Catawba Valley 2A Early Outlook

That field is little boring but It really helps enhance their facilities and It will help WL community and Youth sports as well

I have to disagree, that red and grey really pops!

Happened to be in the neighborhood yesterday and stopped by the stadium to see how ours was coming along. Looks like not only are there soccer lines but lacrosse lines as well. Interesting.

The only school in Lincoln County with a lacrosse team is North Lincoln I believe. I do not see any soccer or lacrosse lines on the field in Vale, but they are there for ours. Not sure we have the clientele to support a lacrosse team.

Schools have Lacrosse and Soccer n Football will usually have those lines

That's an @Burkeforreal thing lol. He's a track guy 😂
The Hill took conference. Too much depth at speed and distance. Long jump killed us too. So combine said, Bunker Hill Carrie’s majority of athletes when they take the field next year and can be dangerous if coached right.

Fastest man in conference- Sifford: Newton Conover

Best overall - Fraley: East Burke. He took Sifford in the 200M but by a hair.

KJ Byrd: tied with Fraley in accomplishments for the day. These 2 are special. Looking forward to how they translate their greatness in pads.

Regionals coming up. Owen is the favorite to take crown. Will need Bunker Hill to drown out their points to help give EB an edge.

Surprisingly Jason Willis was lagging a little behind in the hundred. A couple football players ahead of him in speed there

Word on the street...the school had no option on lacrosse lines. We don't have plans for a team, and didn't want them...but...the powers that be must know best, right?

French's commercial circa 1970
Creek speaking in the West Lincoln tongue tells Rebel lady "Hey, hand me that d@mn mustard here"!

Red and gray looks good on nothing that I know of...

Maybe we can make enough off hosting lacrosse games that we can buy an electric down marker, or a field house.

Remember the "businessman" who ran an establishment up towards town and not too far from where you live, now. This was many years ago ? I honestly believe that somehow, some way, he could have gotten us a not only an electric sign but a fieldhouse, too (intact). the only problem is that that the next day some school would be reporting their fieldhouse as missing then the police would come to take it back. They'd be saying, "How in the WORLD did someone move an entire fieldhouse".
I just don't think there are any entrepreneurs like that around here anymore.

Ha! Now, it seems, they've gotten smart and embraced politics! No easier way to pad the nest of your faves at the expense of the others!

Exhibit A: That ghastly, growing entity nestled between the fork of 27 and 182

My last rant on CVAC and combine track n field. Yesterday we had regionals at EB. EB overtook those Bunker Hill boys cause points and other schools factoring in performances and drowned out BH in points but man…..I gotta tell ya. Owen!!!! Owen HS, a program that won ONE game last year……has a DEADLY arsenal of speed, big time speed, RBs and WRs. I’m sssuming those guys play football that was out dogging guys in the sprint events. Sifford won the 100 BTW but Fraley got him in thr 200 by a nose in a 2nd place finish with an Owen guy taking 1st.

Do these guys got mad skill set positions with no Oline? Are they poorly coached? The speedy guys just concentrate on track and not even play football?? LOL. What’s the deal with Owen y’all?

Heart goes out to Lincolnton for a false start in the 4*100. Was DQed. But also EB dropped the baton and didn’t even finish the race. Congrats to Owen for regional champs and your one win football with all that speed and didn’t even coke to Maiden to look at the houses LOL. I’m sure the Blue Devils could use those athletes and coach em right :)

The preceding ⬆️ is an excerpt from a post by resident Cavalier, Burkeforreal

We get disqualified while the rest of the world only incurs a five yard penalty for a false start.
I wonder if the officials were from uh, certain schoooools, if you get my drift. I'll stop short of saying who these far away places with strange sounding names are, but I can tell you they rhyme with Least Lincoln, Fourth Lincoln, quest Lincoln and Dandys

Lol only 2 people went to hospital but only 1 was a driver.
Oh, well then, only two going to the hospital. No problem. I know Catawba Valley is just up the road from there, and Frye Regional is uptown and not far away; but Surely, some of the staff there must have, at some time or another, whispered to other staff, “Do they really try to crash into each other”. Just finished compiling Maiden's football history from 1960 to present:

I don't know when our first season was...but I know of one game in 1956 at least, and know that Bill Barefoot coached in 1956, 57, 58, 59, 60 and 63, 64, 65 - but I only have complete records from 1960 and on...

556-188-9 (74.4%) overall school record since 1960 (63 seasons)

1. Allen LaTorre - 17-2-1 (87.5%) in 2 seasons
2. Bill Barefoot - 34-8-1 (80.2%) in 4 seasons (missing data prior to 1960)
3. Will Byrne - 67-17-0 (79.8%) in 7 seasons (Current Head Coach)
4. Tom Brown - 328-99-6 (76.4%) in 35 seasons
5. Frank Snider - 33-17-0 (66.0%) in 4 seasons
6. Kermit Whisnant - 47-25-1 (65.1%) in 7 seasons
7. Brian Brown - 30-20-0 (60.0%) in 4 seasons

This next season will make Coach Byrne the 2nd longest tenured coach in Maiden's history.

Now, that's impressive. Also, thanks for giving me something to count besides the mortar joints in my basement.:)

Our maiden researcher is better than y'all's 😂😂

@Lincolnton is so old he was probably around for the founding and naming of town and school 🤣🤣
AMD, I'm old enough to have known two individuals whose fathers, not their grandfathers, but their daddy's, who were veterans of the american civil war.
My Mother knew a lady who told her stories about when Lincolnton was under military occupation and troops coming into their house. If my Mother was living she would be 110. :D

GDevil, why are you buffeting us kindly Lincolnton sorts ? Ours ain't too bad... Let us be good neighbors, or I'll call you out on one of your Stats. ;)
Numbers 22:28 KJV
If I'm wrong, please correct me. I fear staying wrong more than being wrong temporarily. I know my stats for Tom Brown are 2 wins less and two losses more than Chris Hobbs' records...but I would have to have access to his files to see where.

I also know I don't have any data for pre 1960...thus missing data for Bill Barefoot, and our first head coach Mr. McGraw.

Your Stats are fine, my friend. I've got no doubt you could leave me in the dust when it comes to numbers. We're similar, though, in that both of us are meticulous, and we always try to be correct. I'm a pretty good judge of character and it's easy to tell that your abilities come from hard work, a focused and disciplined mind and natural ability. Any skills I might have developed comes from years of failure.
Oh, something else, That's a great policy about temporarily wrong versus staying wrong, I'll remember that, but even so, I'd be slow to scrutinize your numbers, too much, for fear of starting something I couldn't finish. :)

I'd rather stand corrected than lie mistaken
