception of a few years.

I can agree with a lot of your statement. I really do believe minor was the solution to your football woes. West Lincoln is the blueprint for Fred t Foard to start turning their program around basically same kind of demographics of kids. Of course I wasn't pretty to first hand knowledge or witness any undertakings, but minor and the wrestling coach seem to not be able to work together.

My kid, who played for Minor, didn't like Minor because he was so controlling, would make negative comments at the other coaches in the school, etc. I believe he was let go, not because of his football, but because he didn't work well with others (some coaches, administrators, players, and parents). That said, he had a good message, just the wrong delivery imo.

When you got football players, you win. When you don't have football players, you don't win. Play calling matters, but I can take an average parent and put them at a football powerhouse and they still win. Maybe not state championships, but they still win.
If I put Bill Belichick at Foard, they will still lose even though the technique and play calling would be elite. Coach Ramseur is the guy at Foard for now, and he has his work cut out for him.

Hopefully, they can schedule West Caldwell, Patton, Bunker Hill (in 2 years), and some others.
Honestly if they want a confidence booster they should do like Bunker Hill did this year and schedule the hickory Hawks homeschool team. 🤣🤣

@live4now Thank you for your first hand accounts. but the way I looked at is - U cant believe what anyone says now days in parents, fans, athletes or coaches bc everyone will have a different story n a different version so the way I look at things NOW days is - there 3 sides - Your side, their side , the truth so IDK what all happened and how and why this or that went down so but I thank you for your feedback.

I will say Foard as a whole last yr minus a few sports were down, Girls baksetball was down, football , mens basketball , and I agree with u that FTF Girl sports are usually good and better their men sports
I also agree with @amaidendevil as Other school have formulas to win and have similar talent as to FTF. I think if ANY coach could maintain a 3-5 win season every yr that would be a Success for FTF

Not sure Foard is better than Hickory Hawks. They were at that 7v7 with Lincolnton Sat. Looked like they have some athletes.

Coach minor left on his own he just was ready to get out of that system! They did not want football! He just wanted the player to do their best!!He left with more wins in three years than the last several coaches they had!!after he left that have not won hardly any games since!! Minor teams finished 2nd and 3 rd in the conference 3/8 9/4 and 6/6 not a bad record for three years. To add he had some coaches follow him to East Burke coach Beaver left to go back to his home school!!Take it from a father of a kid who transferred to follow Coach Minor at EB football. That 6 and 6 season they put up 64 on Bunker hill 63 on EB 41 on west lincoln and 41 on west Iredell let see those numbers from Foard again!!

Well I just heard Bunker hills quarterback had to have knee surgery. I'm not the doctor said don't know his true every time maybe mid-season. As much as I don't like bunker Hill.. I feel really bad for this kid. I hate to see anything happen to a kid at all. I want to wish him a full recovery 🙏

They finish 2nd In the conference that last year 6and 6 and 5 and 1 in the conf 18 and 18 minor’s 3 years at Foard back to back playoff so don’t act like he did not turn around a losing football program!!go check the record without himLOL He has moved on so keep the losing going!!
