Darquez was surrounded by some of the best talent ever at Shelby, two bonafied receivers in Wright and Borders, a D1utility player in Calvin Camp, and 4 out of 5 offensive line who went on to play college ball. I told the current quarterback who was a sophomore then that Lee may had to do two year bud behind RJ, but both he and RJ both would envy the talent he inherited. Darquez was a gunslinger, no doubt, great arm, but he moved and ran like he had a tv on his back, he would get killed in this current offense.
Like I said in another thread, I certainly don't absolve #12 from anything, he does hold onto the ball longer than he should at times, and is too petrified to make mistakes, but who is getting any separation out there at receiver? Malik threw for over 3500 yards last season, he had the greatest receiver ever in Borders, a burner who consistently clocked 4.4, and commanded so much attention, it freed up the other receivers. Combine that with a senior laden line, a strong unit, one of the strengths of that team, and that's a recipe for a strong offense. You're entitled to your opinion, though, and so am I
