I too was extremely surprised by the Trinity game. But as I have said many times, you never know with teenagers. Also as I mentioned above, the entire PAC7 conference is located entirely in Randolph County. Therefore every game is a rivalry one. Makes for great games and occasionally an upset or two. God knows I would never defend Roundabout High but their body of work and schedule, had them sitting at #2 in West 2A before they stubbed toe against Trinity. They dropped to 4 after that. Not sure today. Haven’t looked.
Eastern teenagers should do ok in 1A playoffs.
And if they don’t?
Well the sun will come up tomorrow…

I think any team has the potential to be beaten on any given day. Each team has their particular edges and cause for motivation.

Do I think MA has the best product on the field right now? NO. Watching highlight reals and film posted here, when 44 goes in the game on offense, linebackers are pancaked and on their rears. The aren't allowed to rip thru blocks and make tackles. I'd do agree other posts that offensive weapons are not being utilized.

This is my opinion and may be wrong but things are what they are. Folks say this team is a very heavy junior class. This team has a heckuva senior group that was the scout defense and offense for those past 2 years champ teams. I think things are falling as they are trying to solidify the core group for next season. If this continues, I do agree with your statement buzz. Names and stats have to be ignored to put the best product on the field to have a chance to 3 peat. I've always had the mindset, the championship game is every week from here on out. Seeds mean nothing. You have to earn it. Good luck to all in the coming weeks.

Nothing like a bunch of haters on here, you can make snide remarks and run your mouth about the bears all you want. The fact of the matter is you will get your chance in the near future to do something about it. The truth is that our conference probably has the two best teams in the west. No one even mentions Starmount and that may be the biggest threat to the bears.

You may be right. MA and Starmount may be the best in the west. I have seen both of them and ER on film. I think that all 3 are pretty even. I haven't seen MH but I suspect they are really good also. As for the snide remarks, most are in response to your posters constantly bragging about the bears.

Would you not be proud and brag on your team if they were in the bears shoes, if they had a 40 game winning streak. Our fans love what our boys have accomplished as they should they worked hard to get there. We expect people to be haters, that is what this kind of board is all about. So until someone steps up and changes it I guess you will have to hear it. We hear all the talk and guarantees from all the other teams. The truth is we will be waiting for each and every one of your teams to come to mount airy. As we told some last year that didn’t believe us, be careful what you wish for!!!!!

Quite a contradiction in what you're saying. If you expect people to be haters, then why are you whining about it when they do? You can't have it both ways.

Don’t think, for the most part, people on here make many snide remarks towards the team itself. Very few posters would say anything negative towards a set of teenagers. Also I think your whole “haters” remark makes me think it’s more of a generational thing. People that disagree with your viewpoint are not automatically “haters”, just have a different opinion. The past two seasons Mt Airy has been the winner when all was said and done. Seems like the majority of posters congratulated the team on a job well done. I know the ones from ER did. A lot of my remarks are often made with tongue planted firmly in cheek…
On another note, when do you sleep? You post late at night and EARLY in morning!

Kidd you are a very respectful poster and always have been, not directed at you at all. ER fans and most Tarboro fans respect us as we respect your teams. As far as sleeping goes, with as many health concerns I have I don’t get much sleep lol

WOW, I am really with you on health and sleep. I pray for your health and hope you find a way to get more sleep. Sleep is important for your health. Hang in there. A lot is going on in this world. I worry more for my son and his family because they are all the family I have left. Maybe next year will be better for us all ! It seems I am learning I am not the only one who gets no sleep and maybe we can learn from each other. I am now going to try some things suggested.

Ali said it ain't bragging if it is true.
And most of Mt Airy fans are constantly being critical of Mt Airy, especially when comes to not using the what we believe to be the second best offensive player on the team, going away from the 2 back set when you have the 4 running backs that could and would start in most every other 1A teams backfield, etc etc, etc.
How about stopping the BS hating, and just support your team, bring them to Mt Airy and play the game. And bring your fans. Because most of this year the visiting fans seats have been more empty than full.

And don't go down the path that we play in a weak aXX conference. Look at the rankings. May just be the highest ranking conference in 1A this year.
 
And if you come, and if you let us know you are coming early enough, we will not just invite you to join us tailgating, we will welcome you with open arms.
Kid, I am sure you will remember being invited last year, and we were disappointed you were not able to come to the Granite City.
Sure, we go back and forth on here, but make no mistake, even our worse critics would be welcomed at our tailgating. We would only ask: be nice to us as we will absolutely be nice and welcoming to you and yours.

Got it! I'll put the Bat mask back on and lurk in the shadows.....been rough going getting to high school games this season....only made it out three times due to work and family illnesses....and this is my first visit here in seven or eight weeks at that....I need a Robin to cover for me....

Just for reference REWhitley, folks may say that because of the following conference rankings that were pulled off of Simmons. While I do agree that good teams can come out of a weak conference, there is merit in the statement that the NW1A is weak when looking at the conferences in the west.

Not sure I would say NW conf was a lot stronger but 3 at the top pretty good. I would say MA strength of overall schedule pretty tough this year. MA-STM-EW-ALLGH then its bad ELK-SSTOKES and Nstokes.
Non Conf. NSurry-ESurry-SCentral and Ashe good. MA non conf record 25-13 conf opponents record 22-33

Everyone please keep thinking mount airy is in a weak conference. That conference has been in championship game like 7 out 8 years so where is all the other strong conferences. Actions speak louder than words.

The NW1A has two good teams, the rest are not good football teams in terms of talking about quality wins. The same can be said for the Foothills that you referenced. Their conference power rating is even lower than the Northwest conference. In my opinion, the entire football playoff field should be seeded based solely off of RPI. Throw conference championships out the window because so many conferences in all classifications are just not good.

Buzz funny how they say we only have 2 teams when the SMc has 1 team and that is Murphy the rest suck this year. And the mountain heritage and Mitchell (saying that lightly) are only teams in that conference. I am sure East Wilkes probably finished second in both of those conferences. And of course they got to beat there chest of all the championships they have when no one was in 1a like it will be next year. Lmao
 
Heritage is legit this year but our conference is pretty bad Mitchell is in a rebuilding year Draughn is not very good and our bottom four teams are pitiful. It was much more competitive when Hendo and Polk were in the league, I still don't believe Draughn belongs in the Western Highlands when they're not even close to being in the Mountains.

Typical, the SMC lives in your head rent free. No one said the SMC has the best teams this year. The Simmons rating has the SMC ranked higher based on overall strength . Admittedly, this is probably the "weakest" the SMC has been in many a year, as people have stated the NW is very top heavy, which in most years is a common occurrence for the SMC. Please give us your definition of what makes a team "suck". I am sure that would fit many years of bears football.

Every team in the SMC would finish third or better in the WHC Murphy and Robbinsville would be ahead of Mitchell.
