Not that it really matters, but I believe the final score of that game was 63-28, not 66. Maiden has played Shelby five times that I know of, and the Blue Devils are 0-5 in those games. Only one of the five games has been competitive, a 14-7 loss in 1998. Maiden had the ball and on the final play of the game threw about a 30 yard pass into the end zone. It looked like our receiver had a decent chance to make the catch, but the Shelby safety came over at the last instant and made a good play on the ball, batting it to the ground. Not sure of the exact scores in the four blowout losses, but I think they're somewhere in the neighborhood of 47-13 and 42-8, both at Maiden. The 14-7 and 63-28 games were at Shelby. Those games were all conference games when Shelby and Maiden were in a combined 1A/2A conference. Maiden played at Shelby in the 2019 2A playoffs and lost. I believe it was 49-7, but I could be wrong.
