Yes, people are already moving back to the county because of this change.
If the rumor I've seen on Facebook of y'all being bumped up to 2a is true, I'd imagine you'd be in the same conference as Hertford, northeastern, etc.
Edenton is in that group also. It will only get worst for them. If you make the playoffs the gauntlet of Duplin county schools is ahead. 2A eastern football isn’t a cakewalk.
Yeah edenton tried to drop down to 1a this off season but was denied. Will be interesting to see how the new Martin county high school fares if they do end up in 2a
They have never beaten tarboro as long as I remember. So I wonder why so hot to drop down.
Edenton actually has beaten tarboro before. The last time was 2004. Tbh edenton I believe would have given tarboro a heck of a game the last two seasons.
Wow and heck yeah. If east Carolina was smart they would just recruit everything east of 40 when it starts heading from Raleigh to Wilmington. They can legitimately maybe have a top 20 team. But seriously I think this is amazing. He was really the difference in a close game and a blowout in the state championship game he saved many longer runs from Mason. He was something else. Looks like a great competitor and a great kid too.
Heard from one of the coaches that it's very likely Tarboro will only be playing nine games this regular season 😐
Maybe, something will happen during the season and Tarboro can pick someone up. I have followed Tarboro for almost 40 years since they won the 3A State Title. I have a lot of respect for the program. Regardless, of the enrollments numbers dropping because of the Prep School. Tarboro should be push to 2A. They have no buisness playing 1A football in the East.

If the rumors are true Tarboro should be going back to 2a in 2025. Hopefully Tarboro can find an opponent during the season. They have definitely tried to find an opponent. They've talked to a bunch of teams but we're turned down. So hard to find a team because most are in conference play or already locked into a game with another team.
You guys want to see if you can broker an early season game with Mount Airy. That'd be hell. I'd love to see that. Those teams are super close
I'm sure Mount airy would drop North Surry for a tarboro matchup. It's be quite the atmosphere

I am sorry to see TB possibly moving to 2a. However, Bertie might not be. They have a new coach also. I think in 2-3 years they will be a 1a powerhouse. I pick them to come in 2nd behind the Vikings in the conference this year.
Weird to see somebody possibly sad about Tarboro moving to 2a lol. I noticed Bertie went on a nice little run after the game against Tarboro last year

In 2 years we are going 7a.
As of now I think 1a will be below 450. Of course that's if football has 7a.

He really impressed at the ECU camp tarboro went to. Along with most of the other players. His field vision is incredible he gets to the football incredibly fast.
I posted after the State Championship game, that he was the best high school Safety that I've seen in a long time.
The way that game went Mason may have had 150 more yards and two or three more touchdowns if he had not been back there
If these two teams meet up again in the title game this year ( which I believe they will) your gonna see a lot of college level talent on the field. Mount airy is loaded at a variety of positions especially running back. Tarboro has their two big running backs returning along with some other very good ones coming up from JV.
I have a ? for Tarboro fans that were around in when they won the 3A State Championship. I saw a few Tarboro highlights from 1984. On facebook. I notice that Tarboro had a QB that can throw the ball. Their QB threw 2 long TD passes in the State Championship in 1984 vs Kannapolis. Tarboro has always been run heavy oriented and very seldom throw the ball. Just curious can someone tell me could that have been the best passing QB in Tarboro history? And did he play College ball. And also read the stats in the 1984 3A State vs Number 1 Kannapolis. The game played at Kannapolis. Kannapolis offense had 0 1st downs in that game. And a total of 31 yards of offense. Thats amazing.
Darrin Bryan was a great QB for tarboro. However most would say the best passing QB in Tarboro history was Chad turner. He was the starting quarterback of the 1993 Tarboro team that lost in the 3a Eastern finals. One of the older Tarboro fans in here would probably give you better examples of why he's regarded as the best passing QB in Tarboro history. I wasn't born in 93 so I can't provide you better examples.
I was looking on Calpreps preseason rankings and they have Whiteville as a 1A team. Did they drop down? They normally have pretty’s solid teams down there.
