Don't know anything about Fike....but I can tell you Northern Guilford is battle tested considering their non conf schedule and the conference they play out of...only a couple of cupcakes on that schedule and that would be 2 teams in their conference that they have to play..............
I don't know much about these teams' makeup this year but this match-up has the makings to be a great game. Northern Guilford may not be quite as strong as their championship teams but they still pack a wallop. Fike is one of those teams that makes a decent run in the playoffs year after year. Northern Guilford should have the edge in this one but it wouldn't surprise me if Fike made a game of it, at least well into the 3rd quarter.

For all the garbage I've heard spewed about Crest vs Northern Guilford & not wanting none & beating the brakes off etc. I had to actually look up some facts even though this matchup can't happen this year. The schools have played 3 times. Northern Guilford has won twice at neutral sites in the title game by scores of 21-20 in 2010 & 31-7 in 2011. Crest won last year in the regional final at Crest 23-17 (in overtime wasn't it?). So for all the talk, it sounds like 2 very good games & only 1 butt kick-in/brake beatin off of/pick your term game.

Yea I thought I was going see the best championship game a few years back. Saw all the clemson and Florida coaches who came to see that great crest defense. TJ Logan made crest look like a 2nd string middle school defense. I expect the same result would occur to most overrated bunch in the state!
I'll say this much for Herr Roscoe: He's had 19 teams attempt to beat his Nighthawks in the playoffs and only one, Anson County, did it and that was by 2 points in 2009.
However and wherever he finds them fellas to wear that purple-black combo outfit, it has worked out pretty well.
I'll get right in the thick of it and say that Fike has some talent and speed and with the right combination of execution, determination and God's will, the Demons might pull off an upset. Of course, if I had to put money on it, being of mostly sound mind, I wouldn't bet against Roscoe since he seems to have made some type of Faustian deal. They say he went to South Carolina to retire but we (at least those of us who have drawn a breath there) all know that "South Carolina" is just another name for H-E-double toothpicks. And they sent him back to get Robert Brian Thomas and send him to "South Carolina" so Roscoe could continue doing the good work the folks in "South Carolina" had sent him up here to do.
I'll be there Friday night and might poke at Johnny's hat if I can get near enough to him to see if there are a couple of filed down bumps up there on that noggin. Some of the folks in County of Guilford swear there are.

I really try to stay out of the pissing contests... But Northern has three titles in what 7 or 8 years of existence? How many does Crest have in that same time frame? That's like Saying Notre Dame is better than every one because they have 11 National Championships. When was the last one? Even though it's in the lower seventies, temperature wise, where I am currently sitting, Mister P.D. Sports, there are not many more places I'd rather be than Wilson this evening. The carnival will be returning to the Triad sometime around Thanksgiving, or shortly thereafter. I attended a game at Fike many moons ago, Sir, and it was a wonderful experience, as were the trips to Wilson to view Mister Roscoe's Magical Magic Tour at Wilson Hunt. This event occurred prior to PonyDog being hatched, or before PonyDog Senior's only thoughts slash concerns concerning Trojans was the USC kick ball squad. When PonyDog types yet another attempt of degradement slash Roscoe Envy-ish statement, just think of a man sitting by his computer with three sizes too small underwear, smelling his own sulphur smellin' farts, chomping on Pork Skins and guzzlin' Milwaukee's Best, and that will put his horseshyt in perspective.

It's not been a bad afternoon but, as Ned Stark would say, "Winter is coming" tonight and that may have a double-meaning for the Golden Demons.
Still, I wouldn't be surprised if the Right Honorable Coach Henry Trevathan made an appearance at the game, perhaps to remind the Johnny (Roscoe) Come Latelys that winning 3 straight titles with a legendary running back is not a novel script idea. The appearance of Carlester Himself in the former Cyclone Country Cinderblock Palace on Harrison Drive is a much rarer thing but each and every kid who plays at Fike is made aware that once upon a time Wiltsin was briefly the One True Kingdom of NCHSAA football.
But nobody west of Winston will recognize that since they were running their own secesh operation in that time before Charlie flushed the rebs of the mountain lairs and made them sign an oath of allegiance. Clearly the hillfolk still have rebellious tendencies as witnessed hereabouts.
