Monroe @ Shelby

It is funny you would say this, because I never come on here and just randomly post anything without having some background knowledge. I was pretty sure Monroe was O'fer against Catholic and Weddington in their last conference realignment, but because I have access to internet and little free time I went back and checked again and lo and behold I was right. So I will take the liberty of breaking this down by year

2017: The first year of the new realignment before the current one- Monroe was 5-7 with 2 conference wins against Piedmont and Parkwood who are garbage. Catholic beat them 49-6 and Weddington 34-0

2018: Monroe was 7-6 with 3 conference wins Marvin Ridge Piedmont and Parkwood again who are garbage. Catholic beat them 21-14 the first time and then 42-0 the second time in the second round of the playoffs. Weddington beat them 42-0

2019: Monroe was 6-6 with 3 conference wins Sun Valley, Cuthbertson and Piedmont (didn't manage to beat Parkwood this year) The also lost to Catholic 41-10 and Weddington 45-13

2020 Spring Season: Monroe was 7-3 and lost to Catholic 27-0 the first time and 24-14 the second time in the playoffs. Weddington beat them 45-14 as well.

So if you're keeping count in a 4 year span in their 3A conference Monroe was 0-6 against Catholic and 0-4 against Weddington. Catholic outscored them 204-44 in that span and shut them out twice. Weddington outscored them 166-27 and shut them out twice as well. I think it is safe to say Monroe was dominated by those two teams.

If they were such great games between them and they beat them sometimes (which they obviously did not) then why didn't they schedule them as non-conference opponents the last 4 years? I mean they are in the same county and it would have saved them money on bus fair.

Now in your defense From 2013-2014 Monroe played Weddington in non-conference and split with them 2-2 over that four year stretch. So since 2013 Monroe is 2-6 against Weddington and 0-6 against Catholic.

They have defeated CAtholic before as I remember making a thread about at the time. I am looking for tha video as well. You're starting at 2017, this was around 2012-2016 era. They may not have been in the same conference, BUT they most likely played Non conf. games.

Grimsley vs Hough 12/6 Rd 4

To be fair Grimsley beat southeast 49-0 the first matchup and then scored 37 unanswered after the tied it up so I think that was just a case of playing twice..I see your point though. Yeah this hough team seems like a monster, and they seem determined to beat Grimsley this time. I think the winner of this game wins the State Championship
49-7 in the first match up but playing a team twice is difficult.
I’ve seen both Hough and Grimsley and I really believe Hough is better. The only way they lose is if they make mistakes, get out coached or just fall apart like they’ve been doing in the playoffs in previous years. Going by the eye test though Hough should win this game. I think Hough’s offensive line will dominate Grimsley’s defensive line, outside of Bryce Davis.

Grimsley vs Hough 12/6 Rd 4

Dudley game would be big on gate receipts, but bad for RPI. Check out Dudley’s opponents and opponents’ opponents winning % - both are below 50%. Even a win over Dudley would be detrimental to Grimsley RPI. Home field advantage is big and one Hough fans would certainly remember from the past two years. Simmons ratings has Grimsley by one. Sounds about right and only if Hough can stop Mitchell Summers which they have so far proven unable to do.

Grimsley vs Hough 12/6 Rd 4

Played them twice. Throwing and getting them out the box would be your best opportunity. Definitely got to mix it up on the offensive side. If they figure out you can't stop the run, they will RPO you all the way down the field. O Line is really big, but not very mobile. Stunts on the DL and make them find the blocks. None of this will work if you don't have the Jimmy & Joe's.
They’re going to score some points then. I think Brandon is the key to the game. He’s been coasting all year but can go off at anytime, he hasn’t had to do much. If the G opens it up with the pass game it’s all going to fall on how he plays

Especially this year? I’m not so sure about that one. Wasn’t Grimsley just tied 21-21 with Southeast a weeks ago before pulling away? Dudley beat them 49-0.
Hough’s biggest strengths? It’s hard to choose just one. Their interior offensive line is very strong. All five starters are but the middle is where they have an advantage on Grimsley. Their speed and physicality on defense is also a strength. Very solid running game with three very good wideouts this year, I really like number 7. 7 is a do it all play maker and Evans number 8 is their big tall deep threat. I think the balance of their offense this year will get them over the hump.
Right now, I'd make Hough the favorite for the state title.

Im an east poster, who does the west think they’ll be seeing come 2 weeks ?

Barring any drastic events, loss of personel to injury, etc, the result will most likely be the same for the east no matter who shows up to greet them.

Northeastern might give them a game, if they play perfect and show up. Nobody from over there is going to line up and just run on any of these teams over here.

This ain’t 2000- 2016 though. Dudley knows they’d get the work the past few years, and especially this year. Big difference between the top of 3A and 4A. To get back on topic can anyone give insight into Hough and biggest strengths and weaknesses, I’ve got a good idea but want to hear it from people who have seen them play in person

Kinston At Whiteville

Come on JK yall get it done up there in Elizabeth City so we can have a rematch!
Don’t get it mixed up, I’m pulling for kinston first! An ECC eastern final is something we haven’t seen since Wallace and JK last met, or maybe it was SWO in the mix, either way I need it once again!

I think whiteville and Kinston will be a great matchup! I hope whiteville isn’t undermining this Kinston team just because of their recent years, if so they’ll be in for a rude awakening.

He does an outstanding job. He has to put a lot of time into this. You have to respect that. I know I do!

We eating at Texas Roadhouse again? You get ole @Chopper747 to show up I’ll buy his!
Yes sir , yourself, @oldway55 , @dogs79 . I got you guys, this is my treat, y’all just leave the tip

JK vs NE

If you watched Northeastern play this season on a weekly basis and then you went and took in a JK game you’d understand. Im just being honest. My post isn’t meant to be sarcastic, I wish more people would just express their true thoughts and not try and appease the other posters. I know quite a few DC posters up here that feel the way I do.
Ok, so basically you were measuring JK off of how Northeastern looks? Then I would have to ask, what do Northeastern looks like to you?

Kinston At Whiteville

This man hates Whiteville so bad. Still sour from us taking his beloved coach Bob Lewis years back.
😂😂 I hate whiteville for what they did to us 3 years ago in the playoffs and last year in the regular season. But 2 years ago in pre season scrimmages they threw in the white towel😏. Love what whiteville brings to football, good culture, and good school. If my tigers aren’t in the eastern final and whiteville are, ill be rooting for them.

Grimsley vs Hough 12/6 Rd 4

From 2000 to 2016, Dudley is 14-3 against Grimsley.

From 2016-2021, Grimsley hasn't wanted anything to do with Dudley.....
Of course the past 3 years, its easy to say it Dudley doesn't want smoke, but its been Grimsley who ducked out after 2016.... and just now is acting like the past 60 years never happened...
