3 win season to the CFP in 3 years, phew. We'll see if we can get a better bowl than Clemson, LSU, Florida, Miami and USC as the other teams who were pre-season top 15 teams.Lotta people thought they would be playing at Lucas Oil

Gotta love sports.Or Coastal, App or East Carolina
I love that they play a rivalry game like this every year and think State should play Duke as well every year. I thin every teams should add one more game like this and get rid of their their scrimmages. I think scrimmages should not count to making you bowl eligible either.Correct, forgot to mention that to Nepsy. Both teams felt like they didn't meet enough with the ACC scheduling so they scheduled some non-conference games, which is pretty cool.
Why are North Carolina and Wake Forest playing a non-conference game?
Is that even allowed?ftw.usatoday.com
Defense not looking too good tonight
Unreal this is a great way to brighten up a long week of work. This dude is hilarious!
Is Howell playing in the game against the Pack? I'm hearing chatter.Gotta love sports.
GO Heels!

They play Wofford on Saturday. I would definitely set him. From what Mack said yes. This Saturday is a game time decision.
No idea. They say he's day to day, but I think he sits this week and gives Maye and Criswell some game experience. He gets pumped to play State, especially since that clip that State put out on Twitter before the game last year but I don't know what he or his family wants to do right now. Mack says he's as good as gone to the NFL and then Sam comes back and says he doesn't know for sure. If we had something to play for, I'd be more interested in how it plays out, but at this point, just be done with this year and get these young guys on the field next year.Is Howell playing in the game against the Pack? Sure hope he gets a lot of burn next year along with Pettaway and Hampton. Those two backs along with Green/Beau/Jones outside, Nesbit over the middle and Downs in the slot.Nothing on WR1? One of the best WRs I've seen at the HS level in a number of years.

Down Two of three starters on the DL, two of three LB starters , 1 safety, and the nickel and you still can not win the game. This does not even take into consideration one of the starting corners from last year that got hurt in the preseason and has not played. On top of it State did not play well and UNC still found a way to lose. UNC should not go to a bowl game. I mean really beat a division 1 team who has hardly won a game to get bolw eligible is a crime. Interesting for State, they may get everyone back on defense next year except one DL.
Tucker just signed a 10 year contract at stay at MSU.Lol...Travis Shsw hasn't set foot on campus but he is gonna be a difference maker.
Truth is Conley, Murphy, Grimes, Evans played most of the year, all big recruits and the defense was still real bad. Gonna assume if Echols, Ritzie, RaRa were ready to contribute they would have seen the field more.
Mack got a ton of hype for all the right reasons. He has energized a program but the reality is outside of Notre Dame they probably have had better recruiting classes the last 2 years than any team they played this year and needed a win over Wofford to be bowl eligible.
This was a disastrous year regardless of how many UNC coaches want to blame it on the media for over hyping.
The development of talent is a HUGE concern. NC State's Oline doesn't have a 4 or 5 star on it. Two are converted DLs. Yet they have a top 20 NFL pick and probably 2 draft prospects on it.
Talent isn't the issue. Whole scale coaching changes are required.
I'm curious. Mel Tucker was tossed around as a canidate 2-3 years ago. Would you UNC guys like to replay that decision now?
Wow lets unpack your delusional thinking. Losing seven players on Defense for the year and still playing at a high level.. one player that was a main candidate for player of years plus the 2/3 of DL and LB starters ( all better than UNC ) and still play at a high level ( again higher than UNC) This is called program building and state looks in good shape on defense as 26 our the first 28 are back with a good foundation of young players in the DL and LB and secondary groups. State look look solid for the following year as well as many of the kids have at least two years of eligibility left.. As I understand all you want to talk about is wait until next years for the hyped recruits who were not good enough to beat out the players from one of the worst units in the ACC... Go sell that to someone without blue tinted glasses. I am sure mack can sell it to another high ranking.... but can he back it up.Injuries are a part of football. State was still about a TD favorite to win the game at kickoff. One of their best teams in years needed a miracle to pull off a W in Raleigh. That's what would concern me if I were a State fan. They can't keep getting owned on the recruiting trail because:
Ja Conley (injured by the way), Power Echols, and Travis Shaw are going to be on a different level than Cam'ron Kelly, Trey Morrison, Jeremiah Gemmel and Ray Vohasek.
Coaching, I'll give you, has been terrible for the better part of the season. Definitely needs to be a staff shake up. HOWEVER, one more class like these last three, and they'll be able to overwhelm teams with talent. Even mediocre coaching wins that game tonight.

I read this alot about it being year 3. To be sure thats not along time but following that mindset let me ask this-Yes, Doeren has been at State for nine years. Mack is in year three of a rebuild - three years removed from a 2-9 season. His first top 25 class are true sophomores. And there freshman year was screwy thanks to Covid. Anyone that knows football will tell you that's a huge difference.

Who is responsible for last year? Outside of Howell those were all Fedora's recruits correct. All the NFL guys were recruited by Fedora. If you tell me it was all MAck last year then who is responsible for this season? 90% his kids right?
If you had to bet your life on it, outside of Howell who is a sure fire NFL draft pick on this current team. Downs and I think Grimes. Zero Oline...Front 7 on defense? Maybe Murphy?
Says the UNC fan whose team "squeaked out a win" (actually twice the last 2 seasons) against a Wake Forest team made up of 2-3 stars; even rushed the field after getting by said 2-3 stars on your home field. How long can Mack count on stuff like that when he's getting his ass handed to him in the coaching department? That's what I'd be asking myself as a UNC fan.^^There's nothing delusional about that - just facts bud. I'm not say they haven't lost games they should've won. They absolutely have. The team has some flaws.
But if I'm a State fan, I'm not as thrilled about that win, and the overall direction of the program after about a decade of Doeren. You were almost a TD favorite and squeeked out a win after:
Two blocked punts, Two FGs inside the five, recovering an onside kick, and a busted coverage.

. Here is an interesting fact about football.. Depth matters, character of program matters, when every kids thinks he deserves playing time by showing up.... development suffers.... DD got a wake up call a few years ago and realized after losing a great coordinator and a few assistants he need to return to developing a deeper team and better assistants. Despite your assessment it appears one of the two programs is heading in a positive trajectory. They beat the heels even though the talent level was so decimated with injuries and next year they will be deeper than UNC again with kids who have performed at a high level in college.....not still reading their HS clippings.^There's nothing delusional about that - just facts bud. I'm not say they haven't lost games they should've won. They absolutely have. The team has some flaws.
