MC, it's hard to believe Farmer Tom's, a little produce shack, has so many loyal customers. It's been there a long time. Many of them go there for homegrown tomatoes.
When my Mother was living she would send me after tomatoes and when I brought them back she would raise sand because they weren't "HOMEGROWN". To this day I do not know what a homegrown tomato is. I would tell her they came from the grocery store but she didn't want them from there. She said "You get them (the infernal homegrown tomatoes) at Farmer Tom's, down at the river". If anybody knows what that means please share. Sounds like something grown on North Poplar Street beside of a garage.
Postscript, MC I just called my cousin whose older than me. She answered the phone with "WHAT"! I forgot that she goes to bed at 10 o'clock. I said "Uh, do you know what a half-runner is", and she blurted out "It's a damned green bean" then hung up.
Seems like I always get into trouble over produce.
