Mallard Creek needs a week 5 opponent

Who is 33 and 12?? Are they rising seniors or graduated?

#12 Corey Sutton is going through spring ball @ Kansas State already. His replacement will be 6'5" Keyshaun Able. He was out his entire sophomore season due to injury, which put him behind his junior season. He is now clicking on all cylinders. A definite FBS wr. Great route runner for a kids his size with exceptional speed. People will think he's a transfer when they see him on the field. :) Along with Ryan Jones UNC commit. He's 6'3" 218 on the opposite side. Dangerous!

Darnell Walker was the the #2 back for the Creek last year. He played with a brace on his knee the entire season. He's already 10 lbs bigger, no brace and faster. High School version of Beast Mode.

Kinda surprised Jones isn't at safety or do he excel that much better at wr?

Do you think next year team will be better than 2015?

Who are yall looking at, at qb?

No telling were Jones ends up as the season progress. He will most likely start off @ wr. Secondary was the weak spot last year. Not this year. Numerous kids allegedly moving to the Creek to compete for the QB spot, Out of State, different city's in NC, JV starter and numerous QB's on campus.

Think it is entirely to early to try and compare to 2015. When 2015 played with a edge they were 3 or 4 TD's better than anyone in the state. You lose two BCS level talents in Moss and Brown who may very well compete and contribute as freshman at NCstate and FSU. You also lose the best QB and leader the school has seen in LJ.

That said at the very least from a personnel standpoint they could be special on defense next year. With what is coming back and additions they will be 12--13 deep in that front 7 with big fast bodies. Competition for snaps should be fierce.

I also think coaching continuity plays a big part. We don't know yet if the coaching staff will be back intact but I think that part of the equation helped to cause some early season inconsistencies. Stone on defense, Garcia on offense, loss of Cox, loss of Gray. Lot of moving parts. I think they really started hitting their stride late in the season and would expect that only to get better if in fact the stay for 2016.

Fellas y'all understand what 98 means. He's referring to the strength of schedule versus the team with that schedule. Or at least that's what I assume. The Shelby schedule wouldn't be difficult at all for MC but for a 2A Shelby its a tough schedule. Almost like comparing fighters from different weight classes. May weather is the best boxer pound for pound but I doubt he could beat the heavyweight champ! MC is the heavyweight champ!! Now with that said 98 surely you don't think that Shelby could beat or even play with MC? Well I hope you don't think that.

what do you MC guys think about #35 at LB

#35 is Kalen Allen.....This young man was a Sophomore last year and is just really learning the position. He has a chance to be one of the greats at the MIKE to come out of Mallard Creek and there have been some good ones.

Who is #2 and #21. I think the line of scrimmage in where MC will dominate everyone. I think Coach P will be prepared for all gimmicks. Onsides kicks, fake punts, fake fgs, trick plays. I think this team will be focus from day 1. Can't believe the amount of talent in Charlotte esp at 1 school. I've seen Alabama and GA high school powerhouses. I will not be shocked if Grayson loses by double digits. MC Oline and Dline are monsters

#21 is Mines graduating 2016 Signee with Gardner Webb
#2 is Gordon graduating 2016 Signee with Furman

champ_24 the tough part for NC schools is the limited football training they are allowed as a team during the offseason. Also, it is almost a given that any school in most of the southeast is going to have a football class for weights and hands on coaching. NC really tries to limit it. Coaches cannot even take players to combines and camps. Really!?!?! I thought the best things for kids was more time around good adult role models and others in their age group that were not getting in trouble. Hopefully the NC Football Coaches Assoc can start to improve things. I saw some good things at the coaches clinic meeting but saw some of the same things also.

Don't most schools have their football players in weight classes during the school day all year around? I know lots of the Charlotte schools do.

I hate that Mallard creek is playing an OOS team week 1. Those Dillon kids will have gone through spring ball since early spring and have been hitting in pads forever. NC football needs to wake the hell up!!!! These kids need to start spring ball way before the last week of May like it right now. We also need to let them hit in full pads before August.

One of the unspoken secrets to the sucess at MC is the enormous amount positive adult mentor ship surrounding the program. It's an impressive sight to see as great professional role models who are mostly parents of ex players have invested a major amount of time and resources getting groups of kids to camps or helping put kids in contact with trainers etc. The phrase " it takes a village" is the thing that strikes me most. Leadership at nearly every turn keeps kids eyes on the prize and the results have been remarkable. Too many kids to name have many Creek Men to thank for some of their sucess

Hahaha...good one! Definitely made me laugh.

Ya know what Hokie your right. I thought rd 1 last year MC played poorly and should have won by much more but the playoff game was a heavyweight brawl played at a high level on a terrible field. Butler was the one team that could give MC a game when they played well.

At full health that was a very underated Butler team last year.

We understand EXACTLY what he is trying to srgue. Shelby plays a very tough local schedule for a 2a squad. Mallard Creek is playing national powerhouse programs from 3 different states. There is simply no comparison a t any level.

I give you guys full credit for 99.8% of your statement being dead on, with only a couple of exceptions sprinkled in (I think East Forsyth was right there as well). Other than those two opponents, I don't know who else in NC gives you a full blown game last year when you were firing on all cylinders. Maybe Shelby? Page, physically, had the horses...but were mentally rattled before they even got off the bus, so I don't think we can realistically add them to the list. Catholic is top 5 in the state good, but MC is a worst case scenario matchup for them. And that's about the entire list. It's pretty short, for sure.

MC going to Hoover for 7 on 7 this year?

We beat Hoover last year in the Semi Final game. The refs were Pro Hoover. They stole the game. The Creek should've been playing in the Championship game. No! not going back

Winning does the most. Parents and kids see the attention that Mallard Creek gets. They are putting 12 to 15 players in college every year from major D1 to D2. Now, they have gotten kids to the NFL.

I will state it here. Mallard Creek is the program they are today because of what was said above. There is a group that has been there from Day 1 trying to instill values and hard work to those young men.

What keeps this program rolling year after year? Recruiting involved?(not trying to be funny)

Palmieri get's over 50 calls a week from parents who want to bring their kids to Mallard Creek. That's on a slow week. The home grown OL: 6'5" 290, 6'6" 285, 6'7" 270, 6'2" 310, 6'4" 300. The JV OL was bigger than 85% of the high school teams in NC.The majority of players graduate with a 3.0 gpa or better. Annually you might get 2 or 3 kids that crack the starting roster the entire season. Recruit WHO, WHY and Where?

Another great answer. I dont know what else to ask. You have said it firm and clear. Nothing to nick and pick from your statement after those great bullets you just expressed. PHENOMENAL!

------------------ BREAK ------------------

Now when you say the school receives calls, are these kids from far away counties that the whole family moves to Charlotte or do they end up making that travel daily?
Also, if they make the travel by living too far away, is this allowed(legally)?
I only ask because I live an hour from Jack Britt, where I wanted to transfer my kido and they where taking nobody. They also ask from what I was told, a light bill to assure you live in the jurisdiction.

If you want to attend Mallard Creek you have to live in the district. You need to provide proof of residency and you will be subject to frequent checks. There is no system that allows for playing and living elsewhere.

Sweet! There are parents calling from California to New York. The majority of them never show up. I personally see over 20 new faces that quit after the 1st week on a annual bases. If you don't live in the Mallard Creek district you cannot play for the Creek. If one of your parents work for CMS they can play for any school in CMS district i believe? That's the only way other than establishing residency.

And the reason for quitting?(please dont tell me they quit after running into intense work out)

It's a different animal. I've never had conversations with the players that quit. I believe they take a look around at the competition and decide not to come back

Incorrect. The student can attend the school that their parent works at even if it is out of the district. They cannot go to any school though. Home district, magnet, or school parent(s) work at.

I remember now. After the 7 on 7 vs. Hoover. Didn't Coach P or another coach ask for a Mallard Creek/ Hoover game?

TALKING ABOUT ONLY 4A SCHOOLS HERE
..."this program rolling year after year" ?
Only been three titles. Butler just did that.
Just 10 years ago, Deana could have made the identical quote above about Independence. 10 years before that Richmond Co.
What makes anyone think MC will still be dominating 10 years from now?
With Indy, it was clearly coaching related. If Palmieri goes, does the dominance go with him?
What, if anything, makes MC stand even a decade's test of time?
Now that is a respectful 4A question.

Indy the 2nd longest winning streak in High School history, 109. No school in America will break that record. They put NC Football on the map. Butler is a top 5 program in the State every year. MC has never lost more than 2 games a season on the field since the 2nd year of existence. This will be the 10th year. Who's know's where they will be in 10 years, they are definitely off to a awesome start. It's a difficult task to stay on top when playing big boy football. All 3 teams have been Nationally ranked.
