SWAIN AT ROBBINSVILLE! SMC TITLE AND A GREAT SEED FOR THE PLAYOFFS!

I honestly have no idea on this game. Teams are very similar with the main differences being Swain being better up front and us being better throwing the ball. Typically, id go with the team stronger in the trenches. However, our ability to throw exploits their only weakness on defense. So i cant decide. Ill play capt obvious and say the team who holds on to the ball and doesnt commit dumb penalties wins.
Turnovers have plagued us lately. Swain seems to be getting better at holding on to the football. I’ll go with the home team but can’t say I’m not nervous.

Im going with my Knights 20-14. The two biggest Factors is turnovers. Robbinsville should have blown out Murphy and Hayesville if it wasnt for the terrible turnovers. Then the second and I think the most important. Can Robbinsville get there 2pt conversion. will it bite them this game or will it put pressure on swain to go for 2

That score feels right just not sure who has which number. One advantage, other the the game being at home, is our boys mau be more seasoned for this type of game. Our seniors have played in some pressure packed games. Swain will prolly handle the pressure just fine, but there is something to be said for having experience in high stakes games. Swains hunger may cancel that out though.

Turnovers are a part of the game. In the fourth quarter one was forced as you can see the kid from hayesville strips the ball. Looking at the stats Hayesville had a turnover as well.

Whoever loses will have a tough rd three rd trip.
The winner will get three gravy games at home.
At two tough games after that

Best comment about this game yet!

Stop #3 from Swain is key. Robb its pick your poison. Couple very good RBs and QB throws good ball. Swains D flocks to the ball. I pick Robb at Big Oaks. I do think its within 8 points at the end!

Robbinsville had a lot of lineman in street clothes on the sidelines last Friday..If they are not dressed this Friday that cud spell trouble for the Knights

Robbinsville seems to be struggling as of late, so I think Swain has a good shot to win. I seen this earlier this year with Mitchell. Struggling with teams they should beat easily. I know the Robbinsville faithful has some of the same concerns.

What crazy is the 3rd round game will be a rematch of this games. The number 1 seed will play the 9th seed in the 3rd round.

These group of kids has been going at it since youth and both group has won a championship in youth and most time who won the regular season game loss the championship game.

We didn't play to good the first 4 games.
Looked better the next 2 but a lot of turnovers lately.
Truthfully, the only games Robbinsville struggled in were Murphy and Hayesville..I think they probably had 4 turnovers in each of those games. Without those turnovers, those games wouldn't have been close..

Raben Gap?
It would probably be safe to assume he means close games that they won, but struggled. Losing to Rabun Gap would be better worded as outmatched. When you're having to rely on a team to not play their ballgame in order to win means you're outmatched but doesn't always mean unwinnable.

That would be the position that 99% of NC public schools would be in against them this year.

who wants to make a bet. How long do you think into the game until the reffs make a bad call and the fans are at each others throat. Very popular in the SMC lol but makes it into a great atmosphere
My money is on whoever gets the ball first will get:
2 holding penalties back to back

a 3rd and 17

long, 30+ yd run negated by a block in the back

Coaches warning for being on the field

Punt, followed by everyone on here saying the first drive of the game really set the tone/could've been the difference maker

Swain's ez, you got Rville at home, of course they'll get mad at that home cookin!

the roles would easily be reversed if it was at Swain imo

Also, Swain fans are an entitled bunch, they always think they should be winning and get vindictive with the refs when they aren't.

I’m gonna go ahead and say this. Our defensive front is way better than Swains offensive front. There offensive line is average at best

I do think Swain's oline is not as good as their d line. Easier tp find three d linemen than 5 o linemen. However we kinda have the same dilemma and i think oline to oline and dline to dline they are a little better. If we were 100 percent healthy it may be different but we are not so it doesnt matter. Sure they have had injuries as well. I give us the slight adv everywhere else. Seeing what Swain did to murphy cant be ignored. A litany of excuses can be made, but the truth is that its a rare day indeed to see a murphy team get handled like that in a conference game. We have had legitimacy, that gave swain theirs in my book.

They certainly have not been up to the high standard many hold them to.

As far as the line goes, we will see.

I don't believe Swain's O line to be world beaters but they have been getting pretty decent at blocking for that veer/T look, and as we know, the veer/T is helpful in allowing teams with lines that some may consider "less than" be very successful.

Plus it's nice to know we have the Conference's leading rusher behind such an average line. Golly this is gonna be a good one, ain't that right BK!

Good to know we have the soon to be SMC all time leading rusher running behind our line. Hopefully no injuries to either Adams or Collins since we are speaking of them at such a high level in these posts. I’m looking forward to this game. It has that “feel” to it.

Mmm, yes, the feel.

Haven't felt a conference game quiet this nice in a long time, a literal fight for control of ones destiny/conference bragging rights, at the end of the season to boot!

I'm a Swain fan. I don't think we handled Murphy as bad as the score looked. The score going into the 4th qrt was 14-7 Swain..Then Murphy quit tackling and started trying to strip the ball..I think Swain scoresd 23 points in the last 4 minutes of the game. What worries me the most is Robbinsville scored at will on Murphy and really shud have scored 2 or 3 more times..If Robbinsville doesn't fumble the ball away it cud be tough on the Devils

this x100

Murphy got caught sleeping on the 1st long TD run up the gut (excellent playcall/execution by Swain) which was when the game truly felt in favor of the Devils.

By the second one Murphy had already gave up.

It was a long, hard fought game that Swain eventually sewed up but it was not by any means a beatdown.

Is this how Swain has to win? Maybe, just keep battering people till the dam breaks, the only problem is if they have multiple TO's they are toast against the real good teams.

I think its crazy to me how loser drops down to a 9 seed and will have a chance to meet again in the 3rd round. I wish they would switch 1st and 2nd on different sides of the bracket. you can have a 8-2 Robbinsville team or a 9-1 swain team as a 9 seed.

I definitely wish it wouldn't be SMC mirror matches in the 3rd round nearly every year

I agree that conference teams shouldn’t meet in third round but part of the problem I think in 1A is lack of quality teams in first round especially. Also in the case of an all 1A conference like SMC you are going to have multiple teams and they probably will end up playing each other. The PAC7 will have probably 3 possibly 4 in 2A and projections have a couple of them meeting fairly early on.
