Hope to catch up with y’all this year. Definitely coming to the Gaffney game but not sure which side I’ll sit on. I have close friends from both schools. Hope Crest can hang. might be a tough one for the chargers. Gaffney needs a QB though.

The only folks I know crazier than Shelby or Crest fans are Gaffney fans. You’re right it’s probably going to be a tough night but as coach says iron sharpens iron. You don’t get better playing Freedom but you’ll know right who you are when you’re done with Gaffney.

Man your right about gaffney fans. I too work in gaffney at a truck assembly plant. They don't do it anymore. But in the kaye nineties. Every friday. All day. Someone would start beating on a box. It would start spreading like the wave. Everybody would be doing the wahoo chop and chant. It was actually pretty awesome. I hated every minute of it. But it was impressive.
I was good friends with Joe Montgomery HC years ago. He told me these fans down here are different. Still pretty much the same way. You wouldn’t believe the stories he told me about parents, teachers, fans and rednecks in Gaffney, but he said bunch of good people down there that hated to lose. Good thing and close to the same way at Crest and Shelby every time they don’t win a ring. I wish some of that was in KM….they keep losing and hoping for next year. Golf and politics matter in KM….football is down the food chain.

Catawba Ridge 11-2 last season , South Carolina 4A.
So Crest plays Monroe at CC jamboree Wednesday , Catawba Ridge the following Friday and Gaffney at home the next Friday. Wow

I still would say mallard creek has the hardest schedule in the state but Crest is definitely up there with one of the toughest schedules for sure.

We have never seen the tide turn in Cleveland County as it is and will be turning. Love watching all the Shelby slappies squirm and have excuse after excuse on why people are leaving. Shelby will say they will be ok, not this time around. It’s like the Titanic over there , like Rulz said not everything can be put out public yet. Just wait and watch.

On another episode of As ‘Cleveland County Football Turns’ In the southeastern part of the county, Kings Mountain has taken some huge losses on their coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball. I am not sure that KM can ever replace what those guys brought to the defense and to the program overall. Coach Kennedy and Coach Brown are probably the biggest coaching losses in KM football since the late Ron Massey left for Kannapolis. Coach Brown (JB) will do a great job at Crest. Both of these guys not only were good coaches but also good motivators who had relationships with their players beyond the football field. Also the kids could relate to them because those guys played college ball on the defensive side of the ball and could discuss in game adjustments and coach kids on technique which is huge. JB also coached many of the current kids from youth football through high school and had their trust. I am talking about from players from the Rickalyn Mack youth football years to this current crop of Curtis Simpson and company. KM will feel this loss big time for the next four or five years. From the outside looking in I totally understand why those guys chose not to come back to KM football despite what the official KM statement on them leaving may be. Coach JB will do a great job at Crest with their young players.
Many people are waiting to see who KM replace those guys with but I am sure that KM politics will play a part in that process as usual. For a fleeting moment I mistakenly believed we had moved beyond our typical KM nonsense. I am sure that some new KM posters will materialize out of nowhere to hype up whatever excuse making retread KM coach or coaches are brought in. We have two that we should have left on whatever dung pile they were on come back on staff in KM and now we have to replace two of our better talent evaluators on top of this. I can see us going back to those previous years of coaches advocating for their friends’ kids, administrators kids, or boosters’ kids, and bad mouthing kids that they do not want to see on the field because it was a threat to the previously mentioned kids or to simply be a yes man to whatever bs we see on field in the future. Stay tuned; same Cleveland County time same Cleveland County channel.

After watching that video I hope Shelby keeps Barney Fife2 as coach for many years to come. I am not sure the name fits though as this is an insult to Mayberry's finest law man. Anyway, I like the passion from the Crust crowd. Apart from a loss to Gaffney and Burns I see a great season ahead!
Coach Willbanks has 2 State Championships in 4 seasons and Burns has 1 State Championship in what 57 years.
