Newton Conover vs Hibriten

Great effort from both teams. Great game to watch, except for the Refs slowing it down ridiculously!!
Hibriten had no business winning that game tonight.... If NC doesn't throw an INT in the 1st quarter after driving the ball for 8 minutes, cut back on penalties and get to attempt the FG that was blocked then it's a different game.... I was very impressed with NC and they definitely watched the film from last years playoff loss to South Point because their game plan was almost identical.... Their RB #24 can be a beast when given the chance
Newton opened some eyes tonight! People may want to start mentioning them as a team that can play with the big boys! Can't hang your head to low on a 1 point loss at Hibriten.
This was a great game to watch as a fan. Im disappointed in the outcome but the atmosphere was one of a 3rd round playoff matchup.
Congrats to Hibriten on a hard fought battle. We needed a game like this before conference play next week. Tonight's game will be beneficial to both teams.
2 very good teams played a heck of a ball game. Hibriten blocks a field goal and our player smacks the ball away thinking it was a dead ball. Woulda been a TD. Also Gee didn't get a lot of touches Bc we fumbled ball away so much and Newton had long ball controlling drives.
Wish I could've been at this one. From clips I saw. NC drives down on 1st possession of ball game kills clock and throws a INT. You can say that Hibriten was giving the game away with turnovers, but when you are killing clock get in the Redzone, forget that GL and don't score you are killing yourself, You don't want it. Who is NC OC, Darrell Bevell????? Man you got a big strong senior RB and you don't feed em?
It's funny to read the comments of the criticism of the coaches on both sides. They are the ones that put in work daily and the critics just come on Friday night and know more than they do. A couple of observations to make known. 1 NC had nothing to lose with attempting a field goal because in high school football if you attempt a field goal from that far out it doesn't matter because it is considered a punt at that situation. #2 Gee didn't get as many touches as you would like because he was cramping all night and couldn't stay on the field without cramping. #3 for the hibriten defense that struggled in the 1st half, came back and battled and got the job done after making adjustments. Hat's off to both teams!! Made for a great Friday night!!!!
Yeap, I've seen teams kick FG from 90 yds out in HS, it's a punt. R has to know all the scenarios that can happen. Only seen clips of game but looked like after block Hibriten player had a chance to score or go for a huge gain down the field after block. I know some coaches will use a FG cause the defense will not put anyone back and if your kicker has a leg get a bounce and turn field possession.
It was a shocker reguardless. After some games of no score/mercy score at the end of Robinson game, nobody gave or seem to give NC a rats chance to even make it interesting let alone almost win although it was area game of the week and for good reason.
This game told me a couple things well 3 things - 1. Games aren't played on paper 2. Newton will cruise through their conference play except with Maiden 3. Hibriten is prob not ready for SP or Shelby just yet. Not to say they won't be but if they played tomm or next week it wouldn't look good lol.
Both teams needed a game like this for playoff prep and competition upbeat. Easy road for both teams rest of season til playoff time. All the Lincoln schools are weak this year even North although looking improved in the passing game and was figuring WL to possibly/maybe be the conf runner up to Newton but after them losing to EB( another shocker), well I just don't see Newton having much issues. This game was a great learning experience for both teams and a great gate sale.

I overheard strait from Matt Beams mouth that this team could very well be his best ever about three weeks ago. With that said if he is correct I think Hibriten will be just fine. It also means there is another heavyweight for the postseason this year.
Massive improvement and upgrade from last year. You NC fans called it at the end of last season that this will be the year and have a lot coming back with a powerful JV team to feed into it
