Normally don’t post these threads till Friday but this one is different. Panthers battle the Bears in what is likely the last game ever at our beloved Panther Pit. Construction begins on a new school, stadium, & field in November. Below is a link for a great history show put together by the crew at FPSN…..man I miss those pines! The crowd noise would hit them and bounce right down to the field. It’s a sad day for us old timers.

Panthers drive for the TD late 3rd Q. Pisgah starting QB hasn’t played in the 2nd half.

Pisgah scores again to put this one to bed. Bears deserved to win but this was the worst the Panthers have played all year. They let last weeks last second loss beat them twice.

Yes, I agree with that. This was probably our best schemed and executed game this year. The defensive side bottled it up all night and capitalized well on miscues.

Pisgah played well but you haven’t watched Franklin much this year if you think they didn’t have a part in the loss. Clearly the worst game they’ve played all season. They looked like they were going thru the motions most of the night. Not sure if the festivities played a part but they were clearly hungover from last weeks last second loss. To each his own I guess & congrats on the win.

According to score stream smoky is whooping west pretty bad?
47-28 final. Smoky dominated the second half.

Pisgah line play on both sides of the ball was great. Thats where they won the game. That being said, Franklin had a lot of open guys down the field that their QB just couldn't connect with. Against Tuscola that could be a recipe for disaster. Also, did Aaron have a concussion? Never played in the second half and the radio guys never told us why.

Pisgah did play well, no doubt, and they usually know how to deal with Franklin, but there were a couple things that probably wouldn't happen again a second time.

One, QB and his receivers were just not connecting. Sometime the throw was long (and a Pisgah player made a SportsCenter quality interception on an overthrow) and sometimes those overthrows were from receivers hesitating on deep routes. At least one overthrow was from a pretty plain-but-subtle defensive holding over the middle, but those happen I guess.

Two, and the moment was pretty important so I won't say it was wrong, but having the entire team take a knee on the field for ten minutes at halftime while celebrated 75 years on that field probably did not help.

Play this game again and the outcome could easily be the reverse. But we only play it once, that is what happened, and the loss sealed the fate of that game being the last on the Bermuda at the Panther Pit.

Grats to Pisgah, I hope your field situation turns out well moving forward. We will see you in Franklin in a couple years or so after we get our new one.

To be fair, I feel like there are 5 teams in this conference that if we played 10 times the results may come out very close to 50/50 between us all. North and East are the exceptions.

We played better on the line and capitalized on miscues in this game better than we have all year, IMO.
