Starmount

I’m still planning on going to the Starmount n Mt Airy game. If nothing comes up important
If you have time, join us Mt Airy Tailgaters. I will let you know where we will meet for our "away pre-game meal". Some where in Elkin/Jonesville.

Oh and by the way, last count of the Mt Airy portal transfers is somewhere close to 30. Some area high schoolers but most are reclassified Junior College Players. If you want more information just ask "MrKnowNothingButMakeItUpMAN".
All are 4.2 speed guys lifting at least 500 pounds with one hand and jumping tall buildings with a single bound.

Probably play twice this year if as good as advertised
Hope so. The Rams lost some starters(Juniors) from last year due to one thing or another which has been a set back but hopefully the younger guys can fill in. It sucks when you have such high hopes and they fall apart. 🤷

Who did they lose man? That Collins kid he was a great looking kid. The running back I think number five.

One offensive lineman Calhoun went back to Reagan. He was the biggest loss.

As Deana said losing Calhoun. He went back to play with the other lineman that originally went there to play his freshman year. No the big guy never came back. There's about 3 others as well. Hard to keep everything together. Could've been one of the best teams in school history. I still think we will be really good but there's always a part that wonders what could've been.

What could've been still wouldn't have beaten Mt airy IMO

Ok folks…we will see in a few months. Starmount will still return the majority of last year’s team plus some newcomers.

Offensively, they are going to be very tough with some very talented skill players and upfront. The emphasis has been on defense early and that what’s Coach Pardue is really good at.

Coach Lloyd started us back on track going 10-2. It was first 10 win season since we played WRH for the 1AA title in 2014.

Kids are working hard at the workouts. Expectations are high.

I know it's early but this matchup will be intriguing at the running back position. Billips(Starmount) vs Martin(Mt Airy). Both Jonesville running backs and most likely cousins. That's another what could've been. A Starmount backfield with both in it. Martin's dad played on the Rams 98' championship team.

He did didn't he. Was he a linebacker? Is the coach at starting out now was he on that team? I think Starmount in anybody's biggest problem is going to be Martin. But it's also going to be the combination of the guy beside him. My nephew says he thinks they're going to be better than last year. I know they have almost 40 kids on the varsity two of them being sophomores. I'm not saying you pixel that in as a loss every week but you probably do until Thanksgiving

Shanlyn Martin was a fullback/linebacker on the 1998 team with current Rams HFC Josh Pardue, who was a tight end/defensive end.

This post is about Starmount and I’d like for the main focus to be on Starmount.

There are too many good threads that get hijacked to other topics.

Any updates on the field installation?
And is any work being done on the visitors side standings?

No grass left in stadium. No work on visitors bleachers yet until they get all the excavations done.

Deana, I know that it's partially speculation(especially for the newcomers) at this point but how do you think this group of talent compares to years past?

Update on field, PLEASE. Thank you. (You see, nothing about that other team or any other team.)
H&R Block Block of the Game Likes Starmount.

Any insights on what kind of game we could see with Starmount playing Mt Airy. I’m looking forward to coming up and seeing the matchup. Regardless I’m wanting to come up anyway to see something different and seeing the new turf at Starmount.

Top returners:

SENIORS:

RB/DB Kinston Crater - all conference who ran for over 1,100 yards with 18 touchdowns - will likely play more on defense this season

OL Jacob Mabrey - all conference who will be an anchor on the line

WR/DB KJ Allen - had over 400 receiving yards with 4 touchdowns - key return man on special teams

QB/DB/P Luke Collins - all conference on both sides of ball - passed for over 1,000 yards with 14 touchdowns and ran for over 500 yards with 5 touchdowns in only 8 games - plays safety and a good hitter - great leg for a punter

WR/QB/ATH Colton Allen - all conference WR - very valuable player for the Rams - accounted for over 900 yards as a passer, rusher, and receiver with 15 touchdowns

OL Mario Harlee - big and agile lineman who is starting to get college interest - looks to have a great year

LB Evan Shore - good all around player

DL Ethan York - one of the most improved players on team

DL Landon Roberts - strong kid and will be a key player on the line

OL/DL/P Jacob Groce - good all around player who has a good leg

JUNIORS

RB Jymir Billips - HM all-conference - ran for over 600 yards with 8 touchdowns - expecting a big year from him

TE/DL Cory Armstrong - got lots of reps last season and will be a key player

OL/Dl Sam Shore - HM all-conference - got lots of experience last year - may be the center

SOPHOMORES

RB/LB Cody Hernandez - got a lot of reps as a freshman and expecting a huge year from him

OL/Dl Silas Brown - played mostly on JV but contributed on varsity on several occasions due to injuries and during playoffs

There are some very good talent newcomers that will be ready to show out as the season starts.

Two kids I’m keeping a lookout on is Keyvon Propst and Aamir Adams.

I'm anxious to see what Jymir does this year. I think he may have a break out year. Very quick and shifty and not afraid of contact. Tough. Also excited to see the newcomers.
