both teams played pretty good offensively and honestly it would’ve been a lot closer if it wasn’t for NE recovering those 2 kicks
It would have been closer but I think NE still had enough to win. They did much better against the run in the 2nd half. Good adjustments by Coach Moore. I thought NE gameplay was good also. They stretched that JK defense out and ran the ball really well. Mixed in enough good passing plays to keep that gameplan honest. JK tried to do that a little in the 2nd half but it wasn’t effective enough. They put 2 guys out wide but everyone in the stadium knew they were running it. They only threw it 2 or 3 times one being the game ending pick. Teams that don’t throw the ball will not be good at defending passing. It showed last night as well. Yea they got a pick but it was a bad pass thrown into an area he shouldn’t have thrown too. JK attempts at passing was not impressive. Their power running in the first half was impressive. It just wasn’t enough in the end. They had a great season. Something to build on!

I thought I would let things calm down some. I went and truly didn't care who won just wanted to see it for myself. That's the truth .First off I thought JK had the edge in team physical strength but Northeastern had a huge edge in team speed. Goob didn't lie they are fast and just not one or two they are fast everywhere.
I thought the 2 kicks that Northeastern recovered did hurt JK some but its part of the game and North with that speed was there to recover. Coach Moore of North did an excellent job of being patient and taking what JK defense was giving them. JK was in some strange defensive alignments and Moore took what they were giving. JK could move the ball very well but after the double pass for North to take the lead JK kinda of went away from what had got them back in the game and I thought that was a mistake. Just my
opinion but could of been some of Norths adjustments too. Heck I don't know.
It was a good game and Northeastern is as advertised. I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed watching Goob during the game too it's kinda like he's got hold of an electric fence the whole time.🤣 But he is a really good guy and I mean that. Now y'all can have it again.

Better team won. Those cupcakes we played all season prepared us well.
They came with that smashmouth style play and got punched in the mouth. Coach Moore clearly won the coaching battle. Jokes on them, first team from Duplin County to ever lose to NE. At least since I’ve been following

Very good post! From going to the game, I couldn’t agree more. 2 very good teams that unfortunately, 1 had to lose. You guys say styles make fights and both teams came in with a good gameplan. I think the keys to the game was………..
1- The phase of the game called special teams.
2- The adjustments by NE defensively at halftime
3- The double pass on a critical 3rd down
I think the speed of NE was evident. At every level. NE was the better team and I think will be favored this week. I keep telling everyone this NE team is for real!!!! Great season James Kenan. Nothing to hang your head about. Congrats Goob!
Look I give NE their flowers they are some speedy demons. But that double pass was 1. A forward pass so the receiver can’t pass it forward again and 2. Was from ahead of the LOS. But congrats NE on a deserved win.

They are still in shock James, we got to give them a few days 😂😂. They come here pounding their chests about that defense of theirs. What a joke, we scored at will and we’re led by a 155 lb rb. Let that sink in, he had a field day
I think you need to give ur own rb2 some credit instead of using his measurements against him.
What hurt jk they played the pass all night they was like if northeastern going to beat us is going to be on the Ground everybody played back
No it was legal. I just watched it on my fb live video. Line of scrimmage was 28 yd line. Qb was standing on the 24 and just pivoted to throw to the back. Harder to tell about his position on the catch but it looked to be a legal lateral. When he threw it he was on about the 26-27 yd line. I played it back again and watched were the slot receiver was lined up on that side and stared at his spot at the beginning of the play. The back threw that pass 2 yds behind that spot so there is no way to say he was across the line of scrimmage. It was a brilliant call at the time and perfectly executed.

Goobs, take the win like you've been there before young buck. These guys have signed off for the year, like you do after NE loses the big games. When they went up in the 3rd I know deep down you were freaking out. Hence why you didn't start posting till NE was pulling away lol
Early third quarter it started to smell a little funky up in the stands, near where goob and the jk hater squad was sitting
Always hated that they sit on the visitor side. Not sure why they do that. If I was 25 I would have escorted them to the other side tbh
I never understand the mentality of some people. Have you ever been to a college or professional game?? I went to watch SWO play NE and stood on the visitor side with Goob. Somebody saw him hold his hands up after a TD and actually went to the cops over it. A deputy asked me was I pulling for NE or SWO. I told him I didn’t get a ticket with a seat number on it and I was from neither town. I also told him if he wanted to see who the fools were to walk away and find a spot to watch a while. It didn’t take long he got my attention and gave a thumbs up. I almost posted this past week and asked how far SWO was from JK but didn’t.
Doesn’t matter where u sit if u keep it respectful, just remember if u sit on the opponent side that you’re sitting with the parents and friends of the players.

Yea and you see all the fights during NFL or college games lol. No reason to sit in enemy territory. Y'all just want to be weird and get attention lol oh an by the way this is highschool football, not college or pro. They have sides for a reason, visitor and home bleachers.

Most of those fights are the fans from the same team. Go to an ECU game and take binoculars. Scan the stands and watch!
I would be ashamed to say I couldn’t go to a high school game and be with fans from the visiting team and not be able to enjoy their company and make new friends. It really speaks volumes about your character!! I’ve made so many friends on here by going to games and meeting them. Last Friday we had East Duplin guys standing with WRH guys and having a good time.
Wanted to let things settle a bit before giving my thoughts on the game. Here is my unbiased take having been there and not having a dog in the fight:
These two teams are much more even than the score shows here. I was impressed that james kenan was having as much success running the football on northeastern as they were, after we had heard how good that defense was all year. I wasnt impressed with northeasterns defensive gameplan to defend superpower. That being said about their defense, their offense was definitely better than I expected, and I had high expectations. This offense is high powered while taking limited downfield shots. Its very impressive. I thought #0 was tremendous. meep meep. Also, thought #3 was very good. Goob is talking about he isnt their best back but agaisnt this Jk team he is the best one they could have had in there. meep meep. The reason the run game had success is because JK was very spread out and the fact that 3 was so small and quick helped that case even more. Props to NE, they are as athletic and fast as a team as I honestly have ever seen at this level. James kenan could have kept scoring but in an attempt to score quick went away from what had worked and that is understandable in the spot they were in.
Now lets talk about how they got in such a tough spot. i believe James kenan either wins this game or it comes down to the final possession if these 3 things happened differently (and they easily could have)
1. James Kenan doesn't lazily allow NE to recover a pooch kick after NE first touchdown. Instead of 13-0 NE it would have been 7-7.
2. James Kenan doesn't allow double pass on 3rd and long. Very avoidable and a sloppy job not to realize it was coming on 3rd and long. NE loves the trick play. If they dont let that up, they get the ball back in the 3rd quarter with a chance to go up 10, not having been stopped all game long.
3. NE doesnt recover the onside kick. Good onside kick from NE. That effectively ended the game. Flipped momentum entirely. really all there is to it. JK could have scored to take the lead back. Instead NE scores and JK goes into panic mode needing to score quick.
Not saying JK was the better team. I think northeastern was the slightly better team. (but its a lot closer than goob would like to admit!)
but these 3 sloppy mistakes from the tigers dont happen and im not so sure JK doesnt pull off the upset. The thought all year that NE was going to walk away with the east just was not true even though the score makes it look this way. The east was always open for a Jk or Wallace or even whiteville to win, even though I do agree NE was always the small favorite. The ball just bounced NEs way all night.
None of this is a slight to NE. They are excellent. Very very impressive, better than I was expecting. This is more giving props to Jk for showing that they were for real this year. The final margin was 18 but the game was much closer than that. I was one of the main ones all year hating on Jk, picked agaisnt them more times than not. They made me eat my words all year. They were a great football team and props to them on a great year. Good luck to northeastern and whiteville this week as they play for the eastern championship

👏 like I had said NE is not 18 points better than JK. Take those stupid mistakes away and the winner is simply decided by the clock and who has the ball in their hands last.
I agree with much that you said. My only argument was that NE made halftime adjustments obviously because they stopped JK in the second half a few times. I've been saying all year that you haven't seen speed until you've seen NE. JK was a heck of a football team. I don't think that the score reflects the game as well. But cant make excuses and what if statements bc Wallace beat NE a couple of years ago and recovered 4/5 onside kicks and nobody cared. Only said that NE cant beat a ECC team.

Respectfully, I agree, I think that James Kenan was and will be the best team NE has played, with style of play for sure! Sucks that it wasn’t for the eastern championship. No disrespect to Whiteville but I think JK and NE are much better than Whiteville. I do respect their program.
I think if whiteville can set the tone on offense and then not make costly mistakes they can pull it off but it’ll be tough, they’ll definitely have to make some big stops on defense and I’m not sure they can do that.
I completely agree with the onside kicks point. I think the thing we can take out of both of those games if that fact that a lot of times when 2 teams of a high caliber meet, special teams can decide games
