East Gaston @ Ashbrook

Ashbrook is a team East Gaston typically doesn't match up well against athlete wise and I hear they are typical (good athletes). I think we might have something for them this year. We are pretty hard to defend with Robert Washington now in the mix. Being more balanced on offense, kept our defense off the field last week (and better rested). We may get a few of our injured back this week as well, we will need them. This is a big game for us.

Hayesville 3-3 at Robbinsville 5-2

This could be a good one. Knights coming off two big win in 4 days. Robbinsville will be trying to win their 13th straight SMC win dating back to the Murphy game in 2013. It looks like the SMC title will come down to Robbisnville or Swain with Rosman and Murphy having a outside shot.

Anyone know if Hayesville big fullback will be back friday. He could make the difference in the game. I believe this could be a trap game so we have better not look over the jackets. Hayesville had a open last week and should be ready for the trip to The Big Oaks.

Randleman vs Wheatmore

The Tigers dismantled the Warriors Friday night 42-0 and it was not that close. It may have been the best
performance of the year for the Tigers who came in hearing rumors that the Warriors were going to turn the
tide on the Tigers as they were ready. The JV team had just had their two year winning streak broken by the Little Warriors and the varsity were looking for scalps......I have seen the team come out for a long time at Randleman and I can sense something going on. This past Friday night was one of those nights as the Tigers had that look that they came to play , no holds barred ...........Every phase of the game was clicking on all cylinders. I know and respect coach Bear very much and I hate it for him , but he caught the Tigers at their best
night of the year..........I surely hope it carries over to this Friday as we visit the Andrews squad in Simeon stadium. If we play like Friday , look out.....if not look out...........

West Columbus at Fairmont

I had heard a lot about Fairmonts offense before going out to the game on Friday. Heard that they had the best WR in the state and had the horsepower to score quick. Been a WC fan my entire life, and I went out to the game on Friday to check out my Vikings take on the Tornadoes. This game was not close from the start. Fairmont's offense did not get on the field until after they had scored 2 touchdowns already, but they were nonetheless exciting. Before the game I thought that the qb would throw for over 300 yards and have 4 touchdowns in the air. WC hasnt been able to stop the pass all year. I was wrong. The Caulder kid only threw for 100 yards or so and Fairmont ran the ball most of the night. No kidding, tho, they could score in 4 or 5 plays. I read the Robeson County paper and they wrote that four different players scored. I heard that there was a coaching change, but that there was a guy who was on last years staff that is running the offense. I have also heard people say that hes a young guy in his mid 20s. Probably will be a special coach one day. I am sure that Coach Heil is overseeing the playcalling, though. Either way that is great that a young guy is having success at the varsity level at such a young age. He has some great talent to work with. South Columbus could be in trouble early Friday Night is they are not prepared to stop Fairmont's balanced attack. My prediction: Fairmont 42 South Columbus 21. I was going to come to the game next week, but my wife just told me that our homecoming is this week verses Red Springs. Probably will not be a pretty night for us. Just hoping that Evans returns soon so that we have a chance to sneak back into the playoffs.

Havelock(7-0) vs west craven(6-0)

This should be a good game plays at west craven house if the field is dry ima predict havelock to win 42-28 if it's another wet game it could go either way
Should be a good game wish this game was still the last game but it's ok after this game only really challenge left is swansboro havelock played without (Sharpe)now against a ok white oak team and won 38-20 so I think they played well with it raining most of the game and wind going

SMC standings after 8

1.R-Ville.... 5-2(3-0) .......27.14.......24.43.
2.Swain......4-3(2-0)........25.57.......19.43.
3.Rosman..5-2(2-1)........36.57.......12.14.
4.Murphy.....6-2(2-1)........30.50.......19.13.
5.Cherokee.3-4(0-2).......21.57........25.43.
6.Andrews..3-5(0-3)........11.75........26.50.
7.Hayesville.3-3(0-2).......20.67........26.17.

Murphy vs Andrews

Well with Andrews having 3 of their biggest lineman out seemed to be the downfall tonight. No excuses but not enough depth to overcome. Murphy also had 2 of their biggest lineman out also. Our kids never gave up and come up short on a very questionable call with one ref signaling a TD. For a in county rivalry both teams played a clean game and showed great sportsmanship to each other. Tempers flared at the end but was directed towards the officials. We will regroup and try to get healthy

(Kernersville)Glenn at (Kernersville) East Forsyth

The only two High School in Kernernsville go at it Friday.

East is obviously ranked higher, but in past years ever few years Glenn has a big upset over a big program (last one being 25-22 upset of Northwest in 2013.)

Glenn has a lot of talent on offense, not so much on defense.

Only thing for sure if your going Friday get there early. East will have there first prep rally in almost a decade, tailgating at 5;45. No doubt a sold out game, and maybe an upset In the triad. :eek:o_O

West Montgomery @ Albemarle

Too Soon??!! Finally a healthy and rested AHS win's this in tough fashion, 31-28. This one goes down to the wire and could go either way. This is a win/win for us as we have been humiliated the last two years. If we keep it close it will be an improvement. I also heard we had a really good lineman who recently enrolled from a rowan county school. This will add much needed depth to our o and d line.
