Catawba Valley 2A Early Outlook

I've lots of thought on the Charter School, none of them are edifying. As such, I'll try and keep them to myself, lol. Apparently, the old adage about " you can't hide money", applies. I'd feel better if it weren't money ripped from Public schools.

Combine, at least, is a privately funded private school!

On another note, the turf project should be beneficial for several programs. We are hoping that our campus might actually finally get a softball facility. We are the only school in the County without one.

Our track program has been neglected for years and needs a total revamp. It could be a great asset to football and other sports under the right direction. Historically, extremely low priority. Hoping that may change. Not extremely optimistic.

Turf as a recruitment tool? If we have just that one thing over our Northern Neighbors, it will be worth the investment!
Only reason we don't have turf is because Catawba County wouldn't let us have it even with us paying our own money for it.. no taxpayer dollars !!!!! And screw bazzle because he was the biggest crybaby over it

Careful there, AMD. I know of at least once you got lawed for running afoul of message board rules, and I got lanes for being an accessory after the fact. If we get lawed again we’ll be something called a recidivist.

How about Bandys they came back n done well 7-5 and (6-2) and Won 5 straight in Baseball

I like what N-C Conover has in football from some of folk I talk to and see on here but coaching is key there at N-C

If I could really say what I wanted to say about bazzle I'd probably get kicked off the forums 😂😂
I like coach Bazzle just my opinion I mean he done well at NL where most don’t

He also wouldn't let his kids play their playoff game last year. And for seniors that could of been last game of football they ever had a chance to play. Let's see if that affects their turnout this year or if players jump ship over it. And look for some Newton kids to maybe jump ship also.

Bazzle is triple
Given every yr at AC they always have a ton of injuries
Bazzle is triple Option only.. he can only win and be successful when he has the right players in place. He can not adapt to the players he has or make changes.

A softball field on campus would be nice. Will they build a new locker room/concession stand between that and the baseball field? Seems like our softball program is making major strides from years past.

I have always been of the opinion that your head football coach also needs to have a hand in the track program. If done correctly it could be a great benefit for football and other sports as well.

I'm interested to see how the turf looks and the design of it! I assume LCS will require all turf to be the same, but a black endzone with gold lettering like App State would like very nice. With the improvements to the football field and soccer now moving down to Memorial Stadium I would like to see an upgrade to the field house. Talk about setting yourself apart from our neighbors, an improvement to the field house/practice facility would do that.

Heartily agree with the Football/ Track synergy. It works at the college level, and at many other HS programs ...We are far from synergy, lol

Turfs will all be custom.
I don't foresee a new concession facility, but it would be nice. IF we actually get the field.

We've gotten behind on a lot of infrastructure, including the Field House. We were ahead for a long time, but not now. Lots of work to do!

I am not sure on the total cost of a new field house, but I am sure our boosters could raise the money for it. Shelby's new house looks purdy nice..

I would argue that Coach Bazzle has a system that he knows and understands well enough to adapt as needed. I think he does that as well as anyone around. To be fair, if you take the “right” players away from any system there will be a drop, but look at the scores. When his teams have what some of you consider less talented teams they’re hanging in there; not getting drilled 42-0. You can’t look at your teams and say “Well Jimbob was out and we had this going on” and then see other teams as nameless and faceless. In five seasons at North, they’ve not had a losing record. They have a conference championship and a second place finish in a 2A league and a 3A league. Maybe I just read the words in a different context.

2 of those seasons he went 4-3 and 5-5 not great by any means especially in a cupcake conference they play in. East Lincoln and Statesville is only good team in it. And good coaches do look at their personnel and change up the offenses or style of play to what they have on the team. Only credit I will ever give bazzle is he runs a great weight training program. Ive had friends play on his Newton teams and as defensive lineman he would tell them to fall in a hole to clog it up and let his linebackers come in to clean play up. That's a horrible philosophy on defense.

I will agree that this conference is very top heavy when it comes to football but all the others sports its a very competitive conference - I think regardless if he only 4-3 or 5-5 if they finish 2nd or 3rd then its still a good season n u cant pick who u play I mean NL back in NPC 3a/4a with mooresville n ln had no business being there but they couldnt pick who they played and im sure those so zme worst yr for NL in Football and other sports but maybe a few like Baseball but I think NL is just glad to having winning records bc NL is tough school to win at because no every coach will be able to win at NL

Why is it a "tough school to win at?"

They draw players from half the county, and they have the newest and best of everything. Please explain

It’s Primarily there demographic imo I mean we all know it’s mainly for richy White folks and Look Football overall records - They have had 10 Losing records / 2 .500 (Overall) seasons / 8 winning season and 4-5 last winnings under Bazzled have been winning seasons so it’s Matt Beam and Bazzled there most successful coaches

NL basketball (Boys) - Have had 13 losing seasons/ 5 winning season but mostly 4 under Frye who seems to be the “right” guy for NL! - Girls - 9 losing season (Been down last few yr) / 7 winning seasons - There best coach is gone

Baseball/Softball has been the strongest; 7 losing seasons / 7 winning season (all mostly recent and a state championship in 2019) currently right now they are down this yr with a 6-6 overall record (4-3) ——— Softball: About 3 Losing seasons/ 8 winning seasons they currently are 6-7 (5-2)

My point is NL they gotta have right system n coaches in place to win as it’s been shown in football they only had 2 successful people win there which includes their current HC and Also Basketball has shown Esp on girls side talent isn’t strong n the best coach isn’t there while boys has gotten better n gotten right coach there

NL is a tough place to win period! If NL ever become 3A again I think it would hurt them like it did from 2013-2015 imo and Also if a new school is built then does it take anything from NL.

Now this is my kinda talk. It’s a CVAC tread and North Lincoln and Bazzel get in the mix. I dig it, I like NL. Some of the people of the past not so much but I like em as a whole. Is North about to drop to 2A again? Cause they are already 3A right now. If we go to the 6A system they will be 4A which won’t be bad and they won’t have to face the big city schools that run the tables a lot of years like Mallard Creek or Dudley or Wake Forest or some school out that direction with dense populated areas. Good insight on North.

Since we on them and off CVAC alittle bit ha ha how will North be this coming fall?? So far from what I gather they will be graduating ALOT of good players this year espacially anyone with speed BUT their JV team did win all but 1 or 2 games. Not that that stacks up to much to the next season

My bad LOL What I meant to say If they are in a 3A conference with 4A team or team who are known for being good like shelby or burns or something like that and if they did go up 4A they may still face teams like East Lincoln and South Point etc so thats still a tough 4a level but your correct most of the power 4a team would be like 7a,6a

Just saw a new bill introduced...... SB 636 would also address classifications and realignment for the NCHSAA. According to the bill, the NCHSAA would be limited to four classifications based only on the average daily membership of the schools. It would assign all charter and private schools into the next highest classification than the one the school would be assigned to based on its enrollment.

This will kill NC sports imo and It will Hurt many programs

(5) Administrative rules. – These rules shall govern classifications of schools into divisions and conferences, administration of games, and requirements for coaching, officiating, sportsmanship, and scheduling of seasons. The State Board may by rule delegate the authority to establish all or a portion of the administrative rules to an administering organization. At a minimum, administrative rules shall require the following:

a. Classification of all participating schools in the State into one of four athletic divisions based solely on average daily membership. For charter or nonpublic schools, the rules shall classify those schools into the next largest conference than the school would be assigned to based solely on average daily membership.

b. Classification of all participating schools in the State into conferences based solely on geography, division classification, and average daily membership.

The big thing i see is "The State Board may by rule delegate the authority to establish all or a portion of the administrative rules to an administering organization." This tells me the state can grant the NCHSAA permission to adjust classifications and conferences.

At a minimum there can be 4 classes. I assume the state will let the NCHSAA move forward with more classes as long as we get the votes.
