Rosman at Andrews

After an impressive win over Hayesville, the Rosman Tigers will travel to face a Wildcats' team that has beaten them the last 3 times that Rosman has visited the northeastern part of Cherokee County with Andrews winning 26-21 in 2013...

Most folks will say this is a trap game for the Tigers, since Robbinsville will be coming to Tigertown the following week, and those folks would be right...

Here's a brief history between the Tigers and Wildcats:

The first opponent from the current SMC that the Tigers played was Andrews way back in 1962 in Rosman's 3rd year of organized play....The Tigers lost that first meeting in dramatic fashion, dropping a wide-open HB pass on the game's final play in a 34-33 loss to the Wildcats....Trying to toughen-up his team against better competition, Coach Bill Cathy scheduled a regular season game with Andrews for the first time in 1964 with the Wildcats winning that one 39-13...Andrews would later claim the Region 4 title over Mars Hill 30-27 that same season...In 67', Rosman's season would once again end at the hands of the Wildcats in the playoffs as Andrews won 27-7...Later, Andrews would claim the only Western 1A Title that was ever awarded as the Wildcats beat Tryon 34-7 to claim the West, while Ayden would beat Liberty 20-14 in the East in the final year of divided 1A titles, until the state began awarding 2 1A titles in 2001...

It would be another 6 years before Rosman and Andrews would meet again, and this time it would be a SMC game in 1973 that would end in an 8-8 tie, which is the only tie between the two teams in this series....In 74', Andrews would shutout the Tigers(38-0) for the first time in another conference game...Rosman would leave the SMC after that 74' season to join the new Appalachian Conference in 1975 with members Cherokee, Tryon, Polk Central, Edneyville and NCSD....It would be 9 years before Rosman and Andrews would meet again on the gridiron with Rosman picking-up their first ever win and shutout of the Wildcats, beating the 83' SMC Champs on the road 21-0...The two teams would schedule non-conference games in 85' and 86' with Rosman winning both those games by 25-0 and 53-6 scores...In 89'-91', Andrews would shutout the Tigers twice in beating Rosman 3 times in 3 non-conference games between the two...In 92', the final non-conference game was played between the two teams with Rosman winning 37-14....

Beginning in 1993, Rosman rejoined the SMC, and the Tigers would record their first ever SMC victory over the Wildcats, beating Andrews 38-27....Andrews would bounce back in 94' to beat the Tigers 35-13 before Rosman would reel off 14 consecutive SMC victories between 1995-2008, before Andrews ended the streak in dramatic fashion with a 38-0 shutout of the Tigers in 2009, beginning a streak of 4 straight Wildcat victories that ended in Rosman in 2012 with a 43-26 SMC win by the Tigers....In 2013, Andrews would win at home 26-21 with the Tigers rallying to win last year in Rosman by the score of 27-18....

Andrews has beaten common opponents Brevard and Hayesville this season, and has beaten Rosman the last 3 times that the teams have played in Andrews, so this is not going to be an easy "W" for the Tigers this friday as many believe....

The two teams have met 35 times thru the years with Rosman holding a 21-13-1 edge in the All-Time series between the two teams...

In SMC play, Rosman holds a 17-6-1 advantage....

In playoffs meetings between the two, Andrews holds a 3-1 advantage....

For the Tigers to have a chance this friday, they will have to contain QB Taylor Parker and RB Dillon Ward in order to break the 3-game losing streak to the Wildcats in Andrews, and it's likely to be a Homecoming game too boot...

Needless to Say, Rosman needs to stay focused on one opponent at a time, and this week's focus needs to be solely on the Wildcats of Andrews....

Roar Tigers Roar!

Solely My Opinions / Disclaimer

Any and all my post and threads are and always have been solely my opinions and not be thought of as the opinion of anyone else including the staff , coaches , players ,fans or parents of Mount Airy High school as a whole . I am a die hard Bear fan as other schools have the same few people. I get mad at some posters at times and say things I should not and regret it after it is done and then feel bad because my feeling sometimes makes a great school, coach and team look bad. I know the School Principal , Athletic Director and Coach Holder. They are all great people and and it is my belief that they have probably asked all players and students not to post anything leading up to a game on NCPrep at all or at least anything negative. I think that is where all the Bear poster have gone. I also feel this is true with most schools in the area. This is only my opinion.
My apologies to all the great people and great football program at Mount Airy High School. I am not saying I want hear something uncalled for and speak MY Peace which is soley my opinion not that of anyone else and please do not blame anyone for what I myself says.
So it is me you should look down on and not any of the above which I should include bareman,Kelly and WPAQ740.com who doesa great job covering the games.Thayare a big part in my getting the scores along with 2 other sores.I am doing my best to ignore a few agitators who have no team to brag on so the only way for them to get attention is to key on certain people. I apologies to those few for my letting them get under my skin. And Deana I think you may be short handed in help and do a great job get it done. This is not saying I will 100% change but I have been trying. What I am saying is at times other people say things that could draw a lot of negative comments but are looked over and i have to watch and edit everything I say. I think there is a few on here that know me and that I am really a good person. Just getting to old I guess and should just go away.My age and health bothers me a lot and maybe really should give it up or take a few weeks off and just set back and watch all the posts & threads for it seems I am always the bad guy to a few.
I am sorry to all the Bears faithfuls ! ! ! Good luck to all Friday night and praying for no injuries !

Clinton @ Midway Oct 9th

Sampson County rivalry game only the 3rd meeting between the two but over the last 2 years since being in the same conference this has become a pretty heated rivalry with our friends from Spiveys Corner especially in Football,Basketball, and Baseball....Clinton has won the previous 2 meetings between the teams winning last year's game in a 42-0 shutout....Clinton looked good against them in the jamboree during preseason but both teams have improved since then...Midway is playing on a short week still having to play Pender today but they should make quick work of them....Being the home team and this being a rivalry game Midway will keep it close for a quarter or two but I think Clinton will roll in this one...My Prediction Clinton 35 Midway 7....any thoughts???

Stanly County vs. Montgomery County

This will be an exciting week.

Here we have 2 of Stanly Counties finest(Not really) going up against 2 of West Montgomery finest ( 1 of which just left the list of the "Three blind mice").

For the North Stanly vs East Montgomery game, I look for North Stanly to bring East Montgomery back to reality. I believe North Plays Chatham tonight. No need to risk injury here, I'll give Williams the night off and rest up for Friday night. But knowing the coaches, they'll probably run him until he gets 270 yards in the second quarter.

Prediction: NS 25 East M 20

Albemarle vs. West Montgomery will be interesting or not interesting at all. West will be tough as hell to beat, and they're always play fired up against Albemarle. Ever since Albemarle put Davidson Day on the schedule it hasn't been the same. That's like when Mike Tyson got "Billed" by Buster Douglas....

West Montgomery reminds me of the athletes that Albemarle used to have. Strong and Fast, the only difference was our mentality. We never got a slow start and built momentum leading up to big games. We were born ready "War Ready" and that has bitten West Montgomery in the behind. Good example was last year vs. Starmount.

Some people actually believe that West Montgomery will not score 10pts on Albemarle.

Prediction: Albemarle 1500 West M 35
