Mallard Creek needs a week 5 opponent

Another real big name in the mix but SC is calling, too.
So they will have 4 OOS games and 1 NC team on the non conference schedule? Can't remember the last time this has happened in this state. Are these NC schools that terrified of MC?

That was intended for Mooresville HC vacancy. Now edited for more clarity.

So a school from SC is contacting Hales? Or you are referring to a coach from SC contacting Moorseville interested in the HC job over there?

Sorry for the mix up.

A big name coach from NC will most likely be in the mix at Mooresville but also has SC schools contacting him. Believe me, if Motown hires him it will cause us all to take notice. SC is calling meant that schools there are interested in him.

Hales has been at Butler a long time and I think he can sniff another title run coming up. Very strong group got there last year. I am a big Hales guy. I think he is about more than the money right now so I expect him to be in Matthews for awhile. Just my opinion. If a NC public college offered some type of position I do believe that would be a taker.

So dillon, butler, byrnes, south pointe, and another OOS big time team? Man if MC escapes that schedule 4-1 I would be more than impressed. I wish other schools would start scheduling some of the rock hill programs annually.

They are public, but during conversation with their fans on Nationalhighschoolfootball Varsity board. They have new players showing up on a regular from other schools.

This sounds like public schools in the Miami area. South Florida has a real "transfer season" and its no joke.

Not Florida, but i concur with the way kids move around in Florida. I've heard story's of kids leaving their perspective schools and practicing a week with one school, than returning to the school they left.. lol

Yea Miami Central and Booker T. Washington are the two powerhouses in public school in Miami. Those 2 schools have some of the craziest transfer stories I have ever heard. I did hear one time about a RB leaving BTW for Central than going back to BTW in a couple weeks like you said. Although, those programs are really impressive when you consider they produce more talent than a school like Mallard Creek with only 1000 kids for enrollment (BTW).

I would love to see Mallard Creek play a florida school from the Miami area. St. Thomas Aquinis, American Heritage, Miami Central, etc. I know Palmeri is from down there. Those schools have more pure athletes than the creek but I think the creek are fundamentally sound and can beat some of these teams. It would bring a lot of positive attention to the state of NC.

The biggest issue I have with Florida high schools is the age limit is 19 years and 9 months. In NC you cannot turn 19 before August 1. A few years ago a player played through the semi finals and then could not play in the title game (may have been the quarter finals and then could not play in the semi finals) due to turning 19 years and 9 months. Think he went onto Alabama.

You are probably talking about Calvin Ridley who just finished his freshman season at Alabama and is already 21. He is from Miami. Probably the best freshman WR in the country this past season and will be a 1st round pick in 2 years. Although, he only played 3 games his senior year before his eligibility ran up. Kelvin Benjamin is also from florida and had the same issue his senior year.

Say what you want about Florida, you can't deny that they produce the best athletes in the country, more specifically the Miami metro area. That is why I would love to see the creek play against one for those teams to see where they really stack up.

Seen some of the best in Florida from the Panhandle to Dade County and in between. I agree that they turn out the best athletes but if we had a "13th grade" in NC I think you would see the field even out a little.

That's what i was thinking. I was a 17 yr senior. I cant even thinking about the maturity mental and physical advantage in playing someone that is 2 years and change older than me. Not fair or cool

1. Dillon, SC
2. Butler
3. Byrnes, SC
4. South Pointe, Rock Hill
5. Grayson, Ga

Really impressive. Channing Stribling's mother moved down to Georgia and his little brother plays for them. Exact clone of his older brother. Watch out for him, plays both sides just like his brother did in HS.

Looks like 5 weeks of hell for MC early in the season. Butler might be the lightweight out of the 5 and that's saying something. Props to the AD and Palmeri.

I think MC could come away 4-0 before playing Grayson. What games are home/away?

Brynes & Grayson are Home games on Saturday
Dillon, Butler and South Pointe are away games.

MC has never played Butler at Butler, that game will most likely be @ Providence or Memorial. I believe the Brynes & Grayson games will be at Mallard Creek not Memorial

Byrnes game has to be at Memorial although I would like to see them try to get the game played at UNCC if that is legal under NCAA rules. I think the only time the game cannot be played at the FBS school is when it is an all star game.

Really do not think the "Mythical" number one ranking is the goal. Now stringing together another state championship or four maybe I think is a more tangible goal. Its a shame that MC had to go outside NC for 4 of there 5 non conference games.......I mean are these Coaches in NC that weak that they do not want to challenge themselves and there program?? If Mallard Creek gets through this murders row of games relatively healthy the grit and mental strength of this team will be hard to beat going into Conference play and the playoffs...

Congrats guys for filling out your schedule. And you are playing up a classification based on enrollment. "As tough a schedule as anybody in the Southeast" ? Let's review;
MC upcoming schedule vs Shelby 2015 schedule- toughest.
Grayson vs Crest- both defending state champs up in classification.
Even
Byrnes vs Belmont South Point - Byrnes out in 3rd round, BSP is a state finalists and up a class for Shelby.
Advantage Shelby
Rock Hill South Pointe vs Kings Mountain - RHSP is state champs and down a class, KM makes Western Finals and up a class for Shelby.
Even
Butler vs Freedom - Butler out in 2nd round, Freedom out in 2nd with Bama running back and up a class for Shelby.
Advantage Shelby.
Dillon vs AC Reynolds - Dillon is 2A state champs but down 2 full classes, Reynolds out in 2nd round with Shrine Bowl MVP and up a class.
Even
Shelby High has an enrollment of 850 students.
Mallard Creek has an enrollment of 2300.
3 opponents of each even, 2 more difficult for Shelby. And Shelby played up a class against 2 other opponents.
Shelby 15-1 last year, losing a close one with Crest. A remarkable performance and we challenge anyone to match it.

I really don't know why but I just cant help myself.

Crest Vs Grayson. Grayson top 20 nationally, Probably top 5 Pre-season in 2016. Crest? Very good 3a program.. Grayson wins by 3 TD's. Advantage MC

Byrnes vs Belmont SP LOL.. Is Belmont SP that little itty bitty team that lost to the other little itty bitty team from the coast?? Byrnes by 40. Advantage MC

Rock Hill Southpoint vs Kings Mountain. RH Southpoint top 50 nationally. I swear to god I have no idea where Kings Mountain even is. I think I have seen a sign for them on the highway. Southpoint by 30 I guess. Advantage MC

Butler Vs Some team called Freedom. Not even sure.. Butler by 50?? Advantage MC

Dillon Vs AC Reynolds...4 time 2a champ in SC. I wont even predict this one

Your 100% correct on one point Shelby does have 850 students. There a nice little school that has won a lot of games for a very long time. Congrats. Now.. we can get back to talking about nationally relevant schools playing powerhouse programs from 3 different states and you can go back to talking about something called Kings Mountain.

Butler games are heavyweight bouts. Especially the regular season games. There is not a lightweight in that group and if MC doesn't come to play in each and everyone of them they could easily take a loss.

Dillon has won 4 consecutive titles and the last six of eight.South Pointe has won the last two 3a titles and Byrnes record speaks for itself. This is a serious serious schedule!

This Mallard Creek team is going to be very Senior heavy with a lot of talent coming back on both sides of the ball. The State Championship performance is a precursor for what this team can be in the upcoming season. Naturally chemistry and a knew signal caller will be key but all of the skill positions and core leadership on the OL/DL & LB crew are back... The State Championship Game yes was a mismatch but the thing i took away from it was the level of intensity and physical play overall. Playing a tough schedule sets that type of mentality in a team..

Who is 33 and 12?? Are they rising seniors or graduated?

33 is Darnell Walker. He is a junior and will be back next year.

12 is Corey Sutton. Corey has graduated early and is in Manhattan, KS catching footballs for Bill Snyder and the KSU Wildcats.

We are looking forward to watching Corey run wild in the Big 12
