Catawba Valley 2A Early Outlook

Here's the thing 7 on 7's are fun... But really are not a true indicator of your football team. In my opinion what they do help show is your team's athleticism and how they compete against other athleticism. Seven on sevens will never really be for teams like West Lincoln or North Lincoln. Without pads and hitting it's just workouts. Some of the greatest athletes will show out until the pads are hitting them 🤷🏼‍♂️
so true if you are not a passing team this don't show much at all!!Putting the pads on will show all.

They do have a lineman that I would find interesting on the right team. Unfortunately one good lineman on a team of bad players will have a hard time shining or getting noticed
Maybe not, few years ago a West Caldwell OLineman played in the Shrine bowl and I think his team MiGHT have won ONE game. He prob had heart, stayed with his friends and refused the Hibriten band wagon

Hear Maiden has another 7 on 7 with the state champ Mustangs next week. Let me guess…they have a left handed QB…prolly named Surratt.😂

That ought to be good.

Hear we’re scrimmaging Hickory again. It’ll be good to see Duck and his boys. 😉

Also hear we have a new one….scrimmaging Central Davidson. Who knew?

They were pretty good last year…gave Ledford, Oak Grove and North Davidson all they wanted…Smoky Mountain too!
I saw their 2000 yard back graduated…Breedlove…he must have been sump’em. Betting they have another one coming up.

Hoping Maiden plays them tough….Central Davidson needs a good test before their opener over at Monroe.

We’ll see….Can’t wait!😉

Damn pesky work schedule is getting in the way of getting to see the 7 on 7 against East Lincoln

Has anybody checked to see what nursing home they put @Lincolnton into ?? He has been awol almost all summer and they must monitor his internet usage 😂😂😂
AMD, I'm good . Sometimes I just get out of the routine of posting during the off-season... I'm happy to say I've avoided the nursing home, so far. My jogging route takes me by one and I think about ending up there, and eating jello, and playing bingo and being called buddy by the staff. But right now, though, I'm FREE and WELL (Thanks Lord). Hope you and my Blue Devil friends are good too. Thanks for checking on me.:)

Probably gone undercover to catch EL watering down their new turf field.
OC, I have to confess that they do it right. Of course, they had to wet the grass like anyone else.

OC, my friend, let us be careful, here. We mustn't air the 2012 deluge. Just by rare chance it could be noticed by someone on Governors Island and sour this evening's saffron butter chicken with dates and couscous stuffing, washed down with a magnum of Domaine Leflaive Montrachet. WHAHAHAHAT THU

I haven’t followed along that closely with this thread but how will Bandys look for the upcoming season.
I think Bandys will be good. They’ve got some good pieces back…QB, couple of RB’s and their leading tackler just to name a few. Their JV team was very good as well.
One of those JV players in particular was a WR that was a head taller than anybody on the field. I think he was 6’7” or 6’8”….he wore Maidens JV out last year.
I’d be shocked if he isn’t starting this fall.

We’ll see. 😉

I agree, Bandys will be better. The young man your referring to caught the go ahead TD vs N-C and won the conference last year

Oct 6 Bandys will be at Maiden. That’s the very week I will be out of town going to outerbanks. Already have plans for the trip. If it wasn’t for that I would definitely take this game in.

So I’m guessing some Bandys hype is on and figure them to win conference? I mean hey, I like suspense and sudden change and I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised. I’m carrying a strong belief in EB this season and am expecting huge things and a playoff spot, maybe not a run but making it. But trying to not get the hopes up and be too biased with them. Also been hearing sole good some bad bout this upcoming freshman at EB that has possibly the tools to play varsity at QB. Could do JV a year to groom up. Very fast and can get faster with work. Wouldn’t mind hearing more bout this young man

Betting you could find a good game to watch over there if you wanted to.

Fishing and football…it can’t get any better!😂

Still a bit young for varsity but hearing he listen and does well!! great family support he has a brother that is a jr and a bother in 7th grade that is going to be a stud!! He will have three years at varsity for sure!!

Personally I see Bandys in a battle for 4th n 3rd place. They looked OK during the 7 on 7 I still give BH a edge bc they looked good so far

I think BH, EB,and few other fighting for 1st place but will see what happens.

Sounds like the league should be pretty competitive....

How will West Lincoln and Newton Conover be? Anyone hearing anything about those schools??
West will still be in the mix but losing a work horse like they had hard to replace so n also like o said back when they played MP a few yr back in playoffs if they get a QB who make those med rout passes - WL could be dangerous.

I think they be above avg to avg this yr imo

Newton has talent but Coaching always been the issue imo

Newton hasn't had consistent coaching since Bazzle left. He took them to 3 state championship games I believe winning 1.

Beamer wasn't bad.. maiden just had his number. That and he was always looking for the next best thing, he almost left before coaching his first game at N.C.

I bet, when you went by LHS you thunk, "veni, vidi, vici". You wretched little daemonium, thinking something like that about our Wolves.
I rode over to Tom’s produce and picked up a mess of half runners for my mother this evening. Yep…swung by Lincolnton’s field as well.

Very nice. 😉

A buddy told me that the home school with turf has to provide shoes for the visiting teams which I didn’t know.

Wondering if I could get a pair…size 14 wide…I’d make them black and yeller shoes look good on a golf course!😂

Wow, HAHA this thread started with CVAC predictions. So here goes…

1st & 2nd, - BH and Maiden. The conference may be won on Friday the 13th near Claremont

3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th - EB, Lincolnton, Bandys and WL in no particular order
The conference openers….

Bandys - West Lincoln
Bunker Hill - Lincolnton
Maiden - East Burke
Newton - West Caldwell

HUGE!!!

MC, it's hard to believe Farmer Tom's, a little produce shack, has so many loyal customers. It's been there a long time. Many of them go there for homegrown tomatoes.

When my Mother was living she would send me after tomatoes and when I brought them back she would raise sand because they weren't "HOMEGROWN". To this day I do not know what a homegrown tomato is. I would tell her they came from the grocery store but she didn't want them from there. She said "You get them (the infernal homegrown tomatoes) at Farmer Tom's, down at the river". If anybody knows what that means please share. Sounds like something grown on North Poplar Street beside of a garage.

Postscript, MC I just called my cousin whose older than me. She answered the phone with "WHAT"! I forgot that she goes to bed at 10 o'clock. I said "Uh, do you know what a half-runner is", and she blurted out "It's a damned green bean" then hung up.

Seems like I always get into trouble over produce. :)
