Crest had the ball and took a knee with about ten seconds left. They then took a time out so the Chase offense could take the field. When Chase came back out they had a new RB in the game. I wish I knew the young man's name, but I think his team mates call him Tink. Tink took the pitch and then sped around the right end shaking Crest defenders...about 70 yards later he crossed the goal line. Chase and Crest both charged the end zone to celebrate. Tink is a special needs student that plays for Chase and this gave him a chance to get into a game and score a TD. I have watched a lot of Charger football over the years, but this is the greatest moment I have ever seen.
Kollin Byers - LS/ OL - Crest
Aaron Ramseur - LB - Crest
Congrats to these two young men as its well deserved. Crest has several players deserving of this honor this year but unfortunately the rules only allow two players from the same team. Byers and Ramseur are great kids and role models on and off the field. I'm sure Chris Willis, Chris Jones, Tre Harbinson and a few others were considered as well. Once again congrats.....you make us proud!!!!!!!
Here they are... a little late (sorry about that) and the 1A game is pretty random (you'd think good games would get easier to find as the season progressed... but when a healthy percentage of the best teams in the class are already in your conference, the pickings get pretty slim pretty quick).
Aaanyway... this week's games. Luckily WNC has provided us with some pretty good ones.
Conference Games (all double jeopardy):
Robbinsville at Murphy
Rosman at Andrews
Swain at Hayesville
1A GotW: South Creek at Southside WNC GotW: Asheville at Reynolds (DOUBLE JEOPARDY) Open-date GotW: Pisgah at Franklin OMD's GotW: Polk County at Mountain Heritage
EB has a game with Midway on Monday but I think it's safe to start the discussion on this big game Friday night....I believe EB will handle Midway quite easily Monday evening no offense to Midway but just believe East is a much stronger team.....With that being said Friday I believe will be a potential preview of the 2A Eastern Regional Championship game depending on how things workout in the brackets....huge game from a playoff standpoint as far as seeding goes and this game will go a long way in determining the conf champ....For Clinton it all depends on the offensive line...we have to play a near perfect game and cut out these mental mistakes WAYYYY too many penalties the last two weeks especially the Hoggard game where mental mistakes killed what could have been a game winning drive late in the 4th quarter.....Against a strong EB defense false starts and holding penalties will kill us....also we need to tighten up our special teams coverage we have given up two big KO returns this season and East Bladen may have some of the most dangerous return men we will see all year in Eian and Ethan Hines....like I stated above we will need to play our best game of the year cause this is by far the best team we have played....if the offensive line holds its own plays mistake free our RBs give us a chance to win..defense will have to play lights out as well....the last 4 Clinton vs East Bladen games have been decided by less than a TD....I expect much of the same this Friday no blowout hard fought close game....great running backs on both sides...3 yards in a cloud of dust...my prediction Clinton 21 East Bladen 20.....lets hear it
Western Alamance fought through the rain and sloppy conditions to defeat the Nighthawks of Northern Guilford Monday night 36-21. Awesome offensive game from QB Tre McCollum, RB Darius 'pooh pooh' Pinnix, WR/ RB/ Return guy Jake Christman (only a sophomore) as well as all the guys to dominate the line of scrimmage. Other than a couple big plays in the 1st half, a dominant performance on D! Northern may be in for a long 2nd half of the season!
With all the injuries , when will Shelby get most of the starters back on the field ? 6-7 starters out and to be undefeated says a lot about the talent we have . Middle school and varsity undefeated and JV's with 1 loss , Go Shelby !

Well so much for my prediction of a close game...but I stand behind it last 4 meetings were decided by a touchdown or less...tonight not so much...Clinton came out fired up played by far the best game I seen them play comparable to the WRH game last year or the SWO eastern final game...Offense the O Line played its best game of the year created space got on their blocks did not commit stupid penalties pretty much the total opposite of the Hoggard game we were able to get our backs to the outside for big gains get those big D linemen of EB moving sideline to sideline and then pound it up the middle once the defense started to bite outside....Tyion Wright #5 scored 4 times I believe and really had some huge runs in the first half...Chris Williams ran one in and also connected with Jeremiah Pope on a long passing TD...Ryheem Skinner scored twice had some nice runs and a highlight 65 yard TD that I believe is trending in twitter now lol great game plan by Lewis and his staff....Defense played lights out flowed great to the ball and minimized EBs speedy back besides one huge KO return and a really nice run before half....first complete game I seen them play all year great job....now we don't need a JK like letdown this was a huge win but we got Midway next week on to the next one...GO HORSES!!!!!

This was a game I was tempted to come watch. A lot of good talk in paper bout J Mo Thompson an his grind out yardage an touchdowns so I thought this would be a good test for him an see what kinda performance he could have against nasty competition. Just wondering who went to that game an why in the world did they have a goose egg score after 2 good outings in a row. Yes given they we're weak an below avg teams but why the goose egg?
I was totally shocked considering Hunter Huss beat North Gaston last week. I figured that the Wildcats were descending to even lower levels; although how that could be, I don't know. Any way, Ashbrook has proven again they have no clue what to do with their athletes. It will be interesting to see what the Green Wave bring to Lineberger next week - Jekyll or Hyde.
Even though it doesn't seem likely is it possible? What if the only team they lose to is West Montgomery from now til playoffs... There are athletes on this team!!!
Scored a touchdown to cut it to 1 but shocker, missed the two point conversion that would have won it. I thought Epps got in but the refs didn't see it that way. Should have never come down to that. We had a couple drops late in the third quarter, and a costly pick 6. Our offense actually outscored their defense. One of the most gut-punching losses I've ever seen. We also lost our QB to a concussion in the second quarter. He took a beating trying to score from the 1. KJ came in and did well aside from two costly interceptions. But he didn't do bad at all for someone who had never played the position except in scrimmages this year. We also had a couple other injuries. We are so much better than our 3-3 record would indicate. We just cannot catch a break. Once a Bulldog, ALWAYS a Bulldog!
