Thomasville at Mitchell

Thomasville lost a lot of community support between Coach Brown and Coach Robertson. Poor play and records, participation down. Behavior issues on and off the field. Throw in COVID, online tickets and the aging of the strong booster group and home attendance fell off significantly.
Add in a long ride and high gas prices. Frigid weather. Many of the Thomasville supporters don’t have a reliable car or money for gas for that trip.
Those aren’t excuses. That’s the dynamic we’re dealing with in Thomasville. The school system has a high poverty rate. The three or four hundred middle class diehards of a decade ago have either died or moved on to other things.
I agree that it’s unfortunate.
Most mountain schools are where Thomasville was ten years ago. The game was the only thing in town. It’s been an eye opener how quickly that can change.
That's the sad shape a lot of our country Is in, I'm afraid its only going to get worse

The mayor may be there. The county commissioners don’t give a rat’s patootie aboutThomasville. There are two school systems just within the Thomasville city limits. And at least nine public schools in the county. As for major business owners, few of them live in Thomasville.
They need to tighten up

Someone explain something for me. If a team ran sprinklers (Mitchell won’t field is always either wet or frozen this time of year) to slow down a Fast team would it not slow down the slower team as well? Thus the net gain would be 0. Never understood this.

Go Mountaineers

Doesn't apply here but the closest I've seen the field itself hurt the visitors and not the home team has been it the NFL maybe college were the visitors play on tuff and the home team is one of the few still on natural grass and the visitors at the wrong cleats and had trouble during the game switching to the right ones ,saw it in a game last week and the visitor RBs and receivers kept slipping and falling on cut backs

Hey Mountie I'm curious about something have we ever played Thomasville I honestly cant remember us every playing them, Thanks also give us one of those game day posts tomorrow bright and early with your thoughts

I’m glad y’all have faith in your team, sounds like your solely depending on cold , wet, icy field to stop #1 #12 #5 # 2 and #3. Surely you have some players that will Atleast try -

We are simply rooting for our kids and trying to support them, nobody knows who will win safe travel's Thomasville hope for a clean well officiated injury free game regardless of the outcome Go Mountaineers

Just a question, what if the Dogs show up tomorrow night and arent as bothered by the cold temps(this isnt the first time Thomasville or any team has played in the cold and it doent automatically mean that the visitors will lose)? What if they dont come out and overlook yall like they overlooked East? im sure they arent overlooking this game they know its round 3 and they also know its going to be cold. The Dogs will bring their A-game tomorrow night, i guarantee it!

They could very well and probably will walk away with a win it that happens. I will not be surprised if it does. I really think this year that most every team left is a good ball team. I fully expect this to be Mitchell's toughest competition to date this season.

DISCLAIMER: I am not saying this as a "this gives Mitchell an advantage" Just for the fans to bring a heavier coat and hand warmers.

A little update on the weather. Kick off around 35 then dropping to around 30 or so by the end. Calling for little to no wind, which is a great thing. Should be a great night for football in the high country.

Go Mountaineers

I don't believe for a second ether team is looking over the other team or as far as that goes is afraid of the other team, I believe both have practiced watched film made games plans and both feels they can beat the other. And I certainly don't think the cold weather is going to make any difference and whatever the field conditions are it's that way for both teams and I don't believe any of the Mitchell fans believes the weather is going to make much if any difference those of us watching will probably pay more attention to the cold then a bunch a young healthy teenage boys running around a football field ,it might bother the younger boys who don't play much maybe.

Whatever I played there in playoffs and the cold was horrible. Couldn't think about nothing but cold. Teeth were chattering. Cold makes a difference. Was 72 in Thomasville today.
As far a that goes it was a pretty nice day here today around 62° until the rain which is bringing the cold front in.
I will say for the visitors coming if it has like for Bakerville 35° at the beginning of the game don't be surprised if it 5°+ colder at the stadium. I don't know what it is about that stadium the shape just where happens to set other then being a little under 400ft higher then the town but for whatever reason it's almost always colder and a little windier. So bring your blankets lol
