Lloyd vs The hired gun.

Most of us assume that when the dust settles and it’s the week of the regional final that the final two teams will come from the group of Shelby, Monroe, and Reidsville. However, I believe there are some other teams that have the ability to shake things up a bit in the West. Not to say that anyone will derail the inevitable but I do think there are several teams who are sneaky good and could play spoiler to the status quo if they are clicking and the final brackets fall just right. The top 3 in the mid-state conference and the CVAC are dangerous. You then have Burns, Brevard, Randleman, and East Rutherford who will bring dangerous teams into the postseason. Who out of these has the best chance to upset the apple cart?

Out of curiosity I was seeing who all is playing this Friday. I know a couple that are.

When do the playoff pairings come out, today or next Sunday?

And so it begins and so it ends...

Final week for the MPC both this year and this version of the conference forever. No more 3A ball after realignment hits... it was an experience for certain.

North welcomes Ledford and both squads are desperate for a season ending victory. A win for North probably puts them in the playoffs. Ledford I'm not sure but they would love to ruin Norths chances I'm certain. North has not missed the playoffs since 06 so that is kind of a big deal to Black Knight fans... on the other hand Sending Ledford to purgatory in the cellar of the conference would be even sweeter...

Aboro is hitting their stride and will probably beat MC but that's why they play the game. Aboro seeking their first win over MC and they already did it to ND and Ledford so why not?

OG and Central for the conference title... OG wins imo but Central will be hungry after losing to ND last week and having a chance for a tie for the title is motivation enough. Grizzlies pull it out in the second half as usual after Central gives them a slow start in the first half. Central usually pushes OG to the brink and I would not be surprised if they do it again but I call for OG to win the 4th qtr as usual.

The regular season has come to an end in the ECC, congratulations to James Kenan and Wallace Rose Hill as they share the conference crown. The ECC will have five teams in the playoffs when they begin on November 15. East Duplin is going to go to St. Paul’s and play the Bulldogs on Friday November 8th. While James Kenan, Wallace, Kinston, and North Lenoir will be open this week, and be ready to see where they land when the playoffs seeding is announced. Good luck to all the ECC teams in the playoffs. Wallace will be the top seed out of the conference with their head to head victory over James Kenan.

A few weeks ago I thought this game might be competitive. Concord was playing decent in the middle of the season. The last 3 weeks they got shut out by South Rowan, lost to NW Cabarrus 28 to 7. Last night they got merked by a bad West Rowan team 42 to 0. Not sure if injuries happened to Concord? Regardless, it's two bad football teams playing but I feel Kannapolis should win this one going away to extend the streak to 10.

Effectively the conference championship game this Friday at Mooresville. A MVL win, and the Blue Devils win outright. A LKN win, and they tie, with LKN obviously winning the head to head.

So a lot to be decided this week at The Popp.


Obviously a massive crowd will be there, so the environment will be nuts. What yall thinking?

West Forsyth is playing great football winning 5 straight. They will be playing for a chance to have a 3 way tie for the CPC Title along with Mt Tabor. East can win the CPC outright, they’ve been dominate this year and have beat West down pretty regularly the past 4/5 years. Either way, it’s rivalry week and anything can happen in this Forsyth County Championship. Tabor will be pulling for West that’s for sure…

Area 51 match ups for week 11 are very interesting.

1. Statesville at Hickory- can the Hounds hang with Hickory?

2. North Iredell at West Iredell- North can wins this game and might sneak into playoffs.
