Best bowl of oyster stew in NC. ( never had anything else there) Only one close is 42nd street oyster bar in Raleigh. They make every bowl individually when ordered.I wish The Seafood Shack would come to Mount Airy. I used to be in sales for a few years and went through Walkertown and they had some of the best seafood I have ever eat. If you are ever in Walkertown give it a try !

No I haven’t been out of power that long. Longest was 12 days during blizzard of 2000. Believe it or not, spent most of my life working 60 hours or more a week. We call it farming.

Brother there’s several threads about the devastation and rest of NC trying to be supportive any way we can. Is that enough? Probably no way it could be but it’s all we can.
Think this thread started out as our annual deer hunt, unfortunately with the twist provided by Helene, meandered into carp ponds, fish houses and turkey shoots.
I believe it was just a show of goodwill between mountain folk and a deer hunter from the Piedmont, we ain’t flatlanders, ask a few of your brethren.
Good luck with hopefully returning to some type of normalcy, if that is possible. We are thinking of you, as I said earlier in this thread.

Kidd, I drove from Mt Airy to Wilson Saturday to watch LRU spank Barton College in football.
I bet I saw 20 plus deer laid out on the side of the road.
So it came to me that I do not need to take up hunting with my guns or to buy a Bow.
I can just pick up a couple recent “departures” from the roadway!

Sad thing is, a man who never gets sick, woke up last Saturday morning coughing and running to bathroom. Fast forward a week, same scenario. Don’t feel that bad now but don’t trust eating yet. Missed a half day of work. Did catch calves Thursday so that’s good. Lost nine pounds too.
Getting everything ready for next Saturday looks like.
I have seen a few more running through front yard. Gonna bush hog ten acres behind me this week and they won’t know where to go 😂

Wanted to give you a report from 15 feet up a two man ladder sir. Today is first day of rifle season around here. So far have had six does, of various sizes, come sauntering by. Around 6:50 had the tall, narrow eight I have on camera make an appearance. He will be nice in another year but doubt he makes it. Thinking of you and yours sir. Hopefully things are improving. People tend to forget when things rotate out of the news cycle.
Opening black powder for us this morning… seen a spike ,cow horn, and a big 6 … I killed a small 8 at Latta plantation in Huntersville a few weeks ago .. I have a really big 8 at my house I’m debating on hunting some but I just love to hunt the gamelands. I walking this morning and checking around… climbed to the top of the mountain so that’s why I have service now😂. The hunt continues
Thank you sir. I have been blessed enough to say I have laid down the chainsaw this morning and found my way to a grown up field for a couple hours of muzzleloader opening day.
At this point haven’t seen a thing, however, I am still blessed just to be here. While my hunting days will be few I will cherish each one differently than in the past. Not to go down the wrong road here but continue to remember those who lost way way more than I.
