From way back in Swain's 2A days... thanks to the Swain High School Athletics page on Facebook, here's the 16mm game film from the last game ever played (11/23/1979) at the old stadium on Schoolhouse Hill in Bryson City. A very different and much more intimate environment.

This was the 2nd round playoff game against East Lincoln. Swain went on to win their only 2A state title that year.

Enjoyed watching this ...old fashioned, butt whipping, old shool football....E.L. couldn;t do anything with Swain's running game.....Do you know what the rushing yardage for this game was??.Thanks for posting

Don't know the yardage, but I can probably dig it up.

Swain's QB in this game (#11) went on to become the head coach of the 2011 Swain state championship team. (Never noticed the synchronicity before... 11 was the coach in '11 :) )

I love it that schools have archived these games and are now posting them. Nick Bazzle, former Alexander Central and Newton-Conover head football coach, may have been a member of this East Lincoln team as a linebacker.
