CC over Hickory last night 5-2. Hickory took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th but saw CC score 4 in the top of the 7th. Was exciting to see Isiah Lowe pitch for CC. He only pitched the first 2 innings but was very impressive. Davis for Hickory pitched great for Hickory.

I've wanted to see him throw. How'd he look? I've seen his bullpen and that boy can sling it.

CC was supposed to play Rock Hill SC Sunday in Shelby but it was canceled. work on the new lights at the stadium was supposed to be going on so I wonder if they have not finished. Getting new LED lights for the field and under the canopy. Was told it was supposed to be the lights that they can change colors and do all the fancy effects with.

Hon, I assume the top 2 teams out of the West would get a bye in the first round of the Area Playoffs then, correct?

Cleveland County over Cherryville 4-0. Lowe started for Shelby and struck out the first 9 batters he saw including a 9 pitch 3 strike out inning. Went 5 and I think struck out 13 total. Cartee came in to finish the game out. Word is scouts from the Padres and Braves were there to see Lowe.

Man it's gonna suck when he gets drafted and he leaves the team. But good for him.

This is pitiful with teams dropping out. Wonder if it's too late to change the Area tournament format. It would be nice to have the top 4 in each division make it instead of everyone. It's not fair to the other teams that the top 4 from the west will get byes. They should take the top 4 from each division and start there.

It is a shame with what's happened to Legion ball. Asheville is a prime example. You look at the talent that TC, Asheville, and AC put on the field this high school season, now here they are shutting down the Asheville legion season. Hate to see it.

Just watched Cleveland County beat Davidson 12-3 over at McCrary (Asheboro). CC got hot in the fourth inning and exploded for seven runs. Pretty good team CC's got.
If they can get hot at the right time, they are dangerous. Pitching depth is no issue. Hitting has been the problem. All these kids don't know each other either. It's taken them a while to gel.

They had really started to hit their stride and the you had some miss games for difference reasons. Having to get that rhythm back.

Tuesday's win gives the P100 Sr Team a 12-2 West Div record & secured 1st place for the Regular Season. They play a Home Game Thurs vs Queen City, 1st place in the East Div. Hope you can be at Fraley Field to support the Sr Team in the regular season finale.

It is a shame with what's happened to Legion ball. Asheville is a prime example. You look at the talent that TC, Asheville, and AC put on the field this high school season, now here they are shutting down the Asheville legion season. Hate to see it.
I coached legion (both at the junior and senior level) for 5 years. 2 as the head coach for a junior team and 3 as an assistant for the same posts senior legion team. I would imagine Asheville would be much like where I coached - we drew from some great schools - but showcase ruled the roost, ultimately. If we had all of the kids we could have, we would have been oozing with talent year in and year out. Now, we did get a few of these kids every now and then, once they had already committed to their colleges and just wanted to play legion before they headed off to get started playing college baseball.

I have another couple of coaching buddies who coached at a very prominent Area III program for 6-7 years together, and they would tell you the same thing. One common theme of all of these kids - they would tell you that if they could go back and do it all over, they would have played American Legion baseball their entire high school careers.

I agree with you. I played for Shelby Legion for 3 years and it was the best 3 years of baseball of my life, including my 4 years in college. I just don't get paying all of that money for Showcase ball. If you're good, you'll get noticed. There are countless scouts all over the country. They'll find you.
