What a great game! Congrats to West Lincoln!

Great win! …for the Johnnys!

CVAC! Baby…just never know.

I must say…I expected this before the season started….and then I thought Maiden would waltz through it…after Watauga.

Gotta give ‘em credit…West Lincoln deserved the win.

It’s gonna be fun to watch this conference the rest of the way.

Good stuff!

I feel like this will be a wake-up call for some of these kids. I will say I really did like what I saw with some of the players holding other players accountable tonight

He definitely built a system that works for those kids. But that QB Allen is the engine that makes that team work. I would love to get a second shot at them in the playoffs that's how much I believe we can beat them if given another chance.

Absolutely correct. He is the best coach in the CVAC, and it's not even close. His team comes to play, and they play disciplined football, especially relative to defensive assignments. Not sure how WL will do the rest of the way, because they really don't have much in the way of talent. But they have a lot in the way of coaching. Maiden had more speed, size, and athleticism, but didn't come to play. We also had far too many senseless penalties. I've seen Maiden lose quite a few games down through my many decades of following Maiden football, but I'd be hard pressed to think of a more inexcusable loss that this one.

Thanks AMD, it feels good to win. Our last one was 11/3/23. In the first half the Red Devils had us down 21-7 and we managed to score late in the second quarter. We did better in the second half. We took a 28-21 lead but NC came right back down the field and we managed to stop them inside of the 1 yard line. Thought they had managed to stop us around the 1, too but Cloninger was able to score. Props to the guys on our offensive line, to Mayfield and C. Cloninger, they are both versatile players. Newton-Conover has a bunch of speed. This was a close game and I'm very glad we won it. Way to go Wolves.

*Tough break on the loss to West Lincoln. I know the Blue Devils will get things straightened out soon. They always do.

* Lincolnton Memorial Stadium now has the lighting system that can flash off and on and change colors. The Wolves had scored and were lining up for the extra point and the lights got stuck. Our announcer who is very good, and really business like, said "We're working on it" and our players were looking up at the press box, but they kept flashing. Eventually, we got penalized for delay of game, Our PB team got the lights fixed and we made the P.A.T. so "all's well that ends well," (👈if you'd care for a little Shakespeare). No, I guess you wouldn't, and neither do I.

*Heard we got Bandys, Saturday, at noon, there. All of a sudden I feel awfully tired.

One minute to go…2 huge penalties….and their QB eluded sacks for huge gains on 3 consecutive plays. The winning play was a dime at the front corner of the end zone…low and away…just a perfect pass. I might be wrong…but I think that was his only completion.

It was a great game…typical CVAC game.

Lincolnton didn’t disappoint. I knew they could pull one off and got it. Bout half of us I think went other way on that one. I’m Still toward the top and hanging better in the standings than last year. Last year I finished toward the middle

ALL of us missed out on the WL upset. Who’d ever thought cause Maiden hung with Watauga, WL was whopped by North Lincoln(score says it was close but that’s cause North lost 4 or 5 fumbles, shoulda been beat by more), WL loses close one to Bandys, STRUGGLES with Foard—- boys paper says one thing but that’s why we play the game. All good though, Maiden still in the running for conference and I believe they’ll take it. Could have another upset come around but I don’t see it

Other game down the road not far- I’m glad I I didn’t go, good grief North got CRUSHED by Hickory. Another point to make on that one in reference to WLs upset, that’s why we play the game. I believe many thought that’d be closer but knew Hickory would win.

No word on when East Burke make up game? I saw were Freedom was underwater(not the school but stadium area) so that effects all Burke I guess if one can’t play they all(Burke schools) don’t play. Think they go back on Monday

Ponder is not just a great coach but an even better human being. We had him at Burns as DC. I spent a good bit of time on Fridays with those guys and he was as passionate about the game of football as anyone. Glad to see he has built something at WL. He lived right down the road from the school so it made sense when he got the job that he would be in a good position to build that program up.

I believe I read where the NCHSAA is meeting to discuss scheduling, so the week 6 games may get pushed to the end but who knows.

I had people over last Saturday afternoon. I grilled 60 hot dogs and spent several hours making the chili and slaw just right. This group would have been impressed. The North likes how we make our hot dogs.

Ohhhh, Gimme a break, fellers. Homecoming will probably make the Trojans play harder, and considering the last time we came calling, a mediator could have been helpful.

AMD, if you mediate it will look like the Battle of the Bulge.

Side Note: Got to give credit where it's due. AMD, in only a year's time you've progressed well in the way of class and restraint...Let us do a comparison/contrast, here. Last night when the Blue Devils were upset by West, here is one of your most recent responses:👇

Got to say though, as rarely as the Blue Devils lose, when they did, the posts from the old you was really fun to read.

It's still there just a good week for the competition LOL. I got a lotta aggression out last Saturday and not having power for a week now, has drained my energy to burn the world down. But I got a little in me so here u go 🤣
I wish I knew how those pig fu$@&r's over there can get away with constantly holding and the RB's get to move forward before snap every down. 🤣🤣 A little entertainment for ya and to show I still have some old memories deep down 🤣🤣
