Possible counties with new schools in the next 5 years

I could see a new fourth high school in Moore County in the Eastwood area with a third of Pinecrest and a third of Union Pines making up the student population.
But the problem is that the board of education refuses to build another high school in Moore county

That's what happens when you allow extremist that don't support public education to get into school board positions. The wool is off.

Not likely to happen with the present board of education in Moore County.
If Moore county builds another HS, they will make it open enrollment. The county actually has very strict enrollment and usually doesn’t allow transfers without the parents paying a fee. The last thing they want to do is ruin Pinecrest sports success (board speaking) and building another HS does that. The current Pinecrest location has a bunch of land to build a 9th grade academy (biggest issue) considering most of the 12th graders have 1-2 on campus classes with the rest being at Sandhills CC.

Richmond County will begin building a 9th Grade building on their campus pretty soon, which will eliminate the Richmond County 9th Grade Academy. If they can, I’m supremely confident Pinecrest can.

That's actually smart because NCHSAA counts the freshman academy as part of Richmond Senior's pull anyway.

And Moore county can do that for Pinecrest, but they won't despite the fact Pinecrest has 100 acres to play with.

I know Wayne county was talking about doing something with Rosewood Middle school due to the age and state of the buildings and the fact that it and Rosewood High have a combined 60 acres. A suggestion was made to build a brand new middle school on a fresh 40 acres and let the high school completely take over to make room for any potential spill over from Johnston county but they don't want to bite into that idea.

How many freshman do you think will play varsity football because of this? They have had freshmen at the ninth grade campus play varsity sports.

That's a really good question. They could go with somewhere between zero and one for each position. Only time, talent, and coaching decisions will tell.

Union county is the Mecklenburg as Johnston is to Wake. Very similar set up. Johnston just passed a 2000+ high school to open in 3 years
