Thomasville vs Ledford

I've been wondering why they don't put him at qb and let him read option people to death. He reminds me of Matt Cline. THAT boy torched our defense in 2004, running for 200 yards and throwing for 150 against a defense that didn't give up more than 26 points in the rest of our games all year. Cline scored 28 by himself on a typically bad East Davidson team. No wonder he went to Glenn for his senior year lol.

Davie got 26 points and they had Cooter Arnold, Ted Randolph, Logan Buchanan and Raeshon McNeil, all of whom played Div 1 football, just to put that in perspective. Not to mention Cooter got some of those points on a fumble return from the one yard line when we were about to score and go up...

That game and the loss to Tabor when we were up 15 with less than 3 minutes were absolute heartbreakers!

I was playing JV that year and was standing right there at the fence on the Davie side visiting a friend when that play happened. Right in front of me... I still remember the heartbreak lol.

Dang OC, I've talked you up so much on these boards and now you reveal your true character flaw!!
I grew up a Duke fan and almost went to school there. Had a neighbor that played football at Duke and we had season tickets for several years. But then I walked into Kenan and realized that real colleges had real college stadiums. Became a football manager under Bill Dooley and never looked back.
I’m a diehard but not one with blinders on. With the scrutiny of the last few years, the players who sold shoes are idiots. Whether you believe they should be able to sell them or not, they’re idiots.
Hope I haven’t burst that bubble too badly. I have worse faults, but will keep those to myself!

I met Coach Dooley a couple of times years ago at the beach and we talked football. Great guy and successful coach. At least you don't have blinders on that Randy Swicegood fellow!! LOL

Dooley was old school for sure. Reminded me a lot of Coach Cushwa. Not sure either could coach today.

I’m acutely aware of the flaws in the Carolina athletic program. But I honestly believe that everything they’ve been accused of goes on at virtually every Division I school in America. That’s the part that bothers me...the hypocrisy of all of them. To me, the ultimate sin is paying players or their families large sums of money. I get the whole argument about the obscene amounts of money in college sports and that players deserve a share. But have never seen a proposal yet that would put all programs on a level playing field if players are paid.
Until it’s legal for all of them to be paid in a fair and equitable way, none should be.
Okay, off the soapbox. Go ‘Dogs!

Amen to that! My freshman year, Don McCauley set a national rushing record and almost won the Heisman. Dooley threw it just enough to keep Don from getting killed.

Amen, to that, BlackKnightNut. I know OC Davis personally and he is truly a cool guy.

OC, speaking of team managers, my Father pulled for Duke basketball. He and I were watching the Blue Devils play Carolina, one night, back in the 1960’s (maybe 1967). That year, Larry Miller would have been a senior, I think. R.Clark, D.Grubar and B. Lewis were maybe sophomores/juniors. Seems like Duke still had B.Verga and B. Riedy but had lost J.Marin and S. Vacendak, the previous year.

I asked my Dad why he pulled for Duke. I knew he had no connection, there, or any other college.
When the camera panned around to the Duke Bench he saiid, “See the the man in the suit”, pointing to the team manager. “That is Red Crowder. He is from Cherryville”. He said “I know him and his Father. He is a good boy and I always liked him.”He is the reason I pull for Duke”.
So, for my old man, for Red Crowder and for OC Davis, a big hats off to team managers.

As always, best of luck to the Bulldogs. Bring home a win against Ledford.

Thanks Lincolnton! And the best to the Wolves.

Those two UNC and Duke teams were powerful. Great basketball back when you could have a true conference champion with eight teams.

Ledford 14-0. Eight minutes left in half. Panthers have had three possessions and stareted at the Thomasville 14, 40 and 35.

Are we making a lot of mistakes or is Ledford just that much better?
Ledford is good. Hard hitters. But we have made a ton of mistakes. Look lost out there. Used three time outs in the first quarter to avoid a delay penalty and have had at least two delays. Blocked punt, fumble, bad snap on a punt. But give Ledford credit. They may give North a game.

Plenty of mistakes by Thomasville but also think there was a bit of fools gold to their improved start to this year. They are certainly in a great spot for the future, but as I said earlier in the week, I suspected they were a year or so away from beating or competing with the top third of the conference and tonight it looked to be true.

So it remains a two team race... North thumps SR 46-6. Salisbury beats down Lexington and also remains in contention.

Well I guess Simmons was right having Ledford win by 24...I thought that would never happen myself...o well is what it is
